The footage clearly shows how the police cracked the otherwise peaceful demonstrators and unprovokingly attacked the activists. Moreover, they kicked and lathicharged the demonstrators.The brutal attack by kicking, fisting, slapping and with lathis continued more vigorously while inside the common room and later more so in the detection room. Many of the activists bore injury marks of lathis on them.The question is, is this how the police maintain peace? Had they acted on their own in such barbaric fashion or it was order from higher ups? Neither did they took the memorandum for which the demonstrators came nor did they spoke to them.
