This scene alone should have tied up the Emmy for directing in a drama series. It's criminal how badly The Leftovers got snubbed in general. International Assassin was the best single episode of any TV show, ever.
Cuse330Ci recently ive been watching many films and somehow my mind keeps drifting back to ponder my deep love for this series and one of the things i realised is the cinematography in literally every single episode is outstanding and im just reminded of how brilliant EVERYTHING about the leftovers is
ppl are not that intelligent there to understand the gem the show is and what they missed, to all ppl who snubbed this masterpiece, but ppl who understood this show must be given big applaud, there r few around but we know what we witnessed and can die proud of this unique experience one day pfff
The Leftovers is absolutely genius writing. The way they build up the moments of disconnection between Kevin and Nora throughout the episode and they finish it off with this devastating fight between the two while the book is burning and all goes to shit. And then, when you think that's it, Kevin Sr. shows up out of nowhere (but in a way that it makes sense) and it's like a big emotional punch to the face. They nailed it every single time with these pay offs
I come back here every year or so when this ending scene pops into my head. Truly one of my favorite moments in any television series ever. This show is criminally underrated and deserved more accolades than it got when it was airing.
I dont know why but that scene still gives me chills every time i see it, its because of the music, or becuase of how sad and desperate Nora looks.......one of the most awesome scenes in the show
The only other scene that compares is when Kevin and Patti were talking in the well and you hear her back story. She was so hated but they actually got you to feel sorry for her. Great acting all around.
Just one of the best endings of one of the best episodes of one of the best series ever... Actors are amazing. Photography is insane. And these last lines... "Jesus"... "Son, that's Grace..." To my knowledge, only Twin Peaks can beat that - in a very different style, I'll give you that.
I come back every now and then to watch this video because it is to me the best ending of an episode I have seen. Funny you mention Twin Peaks because I am busy watching Twin Peaks again for the nth time. I waited to watch it with my daughter when she was an age that she could fully appreciate it. 30 years later and it is still as fresh as it was in 1990. 2 of the best TV series

Justin Theroux told this in an interview : "I’ve always said Lindelof and Lynch - they’re not on the same planet, but they’re definitely in the same orbit. I think Damon himself would say there would be no Leftovers if there wasn’t a Twin Peaks originally. It’s that kind of storytelling. It’s niche storytelling, but it’s storytelling a lot of people can embrace, being slightly avant-garde."
It’s magic! The surrealism Kevin felt brings tears to my eyes.. seeing his dad again in this state feeling weak and just follow him like he found a safe haven. All the prophecies the purpose and meaning that he’s trying to find. This show is an experience. Nothing like it !
One of the best scenes I have ever seen, just pure art. I have goosebumps every time I see it. Just amazing directing and acting. I have always loved Take on Me, but having it combined with this amazing moment in this show makes me love that song even more.
Lost had too much of an impact on me to put The Leftovers above it. Lost is my favorite tv show ever, the best however is Breaking Bad and it's not even close.
