We take a journey along the Sefton & West Lancashire Light Railway, a 16mm scale SM32 gauge line. We start off in the motive power depot at Sefton, joining our train in the main platform at Sefton Meadows station before setting off on our journey along the line.
All trains head non-stop through Aughtonside station turning left at Aughtonside East Junction over the Bluebell line to Porthmelling station, which was remodelled last month. The railway follows Ffestiniog Railway practices with right line running through Porthmelling.
From Porthmelling the line continues around Strawberry Corner before heading through Aughtonside station running clockwise up Aintree Bank through Sefton junction and back round the balloon loop to Aughtonside station. Trains which call at Aughtonside can do so before or after running round the balloon loop.
The train then returns on its journey round Strabwerry Corner, through the up platform at Porthmelling, along the bluebell line, before returning to Sefton Meadows.
The railway is now one year old, with many extensions over the last year and much work still to do, it will be interesting to compare journeys along the line in future years.
