Ocarina of Time Custom Map - The Shallows

- This one is another overworld area although it's a little more important cause it has the entrance to the third dungeon I've got planned. Going todo my best next year to hopefully get something related to this romhack released, it definitely won't be a the whole thing but I'd like to get a mini dungeon out just to go through the process of what steps I need to take to go from the debug rom to a playable experience.
Sometimes I stream this stuff over on:

If you'd like to join in the process of helping out design areas hop on over there :) - เกม
All these cool maps you make kind of remind me of when I was a kid and I'd have dreams about strange areas I'd never seen before in games like OoT and Banjo Kazooie.
You too?? It was like modding before it was a thing 😂 Maybe thats the inspiration for these.
@@AMC5274Yeah I think everyone who grew up with ocarina of time had those dreams
Yup, I had them as well lol. I always had dreams of finding hidden and unexplored areas in Ocarina of Time and Super Mario 64. I was always so obsessed with those games as a kid, and I always had these dreams of finding new areas in really secret locations that would lead to new dungeons, and new towns to explore. It always left me super disappointed to never find those areas in the actual game. I wanted those games to never end 😂
Since the internet wasn't as accessible either, I feel that always led us to have the wildest imaginations possible. How many more secrets does the game have? What if there are things I missed somewhere? Stuff like that. It was a blast
Hmm, all I had was Wallmaster nightmares, but I guess thats just me.@@KusogakiRenfir
@@superdaveozy7863I still remember this one nightmare I had about being lost in the Gerudo Dessert 😭 And another where I was trapped in the Water Temple. Wonder what inspired that one lmao
I like the bombchu puzzle with the gate, you never need a bombchu in OOT.
You do in master quest
You need bombchus in ganon's tower in the Spirit Temple section.
I like the sunlight shining through the gaps in the cave ceiling, just make sure they're all going in the same direction!
I'd love to see even a romhack from you. Even if it's something short like the ice cavern. I think you really nail the atmosphere in your maps and you love to try exploring them myself!
I would have to wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment.
The sun pouring in from above through the cave holes at 1:22 is a really nice touch!
This gives me a very eerie feeling of something just being wrong... it's kind of unsettling... It feels almost dreamlike...
It was probably not intentional, but when you approached the more open area at first it felt like you were about to enter a loading zone, like the area was just a jpeg you were about to walk into, but it felt so surreal when i realized it was 3D and a whole area, I think that added a lot to the charm of this. Great work on this!
I loved that part. And the music just goes mute without a loading screen. That's a neat touch.
X2
Strangely, it took me until this video to realize what the original Zora's Domain music was even going for, because it's this really well made map with sand and shallow water that gives me the appropriate "beach" feeling. Nicely done!
Wonderful atmosphere. Reminds me of exploring tide pools as a kid
This area looks amazing, it looks like a proper water dungeon! The music transition worked really well and I loved the bomb chu and arrow puzzle too! Great work man!
It's small, but I really like it! The lights shining through the cave, the dragon mouth entrance, the way it looks like barnacles have festered onto the ruined tower.
This looks dope! I love the rainy, abandoned beach area in general!
You really managed to cram a lot of atmosphere in to a relatively small area. It's very impressive.
I love the kinds of environments people make for OoT romhacks, I wish I knew how to make them.
All you need is the custom music to tie it in nicely. Looking stellar as always!
all your vids are looking beautiful man, would be really excited to play this! subbed
Wow, this looks incredible! Keep it up man, looking forward to seeing more from you
That was really good, loved the mini puzzle at the end aswell
Excellent job, you have some very unique and interesting maps. Inspiring work.
These are so incredible! I'm going to echo what others have said, but I desperately want to play a romhack from you. Atmosphere, design, scripting all 10/10, feels like a genuine Zelda experience
Maybe the story of this place could be the origin of where the river Zoras came from? the snake looking statue reminds of them.
Wow, such a beautiful stunning map! Can't wait to see more from you
I love the light shining through the holes in the ceiling of the sea cave! Reminds me of the Seaside level of Phantasy Star Online Episode II. SwankyBox's "Gal Da Val Island" video shows what I'm talking about.
Lovely! Can’t wait to see what you do next, I’m subbed with notifications on 😊
I can’t lie I’ve been getting a lot of custom maps in my recommendations and idk why but I’ve been watching them and this 1 by far is the best 🙌🏻
This looks awesome I am excited to see it come together
A very believable Ocarina map. It feels like a real place to explore. So much intrigue and atmosphere. I'm happy people are keeping this game alive in all these amazing ways. Excellent work, friend!
the OOT romhack scene and the map editors are awesome. Imagine to reconstruct the ALTTP or LA in the N64 engine with new textures or using the PC decomp method.
hell yeah man. put a zora diving minigame on a tower by that palm tree
I've been waiting my entire life for this
dude, this is insane, well done ggs
Very cool. Looks like an expansion to the Hero of Time's story
Would definitely play
It could even fit as Hyrule's equivalent of Termina's Great Bay.
Looking sick dude!
You nail it my friend, this could be a legit area of an N64 Zelda without a doubt. One question, are you using Zelda Decomp with Fast64, Sharpocarina or some other type of tool that I don't know about? Just curious. Keep it up!
Cheers :) I am currently using SharpOcarina at the moment but I think for what I want to do I'll need to learn Decomp
@@ColonelPugsly Yeah the first thing I'm going to be doing in the new year is learning Decomp and Fast64, this way I can get a lot more custom content in
Looks incredibly legit. It would be interesting to see fully playable areas.
this such a cool entrance for a dungeon
Super cool. The water areas in the N64 Zelda games always felt magical to me so seeing this and getting to experience that all over again is great! Keep it up!!
This is really cool, memorable even :)
I'm obsessed with these maps, wish I coild play them!
there is something funny to me that 2 of your thumbnails featuring an interesting landmark,
end up being much smaller than expected.😆
you very much have a skill for making visually interesting diorama-like areas though.
also those fairy fountains in the previous video were perfect. the outcast one was a real nice concept!
This has Diddy Kong Racing and Goldeneye DNA in it.
This is so beautiful, I'm gonna drop dead
Woooow this is amazing!
Looks pretty good.
this looks great
This map is beautiful !
Very nice music choice and timing on the halt. Feels good with the spacing and enemy placement. Maybe needs just a few more things, seems a tad empty at the end.
This area is beautiful.
Cool stuff!
this is amazing
these videos are awesome
really cool stuff
Keep the good work bro' !!!
This looks really fucking good
You and Debug Log and the Indigo team need to do a teamup in the future.
This is neat! It's as if this is a secret area found somewhere in Great Bay!
By the way, what is with the switch you hit with an arrow? It looks like the kind you would find inside Jabu Jabu's Bell,y and it looks a bit unsettling. It's almost as if either a parasite has taken hold of the dungeon or the dungeon itself is actually alive.
Amazing map.
That Cave gave me SM64 vibes. Hope this'll have custom cutscenes soon. :)
I'm looking forward to a rom hack from you almost as much as I'm looking forward to botw2
I wonder if you could play a little more with contrast in that cave instead of having so much lit up. Your work is really impressive. It's cool to see developers for this classic game.
Much cooler and much more creative than BOW and TOK
This place looks realyl cool!
But that Jabu button on in the stone tower ... it's kinda creepy XD
Very cool!
“The Shallows” sounds like a Dark Souls area
I always wanted a 3rd N64 Zelda.
@pugsly you need to open a gofundme and have a team help you with the more mundane tasks while you direct. I’m sure you’d have a lot of people throwing you money to help you create a nostalgic romhack
@pugsly I just saw every Zelda vid you made and I absolutely crave more. You have a beautiful gift that more people need to experience
this is very nice.
Soooo cool!
This looks like it could be straight from Legend 64
thats excellent
awesome
This looks pretty awesome. Are you gonna make this for the PC port?
Ocarina of Gaga custom map - The Shallows Now
that looks fuckin badass
I would love to play this in an actual story.
I could have sworn the thumbnail was Sonic Adventure
one small thing. how are the beams of light coming in from 2 directions? are there 2 suns?
This is so cool. I wish this was real.
Great design on the map. Only criticism I can find is that the switches are a bit cryptic.
fire the arrow when they're not moving, like at the peak of their jump, lol
Cooooool
Are you designing your own fangame with these maps or just doing these for fun? They are greatly inspiring.
Hoping to combine them all into something playable one day but still have a lot to learn about the tools and doing anything custom
@@ColonelPugsly lol same.
Cool.
Don't Z target enemies with the bow, you'll have better luck manually aiming at them from a distance.
Are you in touch with the Indigo folks at all? I’ll bet they’d be really impressed by this amazing work. …Maybe a collab??
I haven't spoken to them at all personally but I really admire all the stuff they are doing :)
Put your goddam account so I can give you money to help in this divine work
Is this the really zora domains
Where was this? I don't remember this part.
Dónde puedo conseguirlo para juguralo 🥺
Is this from a straight up fan game?
Is this for nintendo 64
What program do you use for the custom maps?
I use Maya for modelling and SharpOcarina for import them into the game, place objects, etc.
How would you throw a map into maya?
I create them from scratch in Maya though most people use blender. If you're interested in creating something yourself you can try this tutorial th-cam.com/video/yJS83VECD9U/w-d-xo.html
@@ColonelPugsly Ok yeah I was thinking that. Appreciate the info.
all these custom maps r so cool but ⁱ feel like this is the closest to a real zelda map.
How’d you make and import it?
I use the same method as this tutorial currently: th-cam.com/video/yJS83VECD9U/w-d-xo.html
Map design: 10/10
Gameplay: 6/10
Patch link?
yt algorithm has blessed me with your channel and others - recommend me some good oot romhacks plz!!!
Looks kinda dull ngl
Garbage
Do better jerk, this map is great.
Nice map and all, but you need to work on your arrow timing.
