Many existing LR owners are getting rejected full stop on the LR’s own insurance so they need to up their game quickly or face further problems (if they can get any worse!)
Thats because they don't understand the point of LR insurance - The policy is designed to give cover for people who can't get covered. If you can get cover elsewhere, no matter how expensive, its not the policy for you!
@@davidgirvan6007 Exactly….thats the basis of the agreement with the MGA (It’s only a white labelled insurance product) and effectively nothing to do with JLR!
Yet JLR and this video are framing this as JLR insurance saving the day. Loads of customers are getting rejected. The policies if you get on are only provided on a month on month basis so can be terminated at any time. Hardly the bespoke and revolutionary product this video suggests.
And he says “when you get JLR insuring their own products, you’re insuring with the ultimate specialist”………and yet strangely they wouldn’t give him a quote 🤔 on the car the lent him.
This sounded more like a paid for JLR insurance plug - and that’s fine but you should be clear if that IS the case, if JLR had addressed security before the car was launched perhaps owners would not be as penalised as they are
It's funny my next door neighbour mentioned his recent quote for his Evoque, plus 12 years no claims and they wanted £2k for the insurance. Its getting mad at the minute
Yeah it’s underwritten by LV/aviva who have lost millions on JLR products last year. They wouldn’t cover me although admiral gave me a very good price all things considered (1300 for 2019 autobio p525). Insurers are not a charity so unless JLR want to underwrite the loses nothing changes unless the security is fixed. The policy is mostly for new cars as they lost so many sales on new cars as people weren’t willing to pay the premiums. Meanwhile my car hasn’t had a recall notice yet for the security.
I also have been refused insurance by JLR, I’ve never claimed in my time driving which is over 20 years. So I have 21 years no claims, no points, and only drive the car for social use only. I’m 45 and drive Range Rover sport 18 plate. As things stand I won’t be buying another JLR product unless there’s a dramatic change there product.
Nice bit of puff for land rover from you. JLR insurance is expensive full stop, more than other providers. I use a specialist broker for two other 'high risk' cars, they couldn't help with my 2015 L405, still double last year's price and same via comparison sites. JLR have really let their customers down. You need to do more research on the topic as JLR have done nothing so far...
These range rovers are currently tanking in value especially with heavy theft. Insurance prices are getting out of hand. Some insurers are FLAT OUT REFUSING to insure them in London if you park the car on street or on driveway but no gate. They are too easy to steal. A hole can be cut in the back 3 wires joined and with no key car will start and drive. Tracker can be in 1 of about 3 places in a range rover aswell easy to disable and keyless entry signal manipulators easy to find. I know someone whos range rover was stolen at bloody tesco car park using a keyless key device.
For the last 3 years I have had very uncompetitive quotes from JLR insurance with the rest of the market being between 1/4 - 1/2 of the JLR quote. Why didn't you look up a similar vehicle on a selling platform and use that vehicles registration plate to obtain a quote to see how competitive or not JLR insurance is?
Interestingly I am thinking of going back to a Range Rover. Already had 4 of them and 2 Jags. Been driving 40+ years, no claims ever, no health conditions, live in a low crime area. So literally just tried Land Rover Insurance for a quote on an approved 2020(69) Range Rover AB 3.0. - Result: Sorry we cannot insure you! Come on JLR. You really are hemorrhaging loyal customers. I was ready to buy. You sent me away!
Thank goodness for premier League footballers who will pay 30-40k a year insurance on these cars to keep everyone happy. Phew I will sleep easier tonight😂
Let's go to the comments. Oh boy. Yup. Everyone thinking the same. This is not some game changer. They're refusing to insure their own cars - and come on - they're not the underwriters in any event......
England market is one thing, worldwide the problem is RELIABILITY. 4 mechanics I've asked, all of them told me to RUN from LR unless I have thousands to reserve just for it for repair every year. I WANTED an Evoque, but I had to get a GLA cause I just couldnt risk it.
This is a beautiful car and I do disagree that it’s overpriced when you look at its direct competition.. I totally agree on the insurance front, absolutely bonkers and I know JLR are doing there own insurance now but there are downsides when you look at the on-line feedback where they are only offering insurance to a relatively select group of people.. Lastly, on the theft front, it is worth noting that only 12 Range Rovers have been stolen out of the last 12,000 sold and 17 from the last 17,000 Range Rover Sports… Som they are getting there…. Oh, and reliability, another area that’s been really improved.. I’ve had to have a new engine in my Discovery so I’m not biased to JLR but just want to support a business that employs so many UK residents…
Not seen the figures for Range Rover yet but as far as the RR Sport is concerned there were 12,228 supplied in 2023 with 9 reported stolen. That’s fact and by no means out of the ordinary.
Nice gig. You get a pile of 💩 for three weeks in return for saying really nice things about Range Rover forgetting to add that aside from theft build car or lack of is a real issue.
33k a year quote for insurance? That tells you everything. JLR are in a death spiral because they won't address the fact that their cars are very susceptible to theft. Insurance quote is just a 'go away" price obviously.

All very interesting Paul, but you haven't answered the fundamental question here....How much cheaper is JLR's Insurance than that found on a comparison site? We already know that they drive well....that's not the issue. This makes me suspicious that they actually aren't any cheaper, or that they are refusing London area business.

I have not heard of JLR thefts in Ireland but then you could not give them away over here such is their bad public perception for reliability. The only JLR product I would be in the market for is a Defender 90 short wheelbase commercial van type. Hard to get over here (only LWB) and the prices are crazy compared to the Toyota Landcruiser which is the better vehicle for hacking around in. I'm sorry but why cant JLR do something like putting a password or pin on the drivers display before starting up the car. Because if the key is cloned or something and the thieves can get into the interior of the car, then at least they will need a password to be able to drive it which only the owners would know. Hence less cars getting stolen. I think Tesla have something like this and it clearly works because barely any Tesla's get stolen. To me it sounds a little bit like a massive insurance scam. JLR car's are super easy to get stolen through design flaws. They get shipped off to random countries never to be seen again, all while insurance companies pay customers to get a new car again as their old one got stolen. Hence JLR making more money?
