This is extremely helpful, especially as a beginner who didn't know how to do the stitch when I started but figured it out as I went. PS--for any other beginners on a project with a stitch other than what she uses in the video, who are like me and don't know how to find the "beginning" of the stitch: put in the lifeline in multiple places. I ended up with two different lifelines in two different pieces of the stitch because I didn't know which was correct, so if the first one was wrong and didn't actually hold the stitches, the second one would still hold them and I wouldn't lose the project.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! As someone new to crochet, my project, a baby blanket, had a horrible curve to it because the first chain was tighter than everything else. You saved my project! Can't believe I actually fixed it!! Thank you again.

An absolute life saver! I have a beautiful blanket I’ve been working on for months but was contemplating unraveling it because my first several rows were way too loose. Now I don’t have to undo all my work 🙏🏽 thank you so much for this informative video/demo!

I had the beginning 20 rows of a graphgan that needed to be removed and a correct beginning 20 rows reattached. That being said, your calm easy explanation motivated to try. I got the scary cutting part then I started a snip. The rest literally pulled out. I actually frogged the bottom 20 rows! Awesome 😍 Thank you AGAIN ❤

Oh My Goodness! How have I been crocheting for almost 18 years and never heard of this?! Do you know how many projects I've gotten halfway or more through only to realize I screwed up or it's wonky and then have to take it completely apart? Thank you for sharing this awesome tip! 💜

  • @luluheehee

Tamara, you are an absolute superstar. Spent more than a week of my annual leave getting to the midpoint of a ridged blanket I was crocheting for my other half's granny, when I managed to pull out the first few stitches of my work... grrrr! Annoyed doesn't cover it. Ooh there was a hissy fit.😤😩 After trying various tactics to mend/hide the stitches including attempting to figure out how to create a new row of slip stitches directly from UK half-treble (US half-double) stitches, which almost melted my brain; 🤯🤕I'm so thankful I found your video! What a great tip. Have no doubt that your video genuinely lowered my blood pressure, saved my blanket, and will be useful for so many projects in fututre. It will take a little bit of adaptation for the type of blanket I'm working on but am so grateful you shared this! 👌👋🤗

I got up this morning and needed to know how to remove those beginning rows and found you!! I am so happy now. I had a basic concept. I knew I was going to cut the extra rows off but did not know how to save the edge. And did not know I had to replace beginning chain. Great instructions. You made my day. Thank you.

I am forever grateful to you for this tutorial. I just completed an adult poncho, before realizing that I started it with the number of stitches for a child size poncho. The pattern uses repeated rows of double crochet in the round, with increases in the center stitch of the front and back to form triangular tips. The poncho “grows” very gradually, from top to bottom.
I needed to remove five rows from the top to enlarge the neckline. Your method actually created a more well-defined edge than the original foundation row.
Thanks to you, I did not have to start over-ten days before it will be presented as a birthday gift. 😊

Thank you so much for your tutorial! I was able to follow your instructions to split a king sized crocheted blanket that was too heavy to fold into two twin sized blankets! I also used it to take rows off the beginning of a new blanket that were a slightly different color.

Just found your video. A life saver with the life line! I made a baby blanket for my friend, spent weeks on it, then realized the last 5 rows had an extra stitch 🤦🏻‍♀️ I actually needed the yarn I was taking off, so I followed my stitches, just cut one chain, and then it unraveled easily. Glad you showed that you should slip stitch it afterwards. I’m adding a boarder, so I can hide this surgery 😂

  • @Dianepurls
    @Dianepurls ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thank you for the video... Saved my lovely shirt from being HUGE! (Calad Shirt that I fudged ended up a bit too wide.) BUT... I wanted a longer end to sew in with less risk of loosing the first stitch, so I cut the 4th stitch from the end and unpicked those 4 out. The other end of the stitch that I cut, much to my delight and surprise, unzippered like a normal chain stitch would! No mess, no garbage can needed! (I got lucky, I know... over 200 stitches and I might have started from the other end and that wouldn't have unzippered. But now that I know it will/can... if one end doesn't unzip the other end of the row will! :-) Knitter tip: Use your knitting needles instead of needle and thread to pick up the stitches. Also doing a sewn BO in a knitterly way so having the stitches on a knitting needle is handy.

Thank you so much. I'm making my mom a king sized blanket. I started out with single crochet stitches and quickly realized that was too much work. Keep in mind I'm using thin yarn. I switched to triple crochet stitches and was initially going to keep it that way. After changing my mind to having only triple stitches, I wasn't sure how I would fix the blanket. Your video helped soooooo much!!! You're a god send. 😊

I am making 6-day snowflake blanket. At the end, I decided to have only 2 rows of white for the ends, but the beginning was 9 rows. I have spent 3 days ripping out from the bottom, only got the chain and foundation row out, I almost cut it last night. I thought "internet" ...thank goodness, running a thread first!!! Thank you for this!! Seriously, I couldn't imagine that there would be anything out there, glad to know I am not the only one. Wish I knew of this 40 years ago!

This is incredible! Thank you so much. I accidentally made a neckband far too long for the necklace of the sweater, but have only realised this as I've been sewing it on. And of course I sewed it on starting with the end side, leaving the beginning dangling free...but now I might be able to save it without having to undo the sewing!

Oh my gosh thank you so very much! I am in California and just made a blanket then realized that I had begun with loose stitches that tightened up as I progressed, which has led to me needing to remove the first 6 inches. I will remove that portion and just unravel it and add it back on to the top, but removing the bottom and not losing my base chain stitches has scared the dickens out of me! Thank God you were here to help!!!!

1:32 Wow! This is an amazing find. I have been sitting here heart-broken after finishing a very large blanket (all but the border) which has many different color changes with different stitches in it. I had purchased a very expensive kit online and finally got around to starting it after waiting over 3 years. Then realized how the width at the bottom was way too wide; I had already ripped it out once after about 15 rows, but now it’s basically done. It is not straight - but only near the beginning rows. It’s a lot of stitches across but at least it may be possible to fix and I will have learned something very USEFUL! I will be pretty scared to use those scissors but I have to try! You are a genius! Thank You!

I'm working on a scarf as a holiday gift and my first few rows were too tight. Thank you for this tip!

Thank you! I was on the last skein of a large-ish blanket before I noticed that the first skein was done with a larger hook. I was almost reconciled to just leaving it but tried a google search and found this fix so now my OCD isn't being stressed.

Thank you! This was very helpful! I was able to save a new baby blanket I was crocheting instead of ripping it all out.

Thank you for this video! I have a project that’s been sitting unfinished because the yarn started to fall apart. Now I can fix it and get it done.
