There's something about Gen 1 MH maps' "dark & gritty" atmosphere that just felt otherworldly and gives you this kind of feeling of being alone in a fantasy wilderness full of dangerous monsters that later MH games have forgoes in favor of the more realistic nature ambiences
it's more of the simplistic tank controls and jank combat, to where the combos where there, and you felt rewarded for pulling them off and avoided taking damage from the monster, plus you were this cool caveman/medieval knight hunter who hunted kaiju and scavenged for materials out in the wild, with nothing more than a sword and shield, or some weird steam punk gun. Now, in MHRise, the hunters literally fly through the air, and they have dogs, and shoot lasers, and it's just.....idk; plus everything is based on Japanese culture ( which goes against everything Monster Hunter, imo), but you can set the language to English, and there is no MH gibberish ( to my knowledge ). And then there are the twins, who I guess hand out main quests or you just talk to them for main objectives(?), who are basically Capcom's Devola and Popola. I'm sure MHRise is a blast to play, but the little I've seen, I have major issues with. It's is going down the same route as the Souls series, to where the more popular it gets, the more it loses it's original charm. The gameplay is pretty jank, and unfair to a certain degree, but rewarding, and the world is just cool.
This music makes me reminiscent of better times, no worries, no job, no university, just laying on the floor playing monster hunter 1, 2 and freedom unite with my all time best friend my cousin.
So trippy and weird..makes me imagine coming across a huge fungul section of the forest. That same golden light carrying spores and several rows of plate mushrooms line the base of a few dead old trees and rich green moss coats several logs. Looking up there are several long and high reaching fungul stalks scattered around like trees would be.
This is when hunters are going to sleep ( means the hunters are retired from hunt and lay down the weapons and disappear from fight against monster for good )
Do you maybe have music of Area 11 of Verdant Hills night time, extended? If not, can you please make and post - and also notify me? I would greatly appriciate it. Thank you for this video!

i cannot agree more
yeah
this place in particular was always a welcome stop on my hunts both for the atmosphere and to get ahead by trading materials with the elder.
First gen mh is something else indeed

there's just so much energy in these little area songs that you dont happen upon much!
This music makes me feel so alive yet so distant from everything. When I close my eyes I can almost believe I'm floating.

Thinking back i was like 9 years old when I first heard this ingame. Damm

This is giving me Resident Evil Revelation 2 vibes
New gen mh lacks the mystery and atmosphere
agreed
As a World-first player, I massively agree, they need to go back to the atmosphere and ecology/"Eastern village" style of the first gens
Well said
