Thats ridiculous. You cant claim something isn't tasteful or modern when you (or the public) has literally never even listened to any part of the album. The predisposed desire to declare something you've never heard as antiquated, dated, and distasteful solely knowing that the artist is "old" is inherent agism. I’m not being ageist as I am in the same demographic. However, both JLo and Gwen are 55 years old. It might be a combination of overexposure, lack of current musical artist innovation and diminishing audience interest. Our generation is now in that mindset of appreciating their older music and not caring to download the new. Not sure if the younger kids even want to listen to JLo and Gwen these days. They all have their current fave new artists to support.

She finished a vegas residency earlier in the year and has a open invitation to go back when ever she wants.
I don't think it has to do with relevancy. Madonna has tons of people who grew up on her and some young fans who are discovering her music. The question is how much are willing to see her or buy her new material. Madonna's recent tour in 2024 did well. Even Janet Jackson tour in 2023 had to be extended to 2024 bec tickets were selling. As great as certain artists are, do you really believe the top 20 should have been made up of all the songs on their album? Hell no. This is why people are not buying or streaming music. These artists are in the top 20 one year and you never hear from them again. This is why all the older musicians can go on tour in 2024 and sell out and the younger ones are struggling.
I feel like they stopped dumping money into these particular artists. She did some promo for it but I don’t feel it was as much as previous. It feels to me like a smaller project IMO. The labels pay for people to chart. All it shows me is where they are allocating $$$ to now. Not her.

While shes easily sweeping the top album spots in European countries and Australia, I don't even think Tension scored better than 21st place on the billboard album charts. Like if all icons who have honed their craft for literal decades cant collectively achieve a spot higher than 21, clearly the problem isn't them. The industry works against them, and young girls who largely determine album success never have and never will look to women over the age of 55 for relatability, admiration, taste, etc. As sad as it is, women at this age almost exclusively rely on the gays for album sales.

I was 12 when Gwen's first album came out. I'm 42. 30 years is a great career for a musician. Tastes change, and it's hard to make the transition, let alone do it gracefully. At least with acting, there are always various ages to be portrayed. Bottom line. Start young.

While shes easily sweeping the top album spots in European countries and Australia, I don't even think Tension scored better than 21st place on the billboard album charts. Like if all icons who have honed their craft for literal decades cant collectively achieve a spot higher than 21, clearly the problem isn't them. The industry works against them, and young girls who largely determine album success never have and never will look to women over the age of 55 for relatability, admiration, taste, etc. As sad as it is, women at this age almost exclusively rely on the gays for album sales.
They also alienate their age approiate fan bases by catering to the younger generations who couldn't care less. They keep on making childish music into their middle ages. Kylie found her formula and stuck with it, she is smart.
Shawn was huge and very visible on social media when he dropped his debut album, but he has been gone for 2 years… a millennium in the music world.

I haven’t listened to music at all I’ve been listening to commentary regarding project 2025. That is why music is taking a backseat for many people right now.

I was 12 when Gwen's first album came out. I'm 42. 30 years is a great career for a musician. Tastes change, and it's hard to make the transition, let alone do it gracefully. At least with acting, there are always various ages to be portrayed. Bottom line. Start young.

Gwen Stefani's last album debuted at #1 on the Billboard Albums chart. Wow! And I really like some of the songs on her last album. I didn't buy her new album, though. None of the songs impressed me enough to buy it. Too bad! #98! And Gwen is very good and likeable, currently on 'The Voice".

Shawn didn't like that he came out, but the ladies didn't like it 😕 I guess. Gwen she hasn't been doing advertising her album, and neither Shawn. Didn't even know the two put new albums out. Haven't heard people talking about or any hype or advertisements for it.

I think music has changed. People aren’t into albums. I think artist should stick to making singles. That seems to work right now. There’s a new generation not knowing who Gwen is.
I love the Shawn record and this one. Who cares about numbers. Both of these artists are making music that means something to them. They have both earned that. The charts of full of one hit wonders who’s sons go viral on TikTok and will fall of the face of the earth 5 years from now. I will take integrity over chasing hits.
