@0ShinAkuma0 100% agree. Viper is an insanely ambiguous and complicated character to play as and to fight against. Without an equally insane, ambiguous and complex brain behind the controller, she's nothing special. Lucky for Latif, he's one of the few players who can actually keep up with Viper's mixups and overwhelming momentum based offence and the product is an absurdly powerful play style. Latif can take 1 tiny mistake, capitalise and obliterate you in the blink of an eye. Godlike.
It one thing for someone to face a character that isn't used that often. It's another thing to face that character when someone knows how to use them effectively. That's why F.Champ Dahlsim and Latif's Viper are so deadly. Those guys picked up the unconventinal/low/mid tier characters and found all of their strenghts. Until others can do the same, they will be damn near unstopable forces. I really enjoy watch latif's viper. It keeps the game fresh IMO.
Actually, Latif shows up to promote fighting game tournaments in Saudi. He showed up at an arcade called Voltage 7 and faced off against the local scene as well as players from Kuwait and the UAE. He won the tournament but they didn't make it easy for him ;)
@KTC12490 Latif and Wolfkrone are the only Viper players placing high with her in tournaments. That's their hard work paying off for them, nothing more.
Flash metroid and Marn and Uryo invented Viper back in the SF4 days. But Latif was the smartest, because he sticked with her and now... the character loyalty payed him back bigtime. She was contained in SF4 by Sagat, and in Super by the chargers, but since AE... she almost unstoppable, if you know your homework with her.
@Tuuvas Haha, I appreciate the thought man, but I'm not that good at this game, I can't even get above 3500 PP, I gotta stick to making these videos for real top players.
It's true about C. Viper, in that she has a limited number of specials. However, they are extremely nuanced and change properties depending on the inputs. On top of that, timing is quite strict on C. Viper since she relies on Super Jump Cancels and Thunder Knuckle cancels for combos and mix-ups. The implication of those being that queuing inputs doesn't work most of the time.
@KumonPhonics couldn't agree more! she does like nearly 600 damage with one ex meter!not to mention alot of her mixups are safe on block. capcom didnt nerf viper in 2012 imo they made her different and in ways better.
@AeolusMN Yes, I do believe that he is this good by having talent amongst other things as well. All this combined puts him in the TOP 1% of SSF4 players in the world, as well as the TOP C. Viper player in the world but this of course is just my opinion.
@Theb0x lol please educate me, just when did mike ross get 3rd place at gods garden? and kim/fubarduck are part of the japanese scene for street fighter 4 and its only natural for them to place in tournies, if you are going to say otherwise then i could refute latif representing america for street fighter 4 using the same logic.
Great vid, only thing I would change is the sounds on each of the clips were different, had to constantly readjust my audio. Loved it though, really minor complaint, still think it was awesome : )
@0ShinAkuma0 well the point is that nothing much has changed, a couple of japanese still keeping going to the us and place first in almost every single major while on the other hand, the americans barely make it to the second or third round in japan. momochi said in singapore that playing overseas is 10 times more difficult and is what completes a player.
@metallicaband No I quite agree with you; C. Viper is like Capcom's MvC expy because at the time, MvC3 was a long shot to end the long shots (more so considering they lost the license for Marvel characters). I wouldn't be surprised if they just said "stuff it" and decided to put her in SF4 as a callback to their MvC games, with the same level of execution and combo potential.
@0ShinAkuma0 It isn't that people think Latif or Wolfkrone's success is based solely upon the fact that they use Viper, it's just that Viper has so many tools that matches become increasingly in her favor, and become seemingly mindless guessing games. Viper requires very strong execution, but once that threshold is reached she is almost unfair. Look at what Kindevu did at Canada Cup, he took out top players not because he put hard work into viper, but because they guessed wrong.
Since Viper is based off of Capt. Commando, it would make sense to say she doesn't belong in this game. However that feels like a cop out. She's brought a unique element to the world of street fighter.
@darkneolord Imo, if you learn how to play Viper on a top level. You should be able to kick ass in the same way. Btw, tell me how does one character do not "Belong" in a game?
I played against him on my old 360 and I got GLORIOUSLY destroyed. I got one round in about 5 games because I’m positive he let me win. The attacks were non stop.
@neontetra1000 Actually no, you can't say that about other characters. The only people placing high with her are people who have CONSISTENTLY used her since vanilla. There are no top players that just 'pick her up'. That's mostly player skill in the video. Some people can't deal with it and that's fine. But until top players simultaneously 'pick her up' and start placing high, complaints can and will be filed under saltiness.
No he studies in Arizona so therefor he's currently living there, it's just a scholarship to study college then he'll be back to Saudi Arabia... you can ask him yourself if you get the chance to talk to him.
Yesterday I managed to do Seismo -> Seismo feint -> Seismo -> Seismo feint -> Seismo... I still got a LOOOONG way to go xD I wish I was asian-good as Latif. He is my favorite player.
@feraljim I find Latif is DEFINITELY one of the most interesting people to watch. (Of course, as Viper) He has a ton of tricks and you never really know what's going to come out.
Jeez latif this latif that - latifs been my apprentice since back in vanilla - aauuuaahh(stretch) no need for applause ppl - i know I can't help being me
@0ShinAkuma0 That statement can apply to any member of the cast?.How many seths/akumas/sagats place high at tournaments?.Only a few people can place high at tournaments by their very nature. You need to look at a characters attributes/power to determine how strong they are not tournament rankings.I am hesitant to agree with the term broken but you only need to see 4.50 of the video to see how powerful this character is,couple that with unfairly ambiguous cross ups and she has an advantage.
He lost to Fuudo at EVO that year, after taking down pretty much every other big name/legend to get to the grand final. I think this match with Fuudo was after? Said something along the lines of a redemption tourny or something at the bottom.
Uh yeah when they live in the US. You don't see people saying Justin is a Chinese person so he's not apart of the US group. Latif is known for kicking ass while living in the States not in Saudi Arabia therefore he's apart of the US group.
Honestly C Viper would be great Choice for Sf 6 for next year's dlc , in 4 she was pretty involved in the story and got a lot of screen time in the animated Stuff , while overall I do like her in this game , but it feels like they could do a lot more with her in the current era , and considering people actually like her already and what they did with Ed and Luke from 5 over to game 6....not to mention dee jay ... I think they could really cook with her and give her some more specials and change up one or two of the onees she had ... If her and G made it back that would be beyond hype G was actually a pretty well designed fighter mechanical wise..but in other design areas ... Lol honestly it just mostly his face like it looks horrid also I good way to go costume design wise could be Daniel day Lewis's character in there will be blood just a thought his Lincoln design isn't a bad choice ethier lol
@IlIl00 Nah, Bison is actually my second character after Akuma. Bison is VERY underrated, he's not as good as people think, solid upper mid-tier at best. I don't mind Balrog... I don't wanna say who they are, I wanna stay neutral. PM me and I'll tell you who they are. lol :)
This character is and always will be broken until those burn kicks become negative. Stunning characters with 1 meter. Doing 45-50% damage of shanangins, a million and 1 ways to land your ultra. Latif's good but Viper's bs helps cover mistakes when you just ground pound your way to victory.
Viper is probably one of the hardest characters to master. To do the instant flame kick, her cancels, all need precise hand motions. For the flamekick to actually come out as a cross, the player needs to memorize distances for every single character in the game. Without the high reward for this mastering, viper would be useless. Imagine learning to do a dangerous combo that if dropped can instantly change the stream of the game and only gives you half the damage of a BnB akuma hurricane combo.
@Ntploc he has lived in the US for 5-6 years and has learned the game in the US, playing against US players. he himself has stated that he considers himself an american player in this game. in guilty gear, he is saudi as that is where he learned how to play the game. of course, you are european. hasn't hating on americans become cliche for you guys yet? historically the japanese have owned us, but not in sf4. the gap WORLDWIDE has tightened up, there are S class players everywhere.
Sticks are just a preference... That doesn't explain anything... Wolfkrone plays on pad and look at what he does... I'm so tired of people thinking sticks are the answer to everything executional... It's retarded...
+Komatose MKDOA it kinda is tho, you can't deny you sorta have an advantage if you play with with an arcade stick. it's easier to string together combos with a pad.
@Theb0x a couple of japanese players still keep visiting the us and keep winning all of the majors for street fighter 4 and the americans are yet to even cross 2nd round in the japanese tournies they participate in. and no there arent s class players every where, there was no top tier representatives in the us, just the handful of people like justin, ricky etc who do really well with their character.
Viper's a highly technical character but she's awesome when you can put her combos, mixups and resets together to their best effect.
Viper is such a high learning curve character, but Damn she's awesome! She's my #1 main.
one of my alltime favorite players (beasts)
in fact the viper is one of the hardest chars in the game to master, it becomes even more great.
I remember Latif was doing endless battles with a bunch of players and was on like a 100+ win streak. He stopped because he was getting tired XD
I'll never forget Latif's performance at EVO, I went crazy watching all those eliminations on the stream
What's funny is, before Latif, I don't remember anyone complaining about Viper.
1:42 = Fear in Physical Form
By the end of it, you know exactly what was running through his opponent's head, "Please don't kill me, please don't kill me, PLEASE DON'T KILL ME!
This guy brought me into watching SSF4, I'm not a SSF4 player, Fighting games - not for me, but I love to watch them.
C. Viper just might be one of the most UNDERRATED characters in SSFIV ever XD
Latif's sponsor changes like, every 20 minutes I swear. Every time I see his name, a new abbreviation is in front of it.
Sad his name isnt rememebered as one of the greats. Dude was such a good viper
@0ShinAkuma0 100% agree. Viper is an insanely ambiguous and complicated character to play as and to fight against. Without an equally insane, ambiguous and complex brain behind the controller, she's nothing special. God I love him, he makes the matches so entertaining than those boring footsies matches. C.Viper is the best!
Latif = Beast. His amazing Viper play really puts me in awe.
The most entertaining sf matches by far...
Lord. It seems once Latif gets rolling, he is terrifying to fight against, and near impossible to stop. Those mixups are deadly.
The vs Banana Ken match was not only a "best of Latif" moment, but was one of LiangHuBBB's "funny and cool moments"
AWESOME
As a matter of fact yes I would thank you - I have many bison students but never had a viper b4
God that double crouching hard punch is so crazy lol
This guy is nuts them light kicks into feints is so hard to do hes a fucking beast
Brilliant mindsets and technique.
@Tuuvas Haha, I appreciate the thought man, but I'm not that good at this game, I can't even get above 3500 PP, I gotta stick to making these videos for real top players.
ahh such a good viper! i hate i dont have enough patience to learn her D:
WOW .. Latif's fast ..glad i got a pic with him when i was at the evo . :)
It's true about C. Viper, in that she has a limited number of specials. However, they are extremely nuanced and change properties depending on the inputs. On top of that, timing is quite strict on C. Always wanted to be able to use Viper like this. Never came close.
good god c viper!!!!!!!!!!! in tears
That is some maaaad button mashing skills. Props to him.
WTF
1:48
viper is one of the best characters when she's under control in the right hands.
@AeolusMN Yes, I do believe that he is this good by having talent amongst other things as well. All this combined puts him in the TOP 1% of SSF4 players in the world, as well as the TOP C. Viper player in the world but this of course is just my opinion.

So high level! Easily one of thee top sf4 players
Great vid, only thing I would change is the sounds on each of the clips were different, had to constantly readjust my audio. Loved it though, really minor complaint, still think it was awesome : )

watched Latif own Daigo in evo last year.. job well done i say!
Latif. The reason why I play C.Viper.
Latif is that dude!
@0ShinAkuma0

@Morden101 yeah, reaching 10k BP seems like a really tough feat for me already, not to mention 30 thousand! and that PP man.
1:42 almost gave me a heart attack
Since Viper is based off of Capt. Commando, it would make sense to say she doesn't belong in this game. However that feels like a cop out. She's brought a unique element to the world of street fighter.
So... when we gonna get a "Best of ShinAkuma"?
@darkneolord Imo, if you learn how to play Viper on a top level. You should be able to kick ass in the same way. Btw, tell me how does one character do not "Belong" in a game?
Why is LATIF soooo damn GOOD? Its not fair...GOD shouldve distrubuted all that TALENT evenly amongst the people of SF...its just not fair. ; )
Epic… Wolfkrone and Latif…
also it's much more interesting to see viper vs ken matches.
I played against him on my old 360 and I got GLORIOUSLY destroyed. I got one round in about 5 games because I’m positive he let me win. The attacks were non stop.

Latif is dope
@DaigosFriend Haha, nice novelty account.
Latif today is the best of USA
2 years ago we got the end of Justin Wong SSF4 era.
@FFA300 Personal preferences? Maybe they heard something? But don't worry, they all play on PS3s at EVO.
goddamn his viper is so fucking incredible !!!
Yesterday I managed to do Seismo -> Seismo feint -> Seismo -> Seismo feint -> Seismo... I still got a LOOOONG way to go xD I wish I was asian-good as Latif. He is my favorite player.

@0ShinAkuma0 I think vipers placement in the tier list is like 95% specific player skill .
Viper becomes a very strong character once you know all her special "assets"
He took down Wong, Tokido, Fuudo, Poongko, and THE BEAST!? Kill me...
MIND = BLOW
He lost to Fuudo at EVO that year, after taking down pretty much every other big name/legend to get to the grand final. I think this match with Fuudo was after? Said something along the lines of a redemption tourny or something at the bottom.
I have faith in him after seeing this madness. I don't know fuck all about Street Fighter because I rage quit, but I know true talent anywhere.
@0ShinAkuma0 plus the fact that Viper hasn't changed much from Vanilla to AE
Uh yeah when they live in the US. You don't see people saying Justin is a Chinese person so he's not apart of the US group.
Latif is known for kicking ass while living in the States not in Saudi Arabia therefore he's apart of the US group.
@FFA300 Xbox is a couple of frames faster than the PS3 version.
1:42 THIS GUY IS FCKING CRAZY !!! look how he keeps feilong at the corner
lmao ikr
Pure Fury, Awesome Latif =D
Latif's viper scares the hell outta me, and I don't even own a PS3 of Xbox...
Honestly C Viper would be great Choice for Sf 6 for next year's dlc , in 4 she was pretty involved in the story and got a lot of screen time in the animated Stuff , while overall I do like her in this game , but it feels like they could do a lot more with her in the current era , and considering people actually like her already and what they did with Ed and Luke from 5 over to game 6....not to mention dee jay ... viper is too damn good
This character is and always will be broken until those burn kicks become negative.

@0ShinAkuma0 I would pay to see that! :)
Viper is probably one of the hardest characters to master. To do the instant flame kick, her cancels, all need precise hand motions. 6:53 Tokido has been a Limonade!!! lol
@0ShinAkuma0 Two Matches Don't Count BTW
@Ntploc he has lived in the US for 5-6 years and has learned the game in the US, playing against US players. he himself has stated that he considers himself an american player in this game. in guilty gear, he is saudi as that is where he learned how to play the game.

advance
arcade stick i guess

+Nova Rain *arcade stick
nice stuff
@0ShinAkuma0 Much closer than I am at it. One day man, one day.
@martyr84 Can you list some?
1:00 anyone notice he throws the contoller?
how the hell does latif do all of those feints so rapidly?
Dat backstep...
latif number one
Was that Blanka cosplaying Akuma?!
Hands down, he is the best Viper. Imho better than Uryo in his Viper days.
Shin are you officially back???
If so... here is Homer Simpson for you man -----> ( 8^(I)
@Theb0x a couple of japanese players still keep visiting the us and keep winning all of the majors for street fighter 4 and the americans are yet to even cross 2nd round in the japanese tournies they participate in. and no there arent s class players every where, there was no top tier representatives in the us, just the handful of people like justin, ricky etc who do really well with their character.
@0ShinAkuma0 Yep, leave it to Latif to break something that isn't broken ha ha. He keeps the game exciting.
@0ShinAkuma0 it is hard work paying off but viper is still godlike.
Latif makes Viper seems broken.
He is my favorite ssf4 player.
