Thanks for the video guys. I’d suggest adding timestamps to the video as well as an overlay during the review of each stick model so it’s easy to parse through the video and find the review of a specific stick. Cheers!
We discuss which sticks went soft, stayed solid (lol) and or broke in this video. Durability is a difficult area (super important I know) to review. Because it's even more subjective than all the other points. ice surface, size of player, skill of player, games/scrimmages per week, contact vs non contact hockey, how bad the ice rink boards are (seen so many sticks broken by gaps in boards).. So many elements will have a massive impact on durability excluding if the manufacturer has done a good job. See what I mean ? Happy to take suggestions on how to include this more. FIRE AWAY TH-cam !
Could you do a video of the older flagships, like 10 years ago, and see how they stack up towards todays sticks. I’ve been curious how the those sticks from awhile ago would even compare against the lower and mid tier sticks today.
I agree with the warrior sticks. I’m adjusting to the new blade curves since I took like a 10 yr break. 3 seasons, haven’t broken one yet, and zero indication of them softening up. Face offs, battles in front of the net, they are beat up but not losing anything.
Have you guys ever did a (what kick is this?) blind test. Give him some low kicks and some mid kicks and see if he can spot the difference. In todays hockey stick world, the low kicks guys are slowly moving it higher to get a little more power on the pop, and the mid kick guys are lowering the kick point a little for a little quicker pop. I feel that the stick companies have leaned so much into the “optimized” terminology to make it sound like it’s a crazy new technique. Have they blurred that line so much that it’s now thicker than a red line? Tommy can answer that haha.
I love that you guys do this, I think it’s a huge benefit to people who can’t get their hands on everything offered.. but I have one critique.. every time I hear Tommy talk about “feel” it’s either that a stick has feel or it doesn’t. I think he generalizes feel just a bit too much. For example. I think the Trigger 7 Pro had absolutely awful feel. (It’s a soft blade construction) which I hate, because I felt like I had to look down all the time. But I think the Hyperlite series have fantastic feel. (They’re hard as a rock) which I love, because there’s so much feedback, and I never had to look down. I think feel is such a huge part of breaking down a stick, that it needs to be made less subjective. And given a blade softness/stiffness score. Or atleast gone into a little more detail. Because Tommy is clearly a solid player who knows what he’s talking about. But so was I playing a top 6 in college. Yet we have drastically different feel preferences. Just a note. Love you guys ❤
If you want another stick to throw into the mix, a company called Coast to Coast Hockey Shop out of Vancouver still makes two piece sticks and I really like mine so far. I know two piece can be a touchy subject for performance, but snapping a blade and getting a "new" stick for the cost of a blade replacement is still a fantastic deal for someone living a hair above paycheck to paycheck lol. They have their own shaft and blades that they promote work well for both ice and ball hockey. I use mine for ball hockey hockey and its made my shot far better than my previous Sherwood. Plus I was able to get a blade option I actually like (similar to PM9) easily but they also offer the more popular curves. There aren't a lot of reviews for their stuff, but the stuff I can find outside of my own experience tend to be positive.
I have the same issue with the ribcore... you have to learn to break it at day 29 of the warranty and go exchange for another new one.. being a centerman, taking all the beatings off faceoffs is what breaks the blade. I've only ever broke 1 stick in the middle of the shaft area from shooting
love the video but perhaps you can add Reliability for a score, i know sticks like Hyperlight and Ribcor score low but i would of been nice to know how the Warrior holds up against a bit of use, especially with these price points .......great vids , love watching..
@@HockeyTutorialOfficialthe qr6 pro I had was the best stick I have ever shot with and as it broke in it felt like it shot even better. Grip was 10/10 lasted a good 7 months and I skate 2x a week and coach 4x pretty great stick
i have used CCM Stage 2 for the past 5 or 6 yrs and they work just fine....those high end sticks are great for about a month but are sooooo fragile......my stage 2's you can get 2 for $200 bucks and they last a looooong time and still give a decent shot and great durability
I've had a Super Tacks, Super Tacks 2.0 and two Jetspeeds break exactly like that Ribcor in the video, always straight down the middle of the blade. Blade durability is awful for CCM, don't think I'll be going back to their sticks unless they fix that.
Really sad that CCM continues to put helicoid blades on all top specs of each lineup. Honestly still love the FT5 pro going strong after 2 years with it!
Got the QR6 and the feel is terrible. I cannot even call it a back up. Waste of $$$. Bought the Trigger 9 today and this is a 10 on feel. Hopefully it holds up.
Great video. I just really wish you talked about the price of each one of these sticks! I stopped really playing hockey about 10 years ago. I'm thinking about getting back into it, but wow, the prices on sticks these days are insane! 😢
@brianbanks3044 not looking for cheap as in quality and price, just not looking to spend $200 to $450 dollars on a hockey stick... I will gladly take any recommendations of a decent stick that's under $200... 🙏
I keep telling this but, I really do feel like the sherwood would always be in the top if he was taller. he cuts these really short and f up the kickpoints.
I wonder how much financial support the companies of these products give to you guys to make rankings like this and how "honest" you guys really are. I'm not saying that it's all BS. But for example; I bought ccm ft6pro custom skates last year, because they were ranked so good by you guys. Total failure, and i did go back to bauer shadow custom skates after 2,5 months of CCM use. Not only was the fitting way better even when they were custom (kind of personal prefference) Also the quality of materials and durability of the products, liners and stitching on a Bauer skate is way and way better. Not even touched on the insanly poor tongue used on the CCM skates. It looks really good with the lacebite protection on it, but after only a week of use the tongue was useless. Same with sticks, I don't really see how you guys ranked Warrior this high. Our team burns trough the QR6's and Alpha's so fast and there is no one happy with needing to use them. I would go to CCM or Bauer for sticks for example. Again, i don't think it's all BS what's been told on this platform. But i have to say i've lost my trust that i had in you guys before due to the way you guys hyped up the FT6PRO skates and those are far away from how you guys promote them. For the amount of influence I think this platform has on what people buy, i feel like there could be a more honest way of approach then it seems to be right now. People be warned. Do your own research.
Honestly these reviews are mostly useless because all those stats are meaningless if the stick breaks within a month or 2. I would rank durability as the highest priority when im spending 300 on a stick
True, but it does tell you if you want to stick to last, don't buy those. Also, some people just break sticks like crazy and some people never break sticks...
Yes it's a very good stick, probably the most popular stick in the NHL, pro stocks are built with better quality, and the curves might work better for you. They are also cheaper too.
2:44 "don't even have to say which one it is" - proceeds to talk about the stick without telling the viewers what the name of the stick is. Their videos seriously lack structure sometimes..
I bought a custom KYC stick in my curve and flex based on Tommy's high praise. It's a total dud. Worst stick I've used in a long time. Feels softer than the flex rating and has no pop. Totally dead. So disappointed. Total waste of money.
@@HockeyTutorialOfficialsee providing some video content ideas to you guys. On ice and in depth review and head to head for top 3 with Tommy’s ultimate #1
Could you get other players to add their opinions? We all love Tommy, but he is the player he is and I feel like everyone would love to see what a defensive player whos the total opposite of Tommy, has to say about these sticks. I watched the video over again and it’s awesome but it would be even better if we had a guy who actually uses mid kick sticks to offer an opinion. My friend who plays D, tried the Hyperlite 2 and gave his thoughts, which were completely different from the sticks owner. The owner touched on the puck feel and stick handling, while the D-man talked about how it loaded up quick and he was able to side step on the point to get a quick wrister. A little aspect that a power forward in close wouldn’t be able to tell you.
Thanks for the video guys. I’d suggest adding timestamps to the video as well as an overlay during the review of each stick model so it’s easy to parse through the video and find the review of a specific stick. Cheers!
Have you guys thought about doing a durability score so it doesn’t interfere with the shot/feel if need be?

CCM must have manufacturing issue with blades. My 10 year old had two blades break with 30 days of each other.
