How to make a Skybox in DOOM mapeditor, Zandronum Format and beyond.

- This teaches how to make a skybox in DOOM using GZDoom builder in Zandronum: doom 2 format. This can be applied to several other formats as well as other games. I first show the basics, which takes up to 4 minutes in the video, then how to make your skybox look real good and not absolute garbage. Enjoy!

Nice! I wanted to do something like this by actually building stuff around the map but this will make it all easier, thanks a lot.
I don't know about Zanondrum but in GZDoom you can set a Z height for the skybox viewpoint thing so you don't have to build a platform for it.
I still have no clue how to make the viewpoint, and sectors communicate.
What happens if I put a skybox in but then put another one in?

Hello, I have one question. Maybe you can help me. Why when I'm choosing command 337 "Line Horizon" I can't see this command in my list of commands (my list command is limited, and I have only 141 possible commands), and command called by GZDoom Editor like "Unknown", but in same time this command perfectly work?
I use GZDoom version R3107.

Can the different skybox be allowed on different sectors? I want to have multiple skyboxes on one map
I'm pretty sure myhouse.wad did exactly that. lol
Ok, how do you connect the two rooms? By connecting I mean how to make the viewpoint to project it to the other room. I didn't even know at the beginning that you need another room for this.
This is for Zandronum specifically, and all you need is the camera object/sector tag. Depends on how you do it.

doesnt work just shows the skybox or the texture its self
When it shows the textures thats when its working. The camera works as a "viewmodel" of sorts where it takes a picture of its surroundings and projects it to the skybox. You have to make the box containing the Camera thing more fancy to make the sky box more convincing. Similar to how TF2 Skys act.

that's because you are using Slade 3 as the map editor. This way works in UDB and GZDB specifically. Their are hundreds of ways of going about making a skybox. I suggest if you can't make a custom one in-game, take a screenshot of what you already have and loop the image, and set the looped image as the skybox in the MAPINFO Lump.
If the problem is that you get just a Black void when using the Skybox Viewpoint, try Edit the thing, and under "Actions/Tag/Misc" just change the color from Black to any other color. It solved it for me.
