No, it doesn't work. There are batches of skyquakes and dreadwings that have a correctly molded piece, like the one that you cut out. There are reviewers and friends that did not have this problem with dreadwing.
If you do the "angle trick" with a faulty mold there is no way to push de landing gear in, it is blocked by a piece of plastic, the one that you cut.

Thanks! TH-cam for some reason suggested this video, and I’m glad. Now that I’ve dremmeled a little more room out of that angled peg the wheel fits in for robot mode and the head still fits for aircraft mode. Thanks again!

Great video, got my figure a week ago and couldn't help but notice it's backpack was wrong no matter how I transformed it.

Man thanks so much !!! I did this fix but I just popped it off the mushroom peg and worked around the nose/landing gear. An exacto knife and a few cuts and he is back on the battlefield. skyquake fits so much more compact and he isn’t leaning back anymore. Plus my OCD was completely quenched when those notches fit right in the grooves like butter.
Your way would have been much easier with unscrewing the screws and split it in half but I chickened out thinking about splitting the glued seam. Liked and subscribed.Thanks friend.
After I did it, it occurred to me you could mod it without disassembly like you did. I guess the grass is always greener.
Just did this fix. Worked perfectly. I DID watch the video about not needing to do the mod (those Discord notifications were driving me nuts, and I thought it was me, until I realized I didn't even have Discord open!), but I just could not get it to work. I just went ahead and shaved some plastic, and now it works properly. I have the Dreadwind version of the mold, if that makes any difference.
I'm surprised they didn't fix it on the repaint

Kinda looks like it was tooled for a different head and the mushroom peg was assembled backwards to accommodate this one. Wonder if the inevitable remold will solve the problem.
Yeah, they might fix it, but I think this is the fix, removing some of the slot. I wonder if they'll remold dreadwing to face the other way to use the cockpit as a chest; this figure can pretty much do it.

@@seoultron4581 I don't have the figure yet. Is there a way to chisel that bit without dissembling him? The glued piece has me a bit hesitant to take him apart.
@@VestigialHeart13 I think you can get to it when he's in robot mode actually, you can see the gray plastic that needs to be trimmed right behind his head. You would need a hobby knife for sure

@@W1zT3ch They fixed Galvatron and Grapple more recently so it isn't impossible. Depends on whether or not enough people notice and complain. Seoultron is the only person I've seen mention it so far. Needs to be a news article on all the TF sites and stuff to get the issue trending.
I just used an ice pick with some heat and lightly and carefully touch the groove at a slight angle. Then used an exacto knife to clean it up a little. Sure wish the turning the hinge around wouldn't have affected jet mode. It was perfect since it kept the arms more stable and close his torso up tighter.
Just got mine today. I didn’t have any issues. Just had to fiddle with the nose cone a bit to get the backpack to collapse completely.
Me and a lot of other people couldn't seem to figure it out. I wonder if there's different versions or I just didn't mess with it enough
Can't you yust remove the weel ? I mean the plane mode stais up perfectly fine it doesn't need landing gear
That would be the easiest fix probably or just cutting out a little of the wheel
You do not have to hack your bot at all, just angle it correctly and everything else will tab in place, I do not recommend hacking something.

It took some trial and error before I figured out how to drop the back down correctly to snap in place.

Wait I just made mine work right without any adjustments to the figure just adjustments to the process. When you turn it sideways before you swing the wings up. Do the nose cone then. It takes a bit of pressure but if the part he shows in the grey part that goes inside the hollow area of the cockpit section is in the right place it will let the landing gear go where it's supposed to

I gotten dreadwing yesterday and I was too wondering what was wrong. So if I just cut a bit of plastic off where the wheel is located I should be able to get it all in line correctly?

it technically works without any modding, but I couldn't figure it out and they fixed it with his brother

Yeah, it's annoying, but at least this one looks like you can transform it properly without modding, it just takes some fiddling with it. We're lucky as transformer collectors that our figures don't usually break, unlike the power ranger figures Hasbro has put out lately
