TMX1138 I actually would say Stephene Sheh as Usagi/Moon and Kate Higgins as Ami/Mercury are the two best so far. I would put Shingo the bottom of the list though, but even then the voice isn't that bad and he isn't a major character!
denelson83 Things you should know. Uranus and Neptune are lesbians. NOT cousins. There is also the matter of the characters actual names, such as Mercury's is Ami, Moon's is Usagi, and basicly everyone. There is also the mater of the old dub's censorship and cutting out scenes, removal of personality, plot changes, there are really A LOT of major differances. The old DiC barely resembles the Japanese version and this version. The old DiC is THAT bad. I HIGHLY recommend this version and the Japanese version over that old one.
I have heard another person talk about this, and Canada problem, and I have heard that they are upgrading Neon Alley to the Canadian users as well. So don't worry.
I guess they are either:
1. Going to give it to Mexico before Canada.
2. Give it to Canada after the whole season is finished
3. They are punishing Canada "in the name of the moon" for the atrocity known as the DiC dub that was made there, by making them wait.
4. Hulu is to blame, for not expanding their servers. Viz is not to blame for this (Most likely one)

vizmedia Thank you for releasing this! I have been a fan of Sailor Moon since I was 12 years old when it was on Toonami back in the late 90's. Years later and my love for this show has not faded and I couldn't be happier that it has returned. Also, I had missed out on my chance to collect the series from the very beginning when it was on DVD back in the early 2000's. Now with it being released on Blu-ray I made sure to reserve my copy of the Limited Edition. =) I am looking forward to hearing the new dub that you guys have created for the series. Thank you so much again, and keep up the good work!

Is there gonna be a standard Blu-Ray/DVD combo release, or just Blu-Ray? I would want to buy this to give the series a look at, but I don't wanna have to pay so much for the limited edition.
There may be a standard edition of the combo pack in the future to replace the LE when it runs out.

I hope you guys'll get on that. I'd buy a normal Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack for $30-$40. FUNimation has the sets for Attack on Titan for that much & I don't think that's an unreasonable price for the product.
Scsigs Their price for Sailor Moon Blu-ray/DVD is a reasonable price. Comparing with Attack on Titan, it only has 13 episodes per set and it's $30-$40. Both sets of Attack on Titan would cost you almost $80, depending on where you buy it. As for Sailor Moon, also a combo, this has 23 episodes and it cost almost $60 on Right Stuf.

What is the difference between the limited bluray edition and the (remastered bluray edition)?
Honestly when a limited edition is so popular they should just do a reprint of when they run out for people who were too late or couldn't afford it at the time. I just bought the LE of Blood Lad, and the LE of Gargantia, and I just couldn't jam Sailor Moon in there. I will just have to hope they don't run out.

Sailor Moon, baby. I know most of you will be picking up the BD/DVD limited edition because of the total package that the DVD edition is missing. But I will be picking the DVD edition because I am a cheap bastard. Anyway, I was disappointing in Part 2 cover of having all the Sailor Soldier is in the cover instead of just one Sailor Soldier in each part, but it alright and I will support Viz and getting these set for them.
I'm loving this! I can't wait to own the dvd version, especially the second part of it! It gets so real in last two part episode of this season, just to see those uncut with an amazing dub is gonna be pretty powerful :'] Please viz release all sets as soon as possible I'm dieing to see sailor stars dubbed and crystal! :D

Wow, it's not everyday you hear an anime dubbing company talking about working with the ORIGINAL lyrics writer for as accurate of a translation as possible, especialy for a song from over 20 years ago o.O The amount of colaberating with the Japanese crew sounds intense!

I'm sorry if this is a dumb question but is the Season 1 Part 2 LE going to be another giant box that can house both parts? Like am I always gonna have 1 empty box if I house part 1 and 2 in the same box? Or is the entire Part 2 LE gonna fit into that extra space in the Part 1 box?
Set 2 is designed to fit inside the set 1 LE box. That's why there's that little pink filler box - to keep everything from sliding around until set 2 comes out February 10, 2015.

There's a whole team working on Sailor Moon and putting all the love energy into it! As for this set, we approved the final sample after checking it very carefully. It's being made now so it can be on shelves 11/11.
1:10 You can't put that slipcover back in the box without damaging it. I tried to slip it in, but since it's designed to wrap around the set, it's too big, so you'd have to bend it and ruin it to store it inside. Since it has different artwork on it (and Luna on the bottom), I kept it, but I have to store it somewhere separately. I did cut around the sticker on the plastic wrap to keep it, and I placed it inside the book. Also, it slightly annoys me that Part 1 doesn't come with a slipcover. It would've made everything fit inside a bit more snug. it's really loose, even with the slipcover on Part 2 when you put it in.

I have a question about the opening and ending credits will they be charged to English Credits instead of Japanese Credits? Because I always love to read the credits just to see who was involved making the anime I don't know if that's just me if it isn't great I am happy that I'm not the only one who like to read the credits. And I am also planning on doing a unboxing video of this I plan on to talk about how I got into anime in general and how I got into Sailor Moon from another anime that I didn't like.
The booklets will have a full credit list, yes! As for the OP/ED, those will be subtitled. A clean version is also included.
vizmedia I mean will the Japanese credit themselves be charged into English Letters? Like with shows from Funimation they translate the Japanese Credits and put the same names but in English or are they going to be in Japanese where's the credits are concerned I am just curious that's all.

Because between now and February, you're going to be putting the second half on Hulu and Neon Alley (probably in December), about a month or two before it comes out on BD/DVD on February 10th, 2015. I really am looking forward to hearing Amanda and Cherami as Jupiter and Venus respectively.

As for Idina Manzel. I was just pretty much just pointing out how similar Bertheir and Elsa look. Plus both have Ice powers! I love Frozen and put it in the top best Disney films at #5, (I have one of Disney's Direct to Video sequel listed above it), and also at #15 of all time for me. However the one I consider the worst Disney film, and worst film in general is......Little Mermaid. For Frozen I love it and the song Let It Go, but wish people would SHUT UP about it.

I'm really looking forward to this release and the next Ranma ½ set shortly after. It's great that VIZ is dedicated to releasing classic anime titles on Blu-ray. Here's hoping these two series are the first of many to come. I'd love to see Maison Ikkoku on Blu-ray in North America. Nothing beats cel-animated anime, especially in HD! :)
please please release this in europe i am a huge sailor moon fan it was my first ever anime and it started my love of magical girl animes i would love to own this especialy if cristina vee is in it she is one of my fave female voice actors i want to own this
Ms Cristina Vee plays Rei Hino/ Sailor Mars in this version. As for Europe, unfortunately VIZ Media only has rights for North America. You'll have to ask your local distributor if they plan on licensing the series.

No. They will remain in Japanese.
They also said they may do an English one as a special feature on one of the blu rays because they made sure the voice cast could sing.
Well they'd have to translate them faithfully first, and make the translations match in rhyme and meter.
denelson83 Yeah that is the tricky part. They have the translations so they would probably be faithful with kt. they would need to write it as music with the rhythm and time like you said.

Sailor Moon is now on Blu Ray and DVD in Australia now! Madman Entertainment has the Australian license. And it's the Viz dub.

The person presenting the video sounds like the one who I see promoting Sailor Moon at panels in the conventions I recently attended.
Anyway, you can see how much love Viz Media put into the Sailor Moon franchise. Really hoping it sells well for them.

I'm not seeing any of that love up here in Canada. Viz wants the show to be "free, legal and official online", but unfortunately that's turned out to be impossible up here. There's not big enough of a market for an official free-to-use ad-supported online streaming platform that only serves Canada; without being allowed to serve the US as well, such a platform has no financial leg to stand on. Remember that my official support of Viz's offering of the original _Sailor Moon_ will only start when I see it officially streaming in Canada, and if that doesn't happen, I will end up completely missing out on Viz's _Sailor Moon_ *forever.*

It's disappointing and somewhat annoying that Viz puts no effort in to their DVD editions at all, this goes for Sailor Moon and Ranma. No double sided cover, no nice little episode list insert in the case to brighten it up a little, no good extras as they are blu ray exclusive, cheap cardboard o-ring with stamped on foil effect rather than real foil card. Really disappointing and is as if Viz are punishing people who can't get the blu ray version for whatever reason, mine being that I am in the UK where local licencors have stated they have no interest in Sailor Moon and as I don't want to import a region A player I will have stick with the DVDs. However despite this I am very happy that Viz is rereleasing the series and has done a spectacular job on the new dub.

4.43 - The first line of the Moonlight Legend English translation starts with "Gomen Ne". That's not a translation, that's the Japanese romanji. What happened?
Keeping two key phrases in "Moonlight Legend" in Romanji was a specific request from the original Lyricist/ song author. These are "Gomen-ne" and "Shinjite-iru no".

It does look odd, but under Japanese copyright law, a song's lyricist holds the rights to any translation of its lyrics, so that person has veto power over how they're translated.
I wouldn't call it the best dub ever, The best dub ever is a tie between cowboy bebop, hellsing ultimate, Black lagoon, FMA/brotherhood and Baccano . But this new sailor moon dub by VIZ is very promising though.

Couldn't help but notice the "A" logo on the back of the Blu-ray case, signifying that it's region-locked. Kinda disappointing, but hopefully it means that there'll be a separate European release for the rest of us at some point. It looks awesome, though! ^_^
VIZMedia only has rights for North America, so you'll need to ask your favorite local anime distributor if they are interested in licensing the series. Sorry we can't be more helpful!

FinalFantasyFan92 If it's true about Anime Limited then it'll probably be Kaze then which won't be too surprising since they have the licenses in France & Germany too.

It was weird, I started watching a few episodes of sailor moon and noticed the voices were different. Than I realized there was the Vic and dic dubs. Dic was embarrassing, one of sailor moon's friends was speaking with a New York accent. I can do without those sailor says segments. Btw, I wish the whole series and movies be released all in one set and not in multiple smaller sets!!
I think it's necessary to release it in smaller sets because if all 200 episodes were released at the same time, you would pay a lot of money. Like several hundreds of dollars. Releasing it in smaller sets and waiting every three months is enough time to save money for each set.
plus they are still recording season 1, so it would take over a year atleast to record all seasons and movies, and I think it's better to have multiple releases so we can start watching it

It was never announced which characters would go on each package, sorry. For season one, we start with Usagi and in Set 2, she has her whole team of Inner Guardians added. Each season will be different but will look good together as a 5 season ensemble. Hope you like them!

I most likely WILL NOT be spending a single penny on this! The cover art is bland, and covered up with an "ooh, shiny!" material to distract the plebian masses.
Worst of all, I find the new voice cast to be simply atrocious! I consider it an incredible insult to the voice cast of the original dub who worked their hardest and gave their all to breathe life into a then largely unknown (to the western world) property. The fact that the series' creator approved this crappy cast means little to me personally.
Imagine if Viz was to go in and remaster the episodes and recast and re-record another property, like the original TRANSFORMERS or TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES. It would be wrong on so many levels!
I think your nostalgia glasses are a little dirty there. This is a Japanese anime that deserves a dub that RESPECTS the original material, not a bunch of horribly miscast voice actors like the DiC dub who DID NOT put any heart and soul into it and cared more about quantity over quality (aka putting out as many episodes as quickly as possible regardless of how the vocal takes turned out. The original dub was the real atrocity. They changed the script so much that it was barely recognizable at times and they even cut out entire episodes. This re-dub has been a long time coming and I'm glad that English-speaking fans (that don't watch sub anime) will finally get to see the story as it was meant to be told.
