    Myself and another member of the Falmouth Maine Lion's built 2 loose wood racks that Home Depot donated the material for. Each rack has 6 columns that each hold
    6 Cu.Ft. of split wood. We sell self serve @ $20 per column. I use one column for the split splinters from splitting as kindling by donation. Since the first week of April, we have sold 35 columns between the 2 stands. The joy is that there is very little labor and have found a niche in the firepit wood.

    Nice video Brad. You did a great job of explaining the entire process. The nail apron is a great idea, and the connection with your Dad makes it even better.

    Great video of how and why you do what you do. My suggestion is when you stack out of the trailer, have your smaller trailer there and throw bundle size into it. Stack it separately. No respliting. I think the handles are a huge waste of time. Remember time is money. Have a great day.

    I use to use a similar process but now I split just for bundles. I take my make shift bag station to the stack and bag from there. As I split the non bundle stuff goes to other stacks so I don’t have to handle it too much! But everyone should try lots of different ways till you find what works best! Have a nice day!

    Brad, my 3 kids and I have modeled a bundle only business off of some of your previous videos put together. Great to see the entire process in action. We have been selling for almost one month now and have exceeded the amount of sales I anticipated by almost 50%. I am excited to see where this side hustle goes.

    Excellent video on the entire process, Brad! My process is very similar but at this point I do not have a need for branding. I have the same bundler and at some point may consider a bagging system like Chris at Wolfe Ridge has produced. I can see the advantages and would simply and the cost of the bag into the pricing. How great is it to have all these options!!

    Thinking of a 2nd stand? I predict a super split in MD. I think you should just call it the resplit splitter. They don't deserve the advertising

    Those are some nice bundles .. I prefer using bags because we can bag them a bit earlier before they are completely dry and you don't have to have perfect pieces..we also deliver of 288 bags at a time. as for the price of the bags over plastic is that we can make 35 bundles per hour.. gross $280 per hour worth of product...
    Main reason I use bundles is that they never mold.. ever... as for branding you can get whatever you like printed on the labels.. if your paying 90 cents a bag you need to find a better place cause I pay 77 cents per bag delivered to my business Canadian which is 57 cents US.. ( no lable yet.. but soon I think)

      Yeah that's the main reason I have to stick with bags as well. It's WAY faster and more efficient. I've talked to dozens of my customers and they prefer the bags because of how easy they are to carry. I'm all about a good presentation and quality, and that's where the wood comes in. It doesn't matter if I'm selling wood in a bag or wrapped as long as it burns to perfection and I have a reputation for high quality seasoned wood, that's all that matters. Also, a lot of my customers return the bags to me and I re-use them multiple times which is awesome. Selling 3000-3500 bags a summer I could never wrap them all, it would take way too long

    With your bundle machine i have a couple questions.
    1. Can you make the bundles taller, if so how much?
    2. Can you bundle 18" long as apposed to 16"?
    My bundles are sold by weight so they are the same width, roughly 1.5x as tall and 16" long, I advertise as 30lb+
    If i made the bundles 18" x12" x12" then i would just change to 1.5 cu

    I am just getting into firewood stand I am in a perfect location for campground everyweekend 6 months out of the year we have hundreds of campers drive by, then ride atv sxs by later that day. We are the last house before a major campground. My question is any advise on stopping theft. My house sits off the road obviously I can't sit there day and night, it wouldn't be hard to swing by late at night on an atv and steal a bundle or two. In and out before I could get to my door much less down to the stand.

    • @FirewoodattheFurnace
      @FirewoodattheFurnace  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I keep my stand down the driveway. People need to come off the road to get to it. I'm sure I might lose a few sales because of it but I think people are less likely to steal if they cant grab and go so easily.

  • @waynejohnson9855
    @waynejohnson9855 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The bundles look bigger than most I see in stands that are .75 cubic feet. Do they require you to be certified meaning the wood can go to any state parks? Where I live you can only bring wood into state land that’s certified which basically someone checks on your operation which is kind of a joke, giving someone power to feel good about checking up on you. Keep up the good work.

    • @FirewoodattheFurnace
      @FirewoodattheFurnace  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The wood can’t cross state lines unless it’s kiln dried. The state does require us to have a license and register as a firewood seller. They could show up anytime

    I'm usually amused at how strongly people feel about the bundle vs. bag topic. I don't think anyone can argue the cost difference in the long run, obviously a higher initial investment in wrapping, but will pay itself off as opposed to always having to buy bags. That being said my question is are bags preferred by buyers? Now in your case they are coming to you specifically to buy bundles so im sure it wouldn't make a difference, but if you were selling at a store or gas station would the bags make a difference? I don't know, but i think it's certainly a possibility. Where i do think bags really shine, again doesn't apply to your bundles or mine for that matter, but ive seen many really ugly bundles being sold and thats where bags can hide that ugliness. Im sure youve seen those bundles too where the wood is all different lengths, poorly tied with twine, wood isnt seasoned, and on and on. I guess they must still sell, but must be because there's no competition.

    I could understand buying that bundler if you absolutely need one but don't have access to power, but there is no other way I can see that thing being worth $800 without any kind of motor.
