Story 3: I’m on the brother’s side. There will be more family for the boyfriend to meet at the wedding, possibly including extended family they don’t see often. The owner finds out that he is being sued and quickly realized that this was because of the Entitled Karen. So the owner at this has had enough. He gets his own lawyer to represent him in this issue. The court date comes around and the owner, the student, the Entitled Karen and her child are present along with thier respective lawyers. The judge asks the Entitled Karen to say her story first and like every Entitled person who wants to get thier way the Entitled lies her heart out and tells some kind of sob story. The judge then asks the owner and the student to speak. The owner and the student tell the truth of what actually happened. The judge doesn't know who to believe but the owner and student's lawyer provides proof of the initial incident. And this proof is security camera footage. This footage shows the kid running around the shop, the owner confronting the Entitled Karen, the kid breaking the instrument and the Karen threatening the owner and the student. When Karen sees that they have this evidence she goes pink the face. White because she is scared of her punishment and red because she is angry she is not going to get her way. When the judge finishes looking at the evidence he tells the Karen the she will now have to pay for a replica of the instrument and emotional damages for her harassment towards the owner and the student. She initially refuses but the judge gave her an ultimatium she either pays those fines or she gets charged with destruction of property and harassment which are charges that would land her in jail and have her lose her child. The Entitled Karen angrily agrees to pay the fines. She pays the owner and the student the money and that's how the owner bought 2 more of those instruments. This is just my theory.

Look, I'm just gonna say it for story 2, the OP was kind of a jerk for yelling about it, (at least yelling is what I picked up on, idk, could've been softer on the noise). The OP's brother was a jerk for not even mentioning anything before that engagement announcement. And the bully was a jerk for not apologizing for anything, and pretending she doesn't remember anything.
Honestly I kind of disagree with the second story and would say the OP did act like a jerk when she called Anna out at the table and publicly shamed her when she was being introduced to the family, but at the same time I understand why she was a jerk as I was bullied throughout elementary school and know how much it hurts to have never had the opportunity to truly confront childhood bullies. Yet even though that is true I can easily believe that Anna didn't remember bullying her as for one she is probably one of many people this girl bullied where there's no reason she should have remembered the OP as the world doesn't revolve around any one person as well as there's a good chance she didn't even really realize that what she did was bullying and just never had the chance to really look back on the situation and acknowledge it as that rather than thinking of it as kids being kids. There is a good possibility she had grown to be a better person who would be able to recognize it as such, but the person in the story didn't give her a chance to even show that she could, and just avoided confrontation until it was forced. She could have even been the bigger person and just given a simple "no opinon" answer if she didn't want to try to approach Anna in private and say "Hey, we used to go to high school and I know you have told my brother you don't remember me when he asked you if you remembered me, but you made my life really difficult back then so I was just hoping we could discuss it as I would like to acknowledge what would happen so my pain can be acknowledged as it would help me resolve some of the anger I have so I don't continue to hold resentment over you for the times you hurt me. I want the pain I experienced to be acknowledged so I don't have to carry this burden alone anymore and hopefully moving forward we can make better memories as adults." I'm not saying that Anna would for sure be like "Oh! I didn't realize that... I was a much more childish person back then and have done a lot to be a better person. I am sorry that I hurt you and I hope that I can make things right so that we can be friends moving forward." It's just the fact that she didn't even attempt to create that situation and instead just took the first opportunity to call her out where it was in the most public and embarrassing way as possible. If she really didn't remember what she did it could have been that whole situation would have been very traumatic as most adults would hate to be put on the spot like that for something they couldn't even remember as it would create a lot of anxiety during a moment that is already stressful trying to win the families approval. If anything it was her brother that was the jerk for not giving the OP any notice that he was dating her old bully, making no effort to try to play the mediator in trying to foster peace between them, and instead tried to hide it until he couldn't hide it anymore where at that point he just dropped it on the OP lap in the worst way possible. Like imagine they never had this encounter and instead he just invited the OP to the wedding down the road essentially saying, "Hey! Want to come see me marry your old childhood bully? It would really mean a lot to me!" The brother really messed up in this situation and could have done a lot more to prevent all of this from happening. On top of that he shouldn't have turned around and attacked his sister for blowing up on Anna because he knows what she put the OP through. So to be blunt everyone kind of sucks here, but the one who is really the jerk in all of this is the brother for being completely inconsiderate and selfish where now the OP and Anna are both victims of his selfish desire to please both of them without having to deal with any sort of complex situation relating to addressing the conflict in their past and attempting to foster peace between them so that his desire to be with Anna wouldn't also hurt the OP.
Honestly, if the bullying was as bad as OP implied, then Anna _needed_ to be called out on it, in private if possible, but that didn't seem to _be_ possible in this case. OP was trying to avoid doing so in a public setting but was basically forced to do so by the aunt pressing the OP for an answer. And if it was really that bad, I don't see Anna forgetting what they did as something that is forgivable--if she really didn't remember bullying OP, I'm thinking it might have been more of a "but for me, it was Tuesday" situation where she didn't specifically remember bullying OP because she was doing so for so many others. At the very least, her inability to remember her actions suggests a massive lack of self-awareness--that they failed to realize how their actions affect others. You say she may have become a better person but if that's the case, she needs to show _remorse_ for her prior actions. Even if she doesn't recall that she hurt OP specifically, she should at least be aware that she's hurt people other than herself, and if she's truly remorseful, she needs to apologize to those she's hurt before. You're right that the brother dropped the ball, but Anna doesn't seem to be taking enough steps either. As for the OP, I feel like they were rather backed into a corner by the situation in general--didn't have time to prepare for Anna's presence at the gathering, didn't have an opportunity to confront Anna in private (instead of in public), and didn't have an opportunity to back out of answering the aunt's question. Also, I am never going to advocate in favor of lying, as I am myself not able to state an untruth--if I know the answer is "A", I cannot say that the answer is "B" or "not A". I would feel obligated to act as OP did in this exact situation.

Disagree here. Anna was using the "i dont remember" as a cheap cop out. She clearly remembered what she did and didn't care at all. She was upset because she was called out. If Anna really was remorseful, she could've went to the OP and apologized on her own, but she didnt, she just chose to ignore it all. Also, why would she immediately just run off crying? If she really didn't remember, wouldn't she have tried, even slightly, to defend herself here? Yes, people can and do change, but Anna hasn't here, and someone like that doesn't deserve a chance.

Story 4. Since he is in the military he won't be staying in FL probably longer than 3 years. Then he will move again. I would not move there. Do long distant dating and see what happens. Since he is single he probably will have to live on base and that leaves you with getting your own place to live. It would not be productive for you at all as then he leaves again and you will be there alone. Walking away from your Arbnbs, your job, you family for a temporary move is not the best of ideas at this time. Do your thing till you really know where this relationship is going since marriage doesnt seem to be a strong possibility at this time. Hold on to your own independence and businesses until you know definitely what is going to happen in a couple years. He will probably get orders again and you will be in FL all alone. I have never been to a wedding that said, invitation, plus one (If I know them) you likely do not always know the SO orspouse of everyone you know, so ther aer usually some people you don't know or don't know well at a wedding, unless you don't allow anyone a +1. I think requiring dinner with the BF first is unrasonable, and if a family member said I ould not bring my BF as a +1, my first thought would be they didnt want me ther "looking gay" at their wedding. not that it was honeslty about not knowing them. but I might be being unfair after previous family drama. But I have doubt about OP's version of the story.

If I was in the situation, I would say you can if she tries to sue them. She can’t sue them because I already said some about it to the police and she can’t sue them for what they did because they did nothing wrong because I sue her for what she broke and did not pay so I can sue her and she can’t do nothing to it because she was supposed to pay broke in Chinese instrument and the original OP shut up and the entitled kid should’ve went to a school where he can learn not to touch stuff and be careful with stuff if he ever does touch anything fragile so that’s what I would do if I was in this situation

The second story. Everyone is the jerk. the OP for not confronting her brother's girlfriend in private and instead choosing to keep all of her anger bottled up and letting it spill out at the worst moment. The brother who knew who his girlfriend was and didn't give his sister a heads up on who he was getting married to, I mean I know love is blind but use a little common sense. As for Anna whether she recognizes the OP or not, she should have been the bigger person. She should have dragged the OP somewhere private and just apologized that she made the OP's life miserable at one point in life, even if she doesn't remember .

Look, I'm just gonna say it for story 2, the OP was kind of a jerk for yelling about it, (at least yelling is what I picked up on, idk, could've been softer on the noise). The OP's brother was a jerk for not even mentioning anything before that engagement announcement. And the bully was a jerk for not apologizing for anything, and pretending she doesn't remember anything.

Honestly I kind of disagree with the second story and would say the OP did act like a jerk when she called Anna out at the table and publicly shamed her when she was being introduced to the family, but at the same time I understand why she was a jerk as I was bullied throughout elementary school and know how much it hurts to have never had the opportunity to truly confront childhood bullies. Yet even though that is true I can easily believe that Anna didn't remember bullying her as for one she is probably one of many people this girl bullied where there's no reason she should have remembered the OP as the world doesn't revolve around any one person as well as there's a good chance she didn't even really realize that what she did was bullying and just never had the chance to really look back on the situation and acknowledge it as that rather than thinking of it as kids being kids.
There is a good possibility she had grown to be a better person who would be able to recognize it as such, but the person in the story didn't give her a chance to even show that she could, and just avoided confrontation until it was forced. She could have even been the bigger person and just given a simple "no opinon" answer if she didn't want to try to approach Anna in private and say "Hey, we used to go to high school and I know you have told my brother you don't remember me when he asked you if you remembered me, but you made my life really difficult back then so I was just hoping we could discuss it as I would like to acknowledge what would happen so my pain can be acknowledged as it would help me resolve some of the anger I have so I don't continue to hold resentment over you for the times you hurt me. I want the pain I experienced to be acknowledged so I don't have to carry this burden alone anymore and hopefully moving forward we can make better memories as adults." I'm not saying that Anna would for sure be like "Oh! I didn't realize that... I was a much more childish person back then and have done a lot to be a better person. I am sorry that I hurt you and I hope that I can make things right so that we can be friends moving forward." It's just the fact that she didn't even attempt to create that situation and instead just took the first opportunity to call her out where it was in the most public and embarrassing way as possible.
If she really didn't remember what she did it could have been that whole situation would have been very traumatic as most adults would hate to be put on the spot like that for something they couldn't even remember as it would create a lot of anxiety during a moment that is already stressful trying to win the families approval. If anything it was her brother that was the jerk for not giving the OP any notice that he was dating her old bully, making no effort to try to play the mediator in trying to foster peace between them, and instead tried to hide it until he couldn't hide it anymore where at that point he just dropped it on the OP lap in the worst way possible. Like imagine they never had this encounter and instead he just invited the OP to the wedding down the road essentially saying, "Hey! Want to come see me marry your old childhood bully? It would really mean a lot to me!" The brother really messed up in this situation and could have done a lot more to prevent all of this from happening. On top of that he shouldn't have turned around and attacked his sister for blowing up on Anna because he knows what she put the OP through. So to be blunt everyone kind of sucks here, but the one who is really the jerk in all of this is the brother for being completely inconsiderate and selfish where now the OP and Anna are both victims of his selfish desire to please both of them without having to deal with any sort of complex situation relating to addressing the conflict in their past and attempting to foster peace between them so that his desire to be with Anna wouldn't also hurt the OP.
Honestly, if the bullying was as bad as OP implied, then Anna _needed_ to be called out on it, in private if possible, but that didn't seem to _be_ possible in this case. OP was trying to avoid doing so in a public setting but was basically forced to do so by the aunt pressing the OP for an answer. And if it was really that bad, I don't see Anna forgetting what they did as something that is forgivable--if she really didn't remember bullying OP, I'm thinking it might have been more of a "but for me, it was Tuesday" situation where she didn't specifically remember bullying OP because she was doing so for so many others. At the very least, her inability to remember her actions suggests a massive lack of self-awareness--that they failed to realize how their actions affect others. You say she may have become a better person but if that's the case, she needs to show _remorse_ for her prior actions. Even if she doesn't recall that she hurt OP specifically, she should at least be aware that she's hurt people other than herself, and if she's truly remorseful, she needs to apologize to those she's hurt before.
You're right that the brother dropped the ball, but Anna doesn't seem to be taking enough steps either. As for the OP, I feel like they were rather backed into a corner by the situation in general--didn't have time to prepare for Anna's presence at the gathering, didn't have an opportunity to confront Anna in private (instead of in public), and didn't have an opportunity to back out of answering the aunt's question. Also, I am never going to advocate in favor of lying, as I am myself not able to state an untruth--if I know the answer is "A", I cannot say that the answer is "B" or "not A". I would feel obligated to act as OP did in this exact situation.

Disagree here. Anna was using the "i dont remember" as a cheap cop out. She clearly remembered what she did and didn't care at all. She was upset because she was called out. If Anna really was remorseful, she could've went to the OP and apologized on her own, but she didnt, she just chose to ignore it all. Also, why would she immediately just run off crying? If she really didn't remember, wouldn't she have tried, even slightly, to defend herself here? Yes, people can and do change, but Anna hasn't here, and someone like that doesn't deserve a chance.

@@Cyrus_Nagisa how differently could she have done it? The situation was dropped on her last minute. The brother did not set aside time for OP and the former bully to hash things out. OP did the right thing in trying to avoid the former bully.
However, the aunt asked OP a question. OP tried redirection for a bit…and it did not work. So OP’s options were either to lie, be honest, or keep redirecting.
