Great review as always. Honestly I’ve seen some digibashes of this mold as a Jet Elita 1 and now I can’t help but have a soft spot for it even if I’m not a prime fan. Good to see that Legacy continues to be fantastic.
I saw the original concept art for these figures where the jet cockpit became the chest, the body was more blocky, and the alt mode was supposedly going to be a more traditional fighter jet; but the designers decided against it. I think I would have preferred that over what we got, though it wouldn't have worked as a Machine Wars Starscream at that point. I'm glad people are enjoying these figures though.
These two have always been on my radar (like a plane's radar) as something that would be neat to get, even if I can go to the local Smyth's toys and get Skyquake for £35 while he's still there. But something about 'em I'm not quite sure about plunging into getting them right away. Now if they made a new retool to look like G1 Skyquake/Scrash more so (and maybe make a Thunderclash figure to compliment him), then I'd most certainly jive with that toy more so!
I really do appreciate twin characters being one myself so it's always nice to see them pop up now and again. Now is most of they time they are just slight repaints of each other, yeah but if I don't want to buy it twice I know someone who will be willing to buy the other one.
I have a feeling that this mold is probably going to be repainted into his proper G2 color scheme in a 2-pack with a Needlenose repainted as one of the Euro-G1 Predators since the combining gimmic is a reference to the original toys
As far as Prime as series is concerned, I find it a bit overated, but some characters desighn wise, were quite nice. Whitch include Skyquake and Dredwing. And as for the Needlenose add-on, I heard that at some point, Hasbro plans to do G2 Dredwing and Smokescrean. So yea, we shall see how often this mold will see use.

Dreadwing's sale price tempted me, but i'm holding out to see if the designers really have a G1 repaint in the cards. Maybe the designers snuck a big goofy scope into the molds that's just been gated away this whole time. Also, did you see the fan mode for the alternate torso? Looked kind of interesting.

I had the Machine Wars Starscream version of the original. It was a neat transformation, but I felt it lacked something. I guess Hasbro "cheapened" the release for later releases. These new versions look great. Great review of some great Transformers!
I don't hate the backpack. BUT I hate that Hasbro completely missed steps in their instructions on how to transform it correctly. Did Dreadwing's instructions get the steps added? Haven't gotten him so I have no clue.
Got Skyquake off eBay for like $48 USD last week. I love his color scheme. There was a Dreadwing at my local Walmart, just sticking around, like when ya gonna take me home tightwad? Well, went to Walmart yesterday to pick up a script, and decided to check on the ol' boy, and lo, and behold he was on rollback for $27, so I said don't mind if I do. I agree, there's literally no difference in transportation that I noticed. I thought I liked Skyquake's color scheme more, but now I'm not so sure (love that blood red accent, and royal guard decipticon symbol on Dreadwing's wing) Either way, glad I have them both, and while almost identical... there's just something about each of them that makes them feel distinctly different somehow.
Is there a variant of Skyquake in G1 colours? There should be, you know Hasbro love to make money for old rope. Good toy though, good review - Keep Bitsocketin'
There is a design change that was made on the figure that made it impossible to collapse the backpack correctly, and that's why it doesn't work and it's ugly. Look on youtube on how to fix that, there is like 3 different solutions of different difficulty, but it changes radically the backpack and improves also other aspects of the figure, making it more solid
These do look much better than the original but I still think the OG has the sexiest bot mode with its slimmer build and only an APC’s version will make me replace my headless dreadwing
Prime is like a whatever show and only really gets good at its last season. This toy is really-really good though! (I couldn’t connect these thoughts to each other!)

How can you not love the reuniting of the original Optimus Prime and Megatron voice actors in TF Prime? It was GLORIOUS.
