@lenaaustin6692 not soon enough? Those some big words to say, wishing, death on another person. 😢 that's sad. Don't blame the band for that night, blame the owners of the station for having that flammable crap on the walls. Me and a friend were there. We were towards the entrance of the station. We got out thankfully, but still a tragic night. But, DON'T EVER, wish death on another person, KARMA HAS NO DEADLINE.

@@Malte-Micha Agreed. They weren't under-rated. They were huge for a while. And they played for 4 decades, in various iterations. The term under-rated is...... so over-used these days.

@jimmyz2098 They were under-rated because when Once bitten, Twice shy went off, people had no idea about the other songs.

    • @Malte-Micha
      @Malte-Micha 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

@bellaluv1070 Incorrect. They were still well known after their 87 and 89 records. In 91, Hooked was released and was in the top 20 on the Bilboard! That means IT SOLD WELL! People DID know of their songs. You might have missed that, but the billboards dont lie!! Their downfall didn't start until 1994!!!
In no way was Great White underrated.
After 1994, they still had successful tours and released two more albums later down the road. They are one of the few bands that made it through the 90's. Many eighties bands did not make it past 1991.
Even Motley Crue had no hits past 91 until 2008. W.A.S.P. as well made it through 90's. And are still active as of 2024.

I'm 56 and the summer of 1987 was the best in high school. I was playing in my first band, the music was great, girls wore mini skirts, a case of Budweiser was $10 out the door, you had to have a hookup to buy weed and cruising in my 72' Chevelle with a full cooler was unforgettable....well a few forgettable nights!
One Friday night before band practice my drummer and I stopped by my parents while he waited in the car. I came back and he said "Dude! You just missed a great new tune by Great White." We had practice and after the band cruised with the radio on and Rock Me came on. Other than the drummer we all heard it for the first time and partied all night long!

Great Band. One of my favorite 80s Bands, and the music is still great. It aged very well. I always thought they had kind of their own thing. Their own space. I always felt like it was LA's version of Southern Rock. Smoky, bluesy. But still rocked hard, with killer guitar riffs. And Jack was a great singer in that space. I'm sorry, and sad that he's gone. But also on the other hand... a bit surprised that Jack somehow managed to live this long. Rest well, Brother.

Great White was the first band I ever saw live in concert. They opened for Night Ranger at the U.P. State Fair in August of 1987. The last song they played was Rock Me which was their first hit song.

He was a great singer, but unfortunately never took proper accountability for the Station Night Club fire. And people should never forget that.

I saw them open for Priest in 84, they were rockin until the sheriff’s came on stage 😯
They said there was a tornado in the area and we had to go out to the concourse, so we started walking. That lasted all of 30 seconds and we all ran back to the front! 🤘😎
    R.I.P. Jack 🎤🙏

I have two older sisters. They would listen to bands like Great White. Whenever Once Bitten Twice Shy would play I would sing once bitten twice shy bibe because I couldn't say babe at the time. I still rock out to this song to this day. I love Great White!!! Rest In Peace Jack Russell!!!

Too sad. I saw them several times during the 80's. Great White put on great shows, and Jack had one of the most polished voices I've ever heard live. Truth - it's a sad day for rock and roll.... but thank you so much for the music and memories, Jack. Rock on.

Saw them at The Star Plaza in Indiana back in the 80s. Not only was their set terrific, but found out they did Zeppelin covers as they threw a handful into their encores. Expertly done. What a treat. Rock on, Jack 🤟💖

Mark is a part of my family and sometimes he would bring Jack over and all my uncles would party all night. I was only 18 but it was the time of my life back in 88
No place like LA in the 80s.
    Rest in peace, Jack.
Kids today will never understand what the time that was.
