I have a friend from Yakutsk. Even in such cruel climate, he went on to win many gold medals in various Physics Olympiads across Russia. This year, he graduates from the top Russian university - Phystech. Hats off to him that he could make it to Phystech growing up in this kind of environment.
There's absolutely no surprise about that, even though Phystech is veery difficult to enter. We have lots of talented people, and school curriculum is the same in all regions, in all villages. If the family is poor, but the person wants to go to the uni, teachers will give supplementary classes free of charge.
In Russia it is not tough to get into university especially most tuition is free if you pass exams and even if not, you still can afford school across whole Russia (except very high level universities in capital and other biggest cities).
@@kikikiko2944 Yes, as to tuition pay, many people in North America or Europe would be amazed at how low it is. But the trick is that nearly all programs are in Russian:))) That's why only the most stoic people make up their mind to study here:)
We all realise that when watching the documentary, like I always impressed and literally my jaw drop every time it show the breathtaking scenery... I decided to start my painting right away🎨😍
Sorry I was distracted by the poverty ridden kids that are walking through the scenery. Lol but you're right, all these people live in beautiful places. It's sad how poor they are, they dont really get to enjoy it.
Imagine growing up here with your parents, and then one day leaving this place and seeing the world. I'd be constantly thinking of my parents back in Yakutia, and that extreme life I lived as I grew up. It would fill me with emotion to think of them continuing life there without me, working hard day after day.
I swear, once you start watching these, you can't stop. I'm on my 3rd one, and they'be been both enjoyable and kind of heart breaking to watch. God bless these kids and their families.

@@pafista I think the doggo was a Husky, Huskies grow extra thick coats of fur in the winter and have several different types of layers that protect them from the cold, when they run their paws heat up, I had a Siberian Husky once and her paws would be hot when she came back from running around town for several hours, she'd also chase the deer from the woods through town and the sheriff would call. I miss Aneeka so much ;(
They don't seem as poor as the other kids in the documentary. It makes me think that this is how they live, and they mostly enjoy it, despite being different.
A few yrs back while living around my grandchildren, I was visiting their home and was sick and tired of the same cartoons over and over and over again, that I scooped up the channel changer and came across this vid.

My survival Instincts as Woman, Survival Instincts is the story of Sophia Vega, a feisty Filipina who refused to give up on life despite the hardships and tragedies she faced. I watched this video as part of my school project on education and minorities. In my opinion, it is especially important to cover such videos in the school program in order to broaden the horizons of students and highlight those problems that are really urgent. Before I watched this video I didn’t really think about the problem of education but after, I am looking out for this! Also, after I checked a lot of comments I am glad to see the main character of this video here after 10 years and this is very important, because from the Sayana’s comments we can see how situation in her region is changing. I am glad that I got acquainted with this video clip, it really makes us think about how important it is to understand the need for equality of educational opportunities for all people around you and how to contribute to this!

@@kennethclifford1863 In Romania, before the communist regime ended, nobody knew what summer/winter tires are. people just used the same ones at all times. Romanians, and surely Russians even more, would not be scared of 1 inch of snow or think it's dangerous. ;)
@@obscurejourney6386 There is a big difference between being scared and being safe and just not caring. You can search the thousands of videos here to find where the Russians stand on that. The real issue in Texas is "black ice" and its inconsistent you hit a ice patch go sideways then hit a dry spot just in time to be slingshot into a tree, guardrail, other cars, etc. And on the rare occasion it does freeze it only lasts a day to three at the most, yet people outside of Texas act like we're shutdown all winter.

It's good to hear that you are watching this open mindedly despite your age, you should visit Kenya where I come from,a place where kids run upto 30 Kms that's short of 12km to make a full marathon....and from such experiences the Kenyan kids turn to be very good runners world-wide.
When your parents here in the US say they walked to school up hill both ways seems like a walk in the park compared to how those kids got to school... That's what you call determination. 👏🏿

Did you tell your kids they’re fortunate ? I force my kids to watch stuff like this when they’re acting up and being entitled so they can see that everything I do for them is a privilege. (Except providing them food/clothes,shelter).
One startling aspect in this episode, among many others, is that if the temperature falls to below -54C then you don't have to bother going in because its too cold! And yet the temp outside of Alyosha's home is a mere -50C and therefore has to trek to school! Awesome respect to everyone who lives in that town. Certainly puts our pampered attitude to cold weather in the West into perspective!
These children are great, risking their lives to learn. I hope they can succeed in their dreams and go to uni! It would be great to see more documentaries of Siberia.

Also family happily holding on to their roots staying in their ancestral house. Fishing, chopping brittle wood, melting river ice, laundry beaten to dustout ice... all these were mesmerizing. Staying in Mumbai the lowest temp in winter we experience 22 C and that's cold for us :)
Love u all kids. Blessings
Thank for you such a lovely post. 🙏
Lowest i have encountered in India is -6 degree. I thought it was too damn cold and i hardly used to go outside the house unless sun would come and temperature would come around 0 degree. Lol. Watching this i feel sorry for the kids and also proud for them. God bless them.
True
Love you smita C
But in India there are other chellenges, like heat, humidity, lack of clean water and so on...
When the Russians say its cold, its really, really cold
i wouldn't agree more lol
In uk +10C and people say its freezing 😂🙈
Those are not Russians, but Yakuts.
@@JesusIsTruthAndWayAndLife I would bet they have a russian passport, so his point is not wrong.
@@Zippism passport has nothing to do with nationality or to be more exact - race and ethnicity.
as a Canadian I really truly look forward to summer, but I can't imagine how much they look forward to summer coming.
I can’t wait for winter
36:50 -60 F below zero. School bus is roaming in the snow while playing hardbass. That's how I imagine Russia.
And now imagine city busses in Russia: hills, frozen icy roads, but some bus drivers just begin racing with each other while about 50 passengers are inside the bus. Also, some younger bus drives prefer listening to russian rap hardly loud.
Bro this is Asia and Europe not US , we measure in Celcius and Metricsystem not in US farts pr house or Feets and Hands for size ..
schools here Close at -54 Celcius wich is aparantly -65.2 farts pr house in your US measuring.
No3d what?
@@iveram we measure it by celsius not fahrenheit
@@CrysisMan96 ??? I'm a geography student from Russia, I know it better than my own hand map 🌚
Huge respect for parents and kids not only are they just surviving but also in spite of such difficult temperatures seem to enjoy every bit of it 🙏
Love how the dog went along running by the bus. He needs to just make him a seat on the bus. Be the friendly dog on the bus that greets all the students for school & drop offs ☺️ that will def keep a smile on the kids faces
Love the dog
Maybe the dog needs exercise. Plus it might be too hot inside for him. This breed is comfortable in subfreezing temperatures only.
@@Katya_Lastochka you know nothing
Dog will also provide body warmth, which is a hilariously non-trivial concept in a place like that.
Look at his big, beautiful smile first thing in the morning. I love the resilience of the human spirit 😊
Thank you so much for this wonderful documentary. It makes me realize how much I take for granted, living as I do, in America. These people are amazing examples of parents who dedicate themselves to survival and determine to give their children the chance of a better life. They are admirable. God Bless them!
I think they do better then north american native, no drugs or alcohol abuse in so harsh cold winter.
This documentary should be shown in every school and let them feel how they are blessed. THESE KIDS should be rewarded an annual trip to Asia where most of the year the weather is warm and they should be given a chance to see the greenery and enjoy warm sunny days. I wish if I could make it
Yakutia IS Asia;)
I hope they recieve more resources and better living qualities, the people here are honestly very strong and deserves appreciation
Things we take for granted other people are praying for. Count your blessings!
Shoutout to the guys who documented this master piece. It’s very inspiring. If you think you life is difficult just imagine yourself there for a while.
No kidding. I have a back injury so I would be screwed
sayana.. i hope one day you see this comment and read that i wish you and the other students the best of luck and may all your dreams come true 💕💕 stay safe healthy and top of your class🌸

women in Saudi Arabia aren't even allowed to get an eduation…. funny to read your comment.
Global Traveler how uneducated are you? They are allowed to go to school.
👏🏻👏🏻
@@globaltraveler2381 Hater lol
Global Traveler you name is ironic in relation to your comment. Clearly you didn’t travel enough. Education among Saudi women is quite high (97-99%). I am not saying everything is prefect but at least accuse people with some knowledge ( not with prejudice and hate please).
Damn, you don’t know how good you have it until you see others.
That's right and I just watched a piece about how women have babies in China, you need money to bribe the Drs. Other wise you and your baby might not have good health care. So thankful, we don't have to share a room or have babies with 8 other women. We are so fortunate, and the more I watch and understand the more thankful I am.
Here I am complaing because my sons school have blocked people parking on the school road so now we have to walk up a 10min hill, but after seeing these "most dangerous ways to school" videos I will never ever complain again
They're used to it. If they came over here to the Mojave desert they would have a heat stroke.
