Love your videos a big fan , I'm old school , grew up on 2 stroke bikes so gravitate to those . I have owned some big bore 4 stroke hondas and they are great but always go back to my roots . Riding one of my buddies big bore 2 strokes back in the 80's change my outlook, 400 penton did it for me , sold my MX 250 yamaha and bought a Maico 400 and never looked back . So I'm an old dude now and own 2 of my dream big bore 2 strokes both in pristine condition . 1982 Maico Alpha 490 and a 1983 Honda CR480 ... man its hard to beat that . Anyway , keep shooting those videos Kaplan and keep the history of those big bore 2 stroke motocross bikes alive , those are our roots and where it all started . Heckin' rad. I really appreciate a museum piece preserved, but it really brings me joy to see them ridden and enjoyed as intended by the original builders, even if just for a rip around the grounds.
I remember MAICO from the 70s. And Husqvarna. I used to race in my teens. I had Suzukis most of that time. Those were wonderful days. I get teary sometimes just watching you guys. At 64 I don't want to live anymore.
It's absolutely amazing to see these wicked bikes together. I love the cr 500 but I'd love to get my hands on a maico 490. Hell I've never ridding one or had the chance to touch one, but I've always wanted to get my hands one.
I had the first water cooled year 86 Maico Mstar 500. It was all ported and tuned to perfection. It was an absolute monster, and It would eat CR 500s like they were only 250s.
Currently rebuilding an 85 500 MStar, getting close to having everything rounded up, just missing a couple bushings for rear suspension. 85 had drum brake rear and front disc, luckily someone converted radiators to 86 mounting style years ago.
The pure sights and sounds of this video no messing about straight up badass big bore action looked like the most fun Friday ever! Kyle was absolutely rippin that sand spider haven't seen him ride much on the channel pretty cool.

The Maico mosh pit. There was this lady who had a garage sale and someone there knew that she was getting rid of a bowltacco big bore I wanted to buy it. This lady found out I was going there early that morning to buy it she was so afraid that I would die on. So it was already gone that mourning.

Those bikes together sound so smooth. They are not PINGING like my old Yz 490 would be in 5th gear my ya would ping so bad I had to e cause air boot would pull away from the carburetor the motor would flex. I would love to ride anyone of them the maico Team you guys are rippn on the MAICO MOSH PIT.
