"So the plan is to start crankin' out these tutorials every week" - Sam Light on the 20th of February 2019, TH-cam, Planet Earth (probably) Love your videos man, you're one of the most down-to-earth, awesome, chill-vibed kiteboarders out there. Huge respect, and im glad you didnt kill yourself posting 1 tutorial every week :D Next up on Sam Light tutorials - "Aight, i've run out of tutorials, so heres how to zip your kitebag. DONT zip into your kite, otherwise just go at it. This is Sam Light, and thank you for watching." Have a good one mate, and keep at it! You rock :D
Hey Sam you are a legend! I am just writing down what still confuses me, if you could do any of that it would be great. Cheers! a) Heliloops. Which arm initiates the loop front or back, tips on the timing. Please explain it for dummies. b) How to ride with lots of power, body position, where is the weight, how to handle gusts c) Proper timing for jumps, when to send and how hard and when to pop depending on where the kite is d) kite and board choice for getting into big air e) how to self rescue when the bar breaks
Hey Sam , the basic tricks are covered all over the youtube in different ways (really explicit or just showing the trick). I like how you presented this transition and now i'd like to see some more when you are doing them. I'd be curious to see a tutorial for basic things which are really useful for all the tricks coming like: - pro stance while riding - pro stance for starting a trick - load and pop as it's the base of every trick - some tips on how to train on land - the Heli Loop - haven't seen this one anywhere on youtube Thanks !
Awesome, I thinks it really cool that you will be doing these every week. If could, it would be nice if you did a video on kite loops and big jumps, and backmobe and those sort of tricks. Thanks
Awesome content so far Sam! Always happy to watch new vlogs/videos! I would really be happy to watch a tutorial of how to „come down“ after jumping high. Like heliloops, landingloops. Not really good tutorials on youtube so far about that.
nice one. I know that all the people will asking to do standard tricks from easy to hard . But mb you can do 1 more basic tutorial ?- how to land (what mistakes are common usual: legs and knee position, bar movement etc) - it's really hurts some times cause I don't have correct reflex.
Hey Sam, was trying to do this in my last session so perfect timing! Been trying to jump too but haven't got it figured out yet, would love if you could do a tutorial for that too 🤙❤
This one was really Nice Sam :)! Is there anyway where you can film it where i can see the kite and your board... and realise what the timing is ... That would make it amazing!!! xx
Great videos! How about a tutorial on riding upwind, and the pros/cons of different tactics: low kite, lots of edging, well powered v higher kite, and moderate to slow speed to reduce apparent wind
A front roll tutorial would be great, managed it once (luck more than judgement) and lost it since :(. The feeling of stomping the landing compared to back roll was awesome would love to be able to do them at will!!
Hi Sam. I've watched all your videos. They are great. Can I ask for a tutorial for Back rolls please. I've watched other videos about this. I've tried back rolls numerous times but I keep looping the kite. Any tips on how to stop looping the kite when back rolling. It's great landing the back Roll and kite looping but I want to do it without kite loops. Thanks. Jonny. P.S - Any chance u can get up to Scotland for a kite session?? Be great to see u send it.
take your back hand off your bar and move your front head at the edge of your bar until you start having them dialed in . probably you are riding with both hands on the bar quite centered now (like it's normal) . after you start doing them, you can move your front hand back at center
I've been jumping like 10 to 12 meters for a while now, would love a tutorial on the bigger jumps and bigger airtime on flat water! I know the edge hard/send hard kind of deal, but edging hard and sending hard has quite a lot of technique that I'm sure you know all about!
I'm a beginner trying to master the water start. Since I live in NYC I get to kite maybe once a year so skill fade is a big issue. Last time I took a lesson was in Isla Holbox a few weeks ago. One to two foot swells and boats anchored nearby did not make for an easy learning experience. But anyway. I could body drag upwind and had pretty good kite control. My problem was crashing the kite on the start because I couldn't get the timing and anticipate early enough to begin the upswing in time. Other videos don't carefully explain the bar control inputs and resulting kite movements. Any tips for mastering the water start would be useful.
Sam, i got a question: I got issues with two of my brand new Slingshot Bars. Its the one with the "over the bar trim" and the swivel right above the chicken loop. After a backroll or loop this swivel just won`t work right. The centre lines keep beeing twisted and i have to untwist them manually by turning the swivel by hand. I had two older Bars with the Swivel on top of the bar and cannot remember this issue at all. Please help me, Slingshot customer Service doesnt have a solution for me. Do you experience the same? Anyway: Great Content,
I’d like to know what to do with the kite when you jump high. I try to keep it over my head but in the end it’s just an awkward mess. Also how to heli look. Can’t seem to find anything on that. Maybe I didn’t look hard enough 😊. Thanks for the video.
Hi Sam, can you explain exactly how you steer the kite from left to right but NOT passing 12 o’clock position. Let’s say from 10 to 2 o’clock . Is there another movement of the bar necessary ?? Regards
Pull as strong as possible on your front hand, and do not stop before loop is done, that's all :) (I started to do some bodydraging, I think it helps to understand how it works
Please do a tutorial on how to time a late backroll after a kiteloop properly. Or maybe how to combine frontrolls with kiteloops. There are already so many of those standard tutorials and I dont see much sense in just repeating whats already out there.
Tutorial for doing simple plane toe side... 🙏🙏🙏....for the life of me im not being able to get this down... its killing me... i can switch but i lose power and cant go upwind at all. 😕😕
Great tutorial! Added to kitingsheep transitions library. Here is a list for your next tutorials videos! kitingsheep.com/trickgrading/ Would be great to get your feedback on grading!
That's the best way to transition for me, more forgiving than a standard transition. Thanks for your video!
I've watched all of your tutorials several times. Didn't realize this was your first one. it's worth watching again to refine the timing.

Thanks and keep up the good content
I would love to see a proper kite loop tutorial since you are one of the best riders in the world 😁
Such good quality video! Thanks Sam.
Carving into a toe side then pop into a 180 would be cool.
Really good, accurate and short, the shorter the better!!
Thanks Sam - loving the vids. Deffo a jumping one for me...especially how to stop stalling the kite. I often seem to make that mistake...Simon
Brilliant - great - nice to see some more basic skills being given a good explanation. More of the intermediate type skills please!

Backmobe tutorial would be cool!
High speed down loop carves in flat water are super fun...

Hello Sam, a quick question, what is the camera you use on your sail? Because the horizon does not move ...
Like #493 and subscribed. Keep them coming👍
It would be awesome if you could do a tutorial for a board-off... thx a lot!
To my point of view I would prefer wake style tutorial from Sam rather than old school ....

Hey Sam !!! How big are your fins that you use when doing that turn ...
I use small fins but it's personal preference, bigger fins are easier
Sam. Thanks for this video. Where is that flat water location?
