Excellent tour of EAA Camp Scholler. You got close to my site a couple of times. Missed it by a couple hundred of feet. Maybe next year. Until then, stay safe, healthy and happy.
This was my first AirVenture. This is a very good video of the campground and how to navigate it. I had no idea there were so many bike parking or that I didn’t have to take a bus to the museum! Now that I’ve seen some your other videos, I see how you spotted my TW so easily. I should get get one of those flashy red LED bulbs.
It was our first trip to Oshkosh as well, it was awesome. I love TW's, planning a longer distance off road desert trip with a buddy now. The flashing brake lights are a great upgrade 👍
Having seen a hundred Osh Videos, i must say you gave the best tour i have seen in 10 years. Despite having a Hotel for the entire week, we had to cancel because of our eldest daughter becoming ill. Thanks for giving me my AirVenture Fix for 2024. We considered the campground several times because of the cost of the Hotel but having 2 special needs daughters, i have avoided it. Best Weather in many years, sorry i missed it! Thanks so much for your Tour! I will have to get on the forums and recommend it to more viewers. Have a Safe Trip back to Washington!
Thanks Mate, I glad you liked the video 👍. I was hoping it might help others who have never camped at Oshkosh to see the layout and how stuff works. There are special needs busses that have lifts on them, you can take these from the camp to the entrance and also to the sea port. They have trams set up inside with special needs ramps as well. The campground was a wonderfully experience that I would highly recommend.
My sister and brother in law camp at the north end every year next to their plane. I’ve wanted to try camping there and always marveled about how the grounds fill up early and seem to get larger every year as I look over on my commute back and forth to work. It sure is different from my initial visits in the 70’s.
The EAA museum is quite large with changing exhibits. The last one I saw. Was the nose art exhibit. It’s always interesting to see what is under restoration. If we get snow it’s fun to see the winter ski plane fly-in on the grass airport with the old hangers.
Seminars and classes are also held at the Museum throughout the year along with interesting speakers like astronauts. Learning to TIG Weld is one that interested me.
Never seen the campground from the ground before, thanks for showing it. Seen it from the air, mostly from Alina Scott's ultra lite, in the background, whistling past as she blatts around the circuit! Hope you get your laundry done. Greetings from the UK.
How fun to find this! I was camped right across the road from you (red Jeep suv). I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to chat. This is an excellent tour of camp Scholler. Did your dad ride his mobility scooter to the flightline from camp as well as on the flightline? If so that was a great battery upgrade.
Bummer, would have been fun to say Hi 👍. Yeah the battery that we upgraded on the scooter worked perfectly. He was able to ride from our camp all the way around through the show over to the museum and all the way back with battery to spare.... and we still have the stock battery installed as well as a backup 👍
My wife & I volunteer there for 2 weeks each year. Camp Scholler has become a zoo. Completely packed. Kids & teenagers causing all kinds of trouble especially at night. And this year, people brought lots of dogs for some reason. We broke up a couple of dog fights. These people are certainly not pilots. It’s just a place for them to camp. It feels like a spring break KOA. And it’s quickly becoming a jet show. Constant jet noise. The military is recruiting there, and they have nearly taken over the event. I’ve attended my entire life, and it has changed a ton.
Constant expansion is going to bring some of these issues, but it looks like the kids are just having fun. Also, jets are cool. I get it, it’s different, but it would be great if it didn’t become a “get off my lawn” event.

Change is the only constant. 👍
