Sometimes gel padding makes the toe box too tight. Here's my favorite tip ever! When I used to race on an alpine ski team, our ski boots had to fit perfectly so we did a lot of surgery on them. Here's what you do: put on your shoe, boot etc.. and walk around for a while. Take them off and put red lipstick on exactly the part of the balls of your feet that hurt. Then put your shoe back on so the lipstick transfers to that part of the shoe. Now cut out a small piece of gel padding and double stick it there. It will give you cushioning exactly where you need it.

Warning, powder sunblock does not provide the amount needed to provide full/effective coverage so please keep this in mind that its best to opt for lotion/cream sunscreen and typically avoid both powder or spray sunscreens as its basically the amount needed to be applied in these versions is not effective or comparable to normal lotion versions for sun/anti-aging protection. Best suggestion if you are too oily is to use the rice blotting sheets another user mentioned or to apply your face powder as a touch up after reapplying a sunscreen (I think Eucerin and La Roche Posay have wonderful tinted sunscreen that serves as foundation or at least might work for people. I also like the invisible version and just apply this every two hours on top of my foundation and it sinks in seamlessly. If its too noticeable, using a cushion or pressed powder for touch ups/to remove the glare). Good luck, be safe and glowing out there~

Not necessarily for summer, but having a mini sewing kit at hand is always helpful, for any wardrobe malfunctions. As for the beauty department, get some of those rice sheets to remove excess sebum or sweat from the skin, keep them in your purse and use them in the ladies room only, not in public. And last but not least, get a hand fan. I think traditional spanish or asian fans are much more elegant than the ridiculous battery operated ones and look fancier than just using a napkin to get some air. I live on a hot area and hand fans are an obligated accesory at this point for me, I also have in different colors to match my clothes.

8:24 this is why I am so glad I know how to sew (I studied fashion design) and tbh, sewing a dart is the easiest thing in the world, so long as you measure it out precisely. It's literally only one line per dart.
It's easier to just buy a straight shirt that fits your boobs and shoulders well, and then have it darted (which would be super cheap cause it takes 5-10 minutes tops) or do it yourself. It's quite hard to find a shirt that fits both your boobs and waist well.

An easier fix for a gaping shirt is Hollywood Fashion Secrets tape. I thought everyone knew of it. It's double stick tape for fabric. I have had it on a shirt through many washings and dryings and it's still sticking. It's removable, though. You don't have to leave it on. Anyway, there's no sewing necessary and it can be used on delicate fabric where a snap would show through or make it droop. I have a few of the strips in my bag at all times. In fact, Hollywood Fashion Secrets has many fashion emergency saves in their arsenal. I have a whole kit.

Anna, Thank you for the great tips as always. Here are some of mine. For the ladies with foot issues like me, I recommend Vionics brand. They have several elegant varieties. I will NEVER suffer foot pain for fashion again. Also, keep jewelry cleaner at home so your pieces always look great. If you are traveling, a dab of toothpaste will work in a pinch on gold pieces. For the church ladies, I like to wear the dresses with ruffles and higher necklines. Even a simple sheath dress can look amazing with a scarf and the right accessories. Hats are so elegant for church service and can really make a statement. Stay beautiful ladies both inside and out!

I could add something more - a jewelry polishing cloth. Dirty, slivered jewelry looks really terrible and cheapens the look a lot. As I love jewelry and wear it every day, lately I have purchased a special liquid in the jewelry shop. I just have to put my silver earrings or bracelets into the liquid for 5 seconds, polish it with a normal tissue and I am good to go :)

....Great tips, and I'd like to add that a small " emergency kit", in a small clear makeup bag,( or any type of make-up bag ) is important. Nail clippers, small nail file, tweezers, safety pins, Band-Aids, eyeglass repair kit,( travel size) Anti Static spray , small hairbrush ( I usec the " Wet " brand), small can of dry shampoo.
These little things are lifesavers, the make-up bag can easily be put into your tote, so it's always with you.
Edit : I stopped using the velvet type hangers, after having some blouses ruined. They were mis - shapen on the shoulders, and one even ripped a bit.
I use them only for hanging folded sweaters, and certain trousers, I use mostly the " clear crystal " hangers, so I'll be sticking with those. 🙂👍🏻

I'd been extremely skinny for the first half of my life (due to health issues) and always had the too-loose-belt problem. Instead of making extra holes, I've always been choosing belts with adjustable length (and still do). Thus you don't have to make any ugly extra holes. Just measure the length you need, remove the buckle, cut of any excess length from the buckle end of the belt, and screw the buckle back on. Neat, clean, and looks like it was made like this😁

Hi Anna, do you think you can do more videos on shoes? And also instruct us on how certain shoes should fit, and if it’s a good idea to wear no show socks with them? My favorite are ballet flats, they don’t hurt like heels do. But I don’t know what looks elegant and what’s cheap looking. Also, knowing what kind of trousers to wear with them is another thing, can you wear ballet flats with bootcut trousers or they have to be slim fit or straight fit? I get that I’ll have to hem them to wear them with ballet flats.

Great tips, thank you! I always keep a tiny bottle of superglue in my purse - I've repaired my watch strap with it, friend's earring, colleague's shoe, my own shoes quite many times, a child's porcelain tea cup her doll was really sad about, a broken nail etc. The most dramatic case was repairing my own shoe in the tour bus, 15 minutes before a walking tour. Mischief managed :) Another really useful habit is keeping 3-5 already threaded sewing needles near the mirror in the hallway, since that's where the last minute panic mostly occurs (OMG, it's two hundred o'clock already and now this button decides to fall off/this seam starts unravelling). Just take the the needle with the right colour thread, a few stitches and problem solved. Mine are black, white and purple.

I don't use a lint roller ... the adhesive can damage delicate fabrics or leave a sticky residue ... and you make trash each time you use it. Instead, I have a lint brush. Stroke it on clothing in one direction, it picks up all the lint, hair, etc. Then stroke it in the other direction on a scrap of fabric or a kitchen towel to remove the lint from the brush.
You can buy these at fabric stores or online sewing and tailoring suppliers. I got mine from WAWAK in New York. They're surprisingly inexpensive.

I have a couple of pairs of suede shoes that get dirty, or get water spots on them (usually from when I wash my hands at work and a little water drips on the toes of the shoes. I am VERY careful about having "inside shoes" and "outside shoes" and never mix the two. It helps keep my good shoes in better condition to never wear them outside or on concrete). Dabbing at dirty spots with vinegar and water spots helps a lot!! The water spots on some light tan suede shoes I have totally disappeared! You can also use the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser sponges on the more canvas-y material of white shoes. I also will sometimes use a toothbrush and toothpaste to clean the white canvas material of my shoes (it really works!!).

After years of wearing the wrong size shoe, my feet, and body are paying the price. I learned from my podiatrist that most women wear the wrong size shoe, usually atleast a 1/2 size too small and always too narrow in the toe box. I have reconciled myself to the fact that I am actually a size US11 (or even a US12 if I add an insole) and while this has limited my choices, my feet, legs, and even hips are so much happier.

Yep. I have issues fitting my arch so stopped wearing heels. Then I learned heel to ball ratio and found heels that worked and set me properly, my weight on the heels. I bought 2 in each of my wardrobe colors.

    • @kathrynlouiseberman7919
      @kathrynlouiseberman7919 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

, what shoes did you find? I'm always on the lookout. My podiatrist told me to wear at least a 1/2" heel at all times, but not more than 3" b/c I have no arch. Finding those in an 11-12 is so hard. I did buy 2 pairs of Vionic Mariana heels and 2 pairs of Tory Burch T-Hardware loafer b/c they had extended sizes. But for a casual, classy shoe for summer I had to resort to buying a men's white leather slip on from Lacoste. It's perfect, but I never thought I'd wear a men's shoe in anything other than a Lucchese boot :)

I got good hangers with Chanel, and Etro purchases but didn’t always accept them if purchased during travel. I recently repurchased the hangers off of eBay because many mass market hangers offered now e.g., on Amazon, are longer in length as they need to work for all sizes. Unfortunately, these longer hangers will make impressions in the shoulders of smaller or even medium sized tops that are knit or silk. The designer hangers are expensive but really help keep my few investment pieces from getting ruined.
