    I love taking my 1993 model D1 for a ride. Mine is Bordeaux and has +/- 25,000 miles. I have had some oil leaks already fixed by me. It has a lot of power. So far I've had a lot of pleasure driving it. Big hug from Portugal

    Thank you for making this video! I have a 1990 ZX-11 and a 1991 ZX-11. Both have 12,000 miles and both have been sitting for a while. I am enjoying watching you go through your ZX-11 while sorting out the issues and getting it running smoothly again. The check ride video was great. I am subscribing! I was just like you on the low speed take off and maneuvering around.

    I love those old tanks. My brother had a 1986 GPZ1000RX and that hauled arse mate. I rode it once when I was 18 and it was the biggest thrill of my life. I had lusted after the ZZR-1100 when they came out. They just looked the business back then. Still a top machine by today's standards.
    I ended up going from a 250 Honda straight to a '94 ZX9R B1 and rode that for 12 years.
    Had a few different bikes in between but the Kawasaki's always had a place in my heart.

    Its so unfortunate this is someones fix up job from your work garage for this ZX11 series, and only 6 uploads, but you did state in the " Kick-Off Carb/Idle Vid" that you didn't want to spend a lot of time on the job.

    great work - no "italian tune up" to blow the dust off the heads? ie revving out to max - I get to borrow my mate's zzr1200 (he changed the final drive to match the 1100, hence still officially making it the world's fastest production bike) and I have to over gear it too but surprising nimble

  • @MichaelZZRrider
    @MichaelZZRrider 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice work getting it back on the road mate. Just a question, is there a reason why you did not blip the throttle when going down the gears because ZZR does not have a slipper clutch.

    • @2wheelworkshop
      @2wheelworkshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks mate. It was the first time i had ridden it and to be honest, it felt a bit awkward at first (especially at low speed) so rev matching went out the window to begin with.

    This is going to be my first bike, I know it’s crazy, but tell me is it possible to maintain it comfortable at low speeds until you get the hang of it?

    • @2wheelworkshop
      @2wheelworkshop  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would advise against it. These bikes are stupid fast. It doesn't take much of a twist of the throttle and you can get yourself into trouble real quick. To put it into perspective, the ZX11 was the fastest production motorcycle in the world when it was released and its not far behind a Hayabusa.

      @@2wheelworkshop Hi, came from another account after one year to update you. It's all nice, didn't drop it or crashed, but I don't like to speed up so it's all good. I am completely in love with this motorcycle, the only downside is, in my country (Brazil), it's really hard to find mechanics like your that work on carburetors. But yeah man it's a hell of a bike and so comfortable for short and mid-range trips, and even mine being almost 30 years old, necks still turn to look at it.

      @@2wheelworkshop same here... i couldn't give her a test ride when i bought her (breaking my first rule) because my clutch wrist was wrecked from an accident not long before. when i first got her out i realized my assumption that a bike that old ('92) couldn't surprise me was dead wrong. puts the newer, faster stuff in a whole new perspective for me. a ZX14 has got to be mental.

    • @Stromma1100
      @Stromma1100 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I can hear it to but I don't think it's the valves (but if it is it's one of the easiest bikes to shim valves on). I think it's either a slight rattle from the cct (which is quite common) or it's the alternator chain tensioner inside the clutch cover. They are also known to fail and there's some tensioner fixes out there. Easy to check if you take the clutch cover off as a failing tensioner will leave marks on the clutch pressure plate as it hits that if it fails (which can be nasty and usually ends up expensive). I've fitted tension fixes on all zed's I've owned and on a couple of my friends bikes as it's a common fall.
