Great video. I feel like the GWML isn't as good now with most of the 165/166s gone, all HSTs are gone and 345s and 387s everywhere. At Tilehurst there are 4 165s that pass through. 2V21 stops at 09:47, 5L48 passes at 15:59, 1P47 passes at 23:30 and finally 1D48 passes at 01:17.
@@AnthonyFurnival yeah and the lines out of London Paddington were electricfied using Network Rail's series 1 OHLE system. Stations on the Great Western Mainline between Reading and Didcot Parkway were ruined by the overhead wires along with Theale Aldermaston Midgham Thatcham Newbury Swindon Bristol Parkway Patchway Severn Tunnel Junction Newport and Cardiff Central but it's good they never electrified Kintbury Hungerford and Bedwyn. Also the countryside got ruined by lots of metal as it's grossly engineered electrification.

The 458s are going to be overhauled - they’ll return as 4 carriage trains capable of running up to 100mph! (Currently they are 5 carriage and so 75mph)
Not watched the full video as of typing this, but it's really cool you saw the 57! I'd love to see that, but GWR are nowhere near me, so I'd have to go on holiday, I assume that one you saw was just a stock move? I also never knew GWR owned those 387's Wow, you saw the Pullman aswell!! I need at some point to just have a day sat on a busy train station, and see what I get! And what was that: 11:58
@@TrainGuy_2008 they’ve been in service a few years, they essentially replaced the Networker Turbos after the lines out of Paddington were electrified - the turbos then moved down to Bristol/ Devon to replace the pacers and some of the older sprinters.
FANTASTIC video my good and dear friend, it really is fantastic 🤩🤩🤩🤩. Like 7 👍!!!!!!!
Thank you

Nice! I sadly have never seen a turbo at tilehurst
@@AnthonyFurnival the good days of the Great Western Mainline was with HSTs Turbos 360s and 332s.

Yeah they have loads of 387s now. Yep it was about empty stock move, I got lucky as I wasn’t expecting it!
@@AnthonyFurnival oh, will the 387's be replacing anything, it's lucky you saw that, got a good tone off it aswell! ;)

@@AnthonyFurnival oh, so they replaced the 166's down Paddington way, does this mean that the 150/158's could now end up replaced? I hope not! 🤞
@@TrainGuy_2008 the 150s quite likely sadly, probably not the 158s as they are about the same age as the 165/166s
