A sprawling subterranean city was uncovered in the popular Cades Cove area of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park early last week. The startling discovery was officially announced by the National Park Service in a press release this morning. We have summarized the findings below.

This certainly proves that the Cherokee people were much more advanced than most people thought. Find descendants of the Oliver family, and the tales of this lost city may be a part of their folklore.

For those incensed by the video, you should take a look at the date directly underneath and realize what this is. And for those who continue to be irate, there's a difference between a "downright lie" and an April fool's joke. If a similar "joke" had been pulled on someone else, it would have been just fine. We just need to learn to have a laugh now and then ... as much at ourselves as at others.
The original of this video was clearly labeled as an April Fool's joke.
Great discovery, but really makes me mad that they won't let tourist enjoy this cave. Why must everything be kept private especially in a public park?!

I moved to the Asheville, Nc. area from Charleston, Sc. to open a business after a visit to the Biltmore Estate in 2009. I simply fell in love with the Great Smoky Mountains. Anyway, I've Been to Cades Cove many, many times. Even before moving to the area. I truly love Cades Cove. I have friends coming to visit me from Palm Beach Fla. ((3-2018)) I plan to take them to visit Cades Cove. Moreover, Cades Cove is a magical and breathtaking experience. Lastly, Bull Vine, I agree with you completely. Nevertheless, I do hope one day they open-up the tunnels for visitors. Preston Higgins.

If this is in any way true whatsoever, I doubt VERY much that the Cherokee had anything to do with this place. HOWEVER, the Cherokee DO have legends about an earlier people in the mountains of eastern Tennessee and western North Carolina that they called the Moon-eyed People. They were supposedly subterranean dwellers and the Cherokee claim to have defeated them in a series of battles and driven them off into the west.

There is no underground city in Cades Cove, BUT there are underground caverns... check out nearby privately- owned Tuckaleechee Caverns.. impressive!
What makes it believable is that's exactly what mainstream science would say about it.
As an April Fools joke, that is a doozy and deserves applause.
The tunnels are far older. Compare with the tunnels/cave in Turkey, Bosnia, et al. This is way older than 13k when the Younger Dryass comet re-arranged the earth.
Cherokee didn't build. Clovis or pre-clovis built this.

You will kneel B4 Zodd and answer for your lies! Those cabins have been rebuilt many times, by the park service, over the years. The people walking over those floors wear them out over time and many feel the need to carve their names into the walls. Zodd has been there many times. If there were Cherokee warriors hiding in caves, Zodd would have found them.
