Heard about the new Sonos Era 300 speakers? Here's what they are great for:
- Providing a dimension of height and spaciousness for video soundtracks and especially Dolby Atmos content.
- Providing spatial audio with content that allows for it with Apple Music and Amazon Unlimted.
If you are using the Sonos Era 300 speakers for this purpose, they are a great way to go and a nice add-on for your Sonos wireless surround sound set-up.
They really aren't optimal for music OR should we say you get better bang for the buck with other Sonos options. Wondering about the Sonos Era 300 vs Sonos Five sound quality?
- The Sonos Five sounds better than the Sonos Era 300 for music. The Sonos Five has better bass and clearer highs.
This is mainly due to their build construction. The Sonos Five has three front-facing tweeters and 3 front-facing mid-woofers. This produces sound more akin to a standard front-firing speaker.
The Sonos Era 300 has 2 midrange drivers (that are smaller than those in the Sonos Five speaker) and four tweeters. These speakers are in an array where they send sound left, straight up, right and forward. This is a design that is better for diffuse sound effects and to provide a sensation of height but it isn't as clear for music.
Wondering about the Sonos Five vs Sonos Era 300? They both have their place. Use the Era 300 as movie/video speaker and the Sonos Five as a music-only option and you'll be a happy human.

I 100 percent agree with you Sir, the 300's are best for HT surround, while the Fives pair in stereo are my clear music choice.

The three tweeters arent all pointed the same direction on the fives.
The outer tweeters are pointed left and right to create stereo from a single speaker placed horizontally.
You are correct. Hey...in 60 seconds you can't be as specific as you'd like. On the Five the tweeters are located on the front in a horizontal line and the L/R tweeters point left and right. Thanks for bringing it up.
@@airetheaterdesigns of course my man! I only know cause I just got 2 for stupid cheap. 2 play: 5s (not the first one), for less than 300 euros total.
What about Atmos music. The ERA 300 are way better overall than Five’s.
For Atmos content (music or movies), the ERA 300s provide depth and spaciousness that the Fives can't.
