I hope you understand how much people like me value your time making these video's. It really helps putting things in perspective. You are very much appreciated!
For some reason the phrase “although the national security professionals know to ignore cheap talk signals like this one” may be the most terrifying you’ve ever said in any of your videos.
Sounds a bit like Kennedy's declaration during the Cuban Missile Crisis, except that he limited it strictly to the use of nuclear weapons by Cuba. Tagging strategic nuclear forces to the use of conventional forces is very 1952.
Here’s a question. Why doesn’t the current administration have a press conference and say more or less what you’ve said: “What Russia says is all but meaningless. What Russia does is what we account for.”
I’m not sure if that’s your natural voice or if you’ve sped it up, but as a non-native speaker, I find it difficult to stay focused on what you’re saying. I really enjoy your videos and have bought two of your books. I hope you can make some adjustments to make it easier for the rest of us.
I will say I appreciate the speed, because I normally speed videos up to 1.1x speed to get through them just a little faster. There are extensions you can get (or apps like ReVanced, which I'm using now) that let you similarly slow down videos to about 0.9x speed. I recommend that if you haven't heard if it before!
There is some natural variation in my speed of talking. This one was on the faster side. By word count, this would have normally taken about 16 seconds more, which is a decent percentage of the video.
@@LinesonMapsExtra I understand, but for some, in the cost function, the duration of the video weighs less than the effort required to understand the content. Of course, the cost function of the majority matters most.
TH-cam itself allows for slowing down up to .25x. Of course i always watch high-quality videos at 2x, and then rewatch the few deserving vidoes at 1.5x😮😮😮😮😮
Putin either brings NATO airforces in the war if he uses nukes or gets nuked back. I can understand babbling constantly about nukes - they are insanely expensive for weapons that can’t be used - after all you need to get some value out of them 😂
When you are: using Cold War vehicles & arms from 40+ years ago, employing mercenaries and allied countries’ soldiers in your military, are printing money into oblivion, I think your nuclear weapons won’t work too well if at all.
Russia switched to a war forced economy - in a few years it’s all new stuff… and I do think they have enough nukes which are working fine.. Your meaning is a bit behind the actual situation. And that’s not a threatening more from a realistic point of view.
so russia has basically inverted Nato's article 5? 'an attack form one is an attack form all?' slightly watered down really by only including those providing support in some way, and like you said, it was just mostly for show in an effort to turn public opinion against supporting Ukraine
He's just bluffing again. This is such a regular occurrence that it is pretty clear he has no intention of going through with anything insane. It's all just aggressive posturing to try and stop Ukraine from making any more significant gains.
The message is not directed towards governments, but to the civilian population who elects them. The goal is to freak out the civvies so they vote in dove politicians and create anxiety in general
@@thekiatty6953 _This!_ And it works, too. I've talked to so many people who genuinely think he's going to go through with these plans, and I can't really blame them because they aren't as closely plugged into geopolitics as I am. But yeah absolutely.
It’s amazing that Russia is complaining when they invaded another country.
And have received support from Iran & North Korea but Ukraine is not allowed to do the same 🙄
Hypocrisy is a feature, not a bug, of international affairs.
This Channel is getting out of hand - now there are two of them!
We should have never made this bargain

I want so many lines on my map it’s just one solid line and no map
I will try harder!
I want a map lying on a bunch of lines, then for good measure, put lines on that map!
A map sandwich!
I want maps on lines, or maybe just lines on lines
@@LinesonMapsExtrai want the lines on maps to look like a "border gore" situation from a Paradox videogame
If only every American, British Briton, and Moldovan would watch “Lines on Maps” nonstop…

So happy do discover the new channel!
I'm going to start tracking all your star wars references, you can't escape me
A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one.
A new channel to keep me updated. Nice!
Love that the first video on the causal channel is just going over the prospect of nuclear war y’know nothing serious
Yeah nbd
Hahaha - totally casual nuclear brinkmanship.
Nice subtle Star Wars reference.
What? There are no books that i need to buy?
Great editing and commentary dude. Keep doing content and you'll reach 2k subs in no time. We all start from zero!
5k subs in 2wks. Not bad. 😅
It is already 6.35K…
😊😊
I dont know if this is a joke or not, but this is a second channel. 😂
Makes me wonder if the Kursk only restriction was a lie to preserve some element of surprise
Cheer
Of course I immediately subscribed, but would have preferred the channel name to be instead "Extra Lines on Maps" 😂
it's Lines on Maps all the way down.
Deny Russian vessels transit through Danish and Swedish territorial waters.
I appreciate tge shorter-form video!
Short form long form content tent?

Publicly saying “their words are meaningless” is just ASKING for them to back those words up.

An extra channel!!
It's so weird to have so short video. When my brain hears this voice it goes automatically into concentration mode lol
We know Russia will not use a nuke.
Never say never but this threat is going into the direction of France and GB. An attack to them is like a suicide.
You should name this channel, "Maps without lines" implying a more laid back content
Nothingeverhappensbros just can't stop winning
Russia is altering the deal. Pray they do not alter it further.
