Bondi!!! One day your going to have to bust out into the world!!! People are going to want to see and listen to you live. You belong out there!!! Your talent is hidden for now!!! Again as I said before!!! You have been given a great talent by God!!! Keep on playing, and enjoying your sessions, hopefully one day you can do some live appearances. The people would greatly appreciate to watch your live performances!!! God 🙏 Bless!!!
It really breaks my heart to know this man passed away. May him and his talent rest in peace. What an extraordinary waste of talent. Playing up there with the guitar gods.
I really appreciate the compliment. Honestly, I kinda messed this one up. My newest video covering Cliffs of Dover from the same live dvd/album came out much better. Give it a watch, I’m sure you’d enjoy it!
Your tone and playing are absolutely nuts. You're one of the few that can play AND sound like Eric Johnson. Not that that's a goal worth pursuing in itself (sounding exactly like a famous guitarist) but to me EJs music has always been so mind blowing. I'm always like "Can anyone else other than Eric himself actually even play these songs" but your playing proves that it can be done:D You and Peter Choi are the only ones I've found that get both the playing and the tone spot on or at least very close. Anyways awesome video man, the live Western Flyer is one badass song!
Thanks man! I’m not sure if you’ve seen my newest video covering Cliffs of Dover from this same concert, but if you haven’t you should give it a watch! It came out a lot better, in terms of playing and video editing as well.
Same here! An absolute brain-worm of melodies, throughout the entire song. If you enjoyed the video, I’d very much appreciate it if you subscribed. It’d be a great help! 🙂 Also, I think you'd enjoy my more recent cover of Cliffs of Dover even better. My performance was much cleaner and less sloppy, and the videography was much better as well.
Iv been looking for that Are you experienced cover but no one does it like eric's austin live version. Hope you can do it someday . Keep up the great content man :D
Thanks Mahmoud! I've been practicing that one actually. It won't be long 'til I'm able to play it perfectly! You should subscribe to the channel so you can be informed when I do release the "Are You Experienced" video. :)
It's great to be back! Fractured my elbow and sprained my wrist so I couldn't play for a while. There's gonna be a lot more stuff coming soon! Originals too!
Thanks! Not quite, the headrush is just a powered speaker for my Kemper which isn’t in the shot. It didn’t factor much into the audio in this video, since the Kemper went directly to my Focusrite 2i2 and that’s the audio you’re hearing. The only reason the headrush speaker is even in the shot is that I needed to use it for feedback during some parts of the song. My more recent Cliffs of Dover cover came out way better than this one, if you enjoyed this video you should check that one out as well! Here’s the link: th-cam.com/video/F-2_kazz5Ns/w-d-xo.html
This is masterful. Masterful. The jacket is just the cherry on top. Can you feed us some 'breakdown' videos? Also, what are you using? Helix? Can you share patches? Thanks!!!
Thanks, Jeff! Kemper Profiler, actually. Wish I could get these tones with a helix, it’d be so much easier to carry around and would’ve cost less too! I’ll do a little breakdown video on my tones, playing technique, and recording setup in the coming week or so.
Yep! Got it from H&M for about 20 bucks haha. If you liked this video, please check out my newest one where I do Cliffs Of Dover from the same live performance. It came out much better than this one, in terms of videography and playing/technique alike.
You are back! And with new gear apparently haha How do you like the headrush so far? Been thinking about getting one. Great cover, hope you upload more :))
The head rush is great, no complaints. It took some adjusting going from a Marshall MG100DFX to this but my tone is more consistent between home and venues now since it’s FRFR and a lot closer in function/sound to a PA speaker.
@@BondiJames I'll buy one then! currently I'm using a Boss Katana purely as a speaker like you were with your Marshall haha. Thanks for answering bro, already on the third listen :)
Oh wow I had no idea you made it, I thought you just posted it to TH-cam 😅 I’ll credit you in the description. Thanks for the compliment, I hesitated to post it because I thought it was a little off but now I’m pretty glad I did!
@@aprilcox871 learned by ear and watching the concert DVD actually, didn’t realize you had a tab up til recently and that was after I had already learned the song
I’m working on it, I’m not terribly familiar with transferring/sharing Kemper patches that include all the pedals in the effects chain. I’ve never done it before. I made my own Kemper profile for the lead sound, and I used the cabinet profile from that profile I made for every other tone in the video. The clean tone, the edge-of-breakup tone right before the huge solo, all of them. The secret is in the combination of the cabinet profile and extensive post-EQ in the Kemper. I’ll soon be posting a video describing my rig and how I got my sound, along with an e-mail address where I may be contacted for anyone who wishes to purchase the patches I made. Thank you for your interest! Soon, it will certainly be possible. I just need to figure out how to share a Kemper “performance” as a file. If that isn’t possible, I will simply share each individual patch along with the settings for each pedal in the FX chain if necessary; assuming that sharing the patch won’t include the FX chain but only the amp and cab profile.
@@BondiJames Thanks for the reply man! Yeah I would love to try out for instance the Cliffs of Dover preset you use. Sounds frickin' great. I'd be happy to buy just one of the presets or each of them separately if you don't manage to share the performance patch. I'll wait patiently for the upcoming video, you nailed each aspect of Eric Johnsons style and I'm a fan of yours from now on :)
Kemper profiler. I profiled a VST based rig for his Marshall/tube driver tone, used the cab profile I got from that on all the other tones combined with various appropriate amps. The Dumble tones come from a Vox AC30-style amp profile boosted by either a fuzz face or a tube screamer, with a tube screamer behind the fuzz face at the beginning for more gain and feedback. No clean tones in this video, but if there were, it would’ve been that same cab profile I got by profiling my VST-based rig with a fender twin amp profile.
So close, I thought this was one big fake at first. But no, it's just that close in both timing and sound. I wonder if Eric also used single coils when recording the original.
