EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH SILENT HILL WRITERS: www.podbean.co... Live Podcast Interviews with Resident Evil actors: crimsonheadeld... Survival Horror news: / crimson_head
2:28-2:37 is the best acting moment of the live action. I also find the running sequence a gloriously hilarious and don’t know why. And the Opening Intros with Chris lighting up and Rebecca’s imitation of 90’s Family Sitcom teen girl camera smirk and everyone else doing their best attempt at ‘cool person’. This is perfection and don’t understand why they remade that opening sequence 😂
Everyone mocks the voice acting, and for good reason. The dialogue is written horribly and the delivery is universally awkward. But I actually think this works in the game's favor, in terms of the horror factor. In isolation, yes, any one of these cutscenes could make the player laugh, but when you're playing the game, when you're exploring a dark, spooky mansion filled with extremely dangerous monsters, the fact that no one sounds or acts like a normal human being creates an odd, surreal atmosphere. Playing the original RE1 is like being stuck in a nightmare; nothing is quite "right." Later games substantially improved production quality, but no other game in the series has stuck with me, has given me nightmares and instilled a sense of dread as the PS1 original. As ridiculous as that may sound, I'm serious. The atrocious acting is legitimately scary.
You know I honestly think that another factor that adds to the overall eeriness is the bright look of the original version of the Spencer Mansion, particularly the main hall, it has a dreamlike-quality about it which contrasts the nightmare that lies within and outside the Spencer Compound
I'm not someone who hates remakes for the sake of hating them, in fact I like most covers of stuff better than the original, but RE1R isn't a good game if you ask me. The "improved" voice acting and dialogue are still bad, which somehow makes it worse than the original's voice acting and dialogue. The remake mansion refuses to stop trying to be a haunted house parody of itself. The original Spencer Mansion was much scarier because it looks like people actually live there (instead of some haunted house employees in remake) and now you're tasked with solving a murder mystery at a place that feels real, and not a parody of itself. This is great for immersion. Nowadays Capcom is OBSESSED with turning the lights off in every room/area they create, ad nauseum. Almost like they think it's the last thing the player would ever expect even though we just spent the last 10 hours in the dark. If or when they remake RE1 again, I sincerely hope they make it look/feel more like the original than RE1R did.
I know exactly what you mean but I think Silent hill 1 and 2 pull off this effect way better. They do it by having normal dialogue but everyone’s delivery is all completely off.
He was also in the Resident Evil Gaiden, which was for Gameboy color. Not a great game, but as a fan of the series I didn't hate it & being in a cruise ship filled with zombies was a lot of fun.
Compared to Resident Evil 2, 3 and Code Veronica, this game felt a bit more like an investigation than full fledged rescue and escape, don't you think?
I remember this coming out and me as a kid shiting myself when July 1998 started like this game was some kind of prophesy 😅 its safe to say everyone screamed when the dogs burst through the window for the first time
I got startled when the dogs came out. But also when the green creature came about. Not to mention even the zombies eating me gave me quite a scare here and there. Some zombies placed in the mansion gave me such a spook, but I didn't realize many of the resident evil games timed you based on how long it took you to complete the game from beginning to end if you ask me.
Something the original game had that none have even matched since is just the sheer number of endings and different ways the story can unfold. There are so many little cut scenes in the game that depend on what you do and when. I find it amazing just how many scenes there are in the original game that all these years later (I played it back in 1996) and after beating the game at least double digits of times, I have still NEVER seen or even knew about. I seen on the balcony with Forest with Barry for example. Until today, I never even knew it existed. Even the room with the movable fish tank and Barry reading the document. I knew about it in the remake as it always happens but in the OG version I have never seen it. On that subject, has anyone figured out how Barry was in that room in the remake, despite it being almost directly behind an armour key locked door?
The reason why OG RE1 have multiple endings (which carried over to the remake) because Capcom wanted this game to be a one-off with no follow up sequels. Once the game made butt load of money, they changed their mind and turned it into a franchise.
This brings back so much memories , i never had alot of friends but with some true friends i finished this game, feels real good and helps me to cope with all the stress lately
The room with the Researcher's Will is absolutely pivotal. I believe this cutscene operates on a timer. The player has a narrow window of arriving there before Barry, followed by a narrow window of arriving there to find Barry. You can tell if you arrived before Barry because the letter is intact, and reveals a key piece of information...that Wesker (the man that always wears the dark sunglasses) is somehow involved
17:38 in hindsight the secret door should have opened when rebecca learned how to play the piano by herself, and chris should have returned to it either opened and her waiting for him or exploring it by herself and getting kidnapped or something lol
I can't believe I thought game had good voice acting and dialogues when I was playing it in 1997, but hey, there were different standards there xD Atmosphere and music still do the job to this day and IMO is the best in series, no wonder they reused it in remake. Back in 1997 it was creapiest experience you could get as gamer until Silent Hill. Legendary game.
god i love the quotes in this dub it is silly and really charming not really good acting but sounds really likeable the actors are trying it does believe it or not make me like the characters more
Has anyone ever encountered a scene where Barry says to Jill "I told you to start from the other side!"? It's in the audio files but I've never actually seen him say it.
Hello, friend, I wanted to ask you how to remove the scene at minute 12:03 that shows Barry up? Do you have to enter from the bottom right and open all the doors and exit from the top?
i'm about to play this since i'm adult now and i have no more fears playing this long before i watched this game while my cousin plays before. can i hit all the cut scenes in just one run or not? Wish me luck guys
When you go to the dormitory and return to meet the first hunter. After you leave that room you'll hear Rebecca scream, then you'll have 3 minutes to save her. But really there's 6 ways based on the decisions you make in the game. That's just the only way i've got it done
@@the_revelation8839 I figured it out 1 week ago. First, when you meet rebecca at Medical Room (Save Room), say NO when she ask if she can go with you. Then after you comeback from Guardhouse you will get this event. But, if you come to her location too fast, then rebecca is safe, still hiding in Medical Room. You need to roaming around around 5-10 minutes, I'm not sure either, then you've triggered this scene when you get near to outside Medical Room (Below the stairs), and you can choose whether you save her (by killing hunter) or run away. And if you roaming around too long, you get the same scene, just you didn't get the chance to save her. Well, I still can't believe this game from 1996 still have something to explore to this day.
A lot of games would use sound effects from stock audio libraries, which likely explains the similarities. It's kind of like how you can hear the Doom door opening sounds in a bunch of 90's scifi shows haha
I absolutely love it when Wesker feels hurt at Chris laughing. "Chris? Stop it..." Hilarious.

Close second is right after when they take a minute to stand around sadly after Brad takes off. WTF.

6:05 “And don’t leave this hall for the time being”
*Immediately tries to leave*
And I love how when Barry asks if she found anything, she's like no... but girl you didn't even look!!!!
The fact that Barry has only been in one other resident evil game is a literal crime.
Technically he’s been in three. Resident Evil 3 in one of the endings and Revelations 2
