  • We get a lot of questions about how to move an OLED TV here at Abt. In this video, we show you the safest way to move it from one spot to another and avoid damaging the screen. The model we used is the Sony XR65A80K. This simple process can be applied to most models available on the market. In some cases, the hand you use to lift the TV will need to go into a spot on the back of the set instead of on the bottom like we show in the video.

    I think when most people use the search phrase "move OLED TV" they're wanting to know how to move it from one home to another, not how to move it within a home.

    I know your advice is the best BUT I live alone, no one to help me. 65" sits on my floor with the feet in outer position. I need to move it 4-5 ft to the right. I'm aware of the cord, etc. Best part??? I'm a 4'11" 70 yr old. Haha. So I'm going to move it forward then get behind it so not to touch/damage screen. Then gently barely lift up and a small slide. It might take me 20 tries but I guarantee you I will get it done. I have the strength from above 😇 to help me. Thank God ✌️

    I have an LG CX 77inch. The screen is super thin as it extends out from the base. I'm not sure it can be handled as far out as the TV you guys are using. Any ideas? I need to move it to paint the room it is in. I may have to just do my best to reach to the thicker base part. Thanks

      I have the same tv as you but a smaller size. I love the Tv but man, you can’t move it around worth shit. I need to move mine to a different room and that’s how I ended up here. 😅

    • @Criminaljustice79
      @Criminaljustice79 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Benmeglei1 yeah it’s crazy. I figured it out. Holding the top corners like they are is quick way to bend the screen. I got a second person..held the base in one hand and used the other hand about mid way up the screen with a micro fiber cloth to just protect it from tipping. No grabbing on the screen where is thing.

    Good advice. However, I want to move my 65 inch OLED tv from the third floor to the second floor which means taking it down a flight of stairs. I’d appreciate any advice you have. I do have the original shipping container of that helps. Thanks!

    • @abtelectronics
      @abtelectronics  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @vinalboy This method can also work bringing it down a flight of stairs, you just have to be very careful on the stairs. If you put it back into the original packaging you'll just need to remove the pedestal first. That would be the safest method, but will take a bit longer since you're adding a couple extra steps.

    My only comment is don't unplug the TV by pulling on the cord. Unplug it by pulling at the end of the plug. This will ensure that you don't damage the cable.

    Are Sony A80K and A90K the same but the only difference is the screen sizes

    • @abtelectronics
      @abtelectronics  ปีที่แล้ว

      @Spiderman_2000 Not exactly. The pedestal designs are different: the 90K has a center mounted pedestal with some height adjustment to accommodate a soundbar, and the 80K has feet that can be arranged in 3 different positions. Also, the sound system in the 80K is more powerful and has more actuators. Finally, the A90K comes with the premium backlit remote with a finder feature. The A80K comes with the same standard remote that is found on the X90K. As far as picture is concerned, you shouldn't notice any difference there. Thanks for watching!

    • @abtelectronics
      @abtelectronics  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Suduaya Try a microfiber glove on the hand that touches the screen. If you don't have one available, you'll just need to use a microfiber cloth after you're done and wipe down any areas with fingerprints.

    You DO NOT hold the tv at the top. Moving an LG OLED like that will possibly crack the glass. You should stabilize it at the side maximum height where the plastic ends. This is in the freaking manual!

  • @Tadders
    @Tadders ปีที่แล้ว

    Why do you have to be so gentle with an OLED tv in particular? My phone is an OLED and that thing takes a regular beating and it's fine.

    • @abtelectronics
      @abtelectronics  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Tadders They are quite a bit thinner than most LED backlit TVs and require more caution when being moved. Because the screen is large and the case is very thin, they are more prone to flexing and potentially being damaged. The phone is different because the screen is small and the phone cases are more rigid than an OLED TV. It would be difficult to bend a phone without applying a lot of pressure purposefully.

      Personally fwiw, i wrapped in plastic put it face down in big trailer on top of bedding, with and drove 7 hrs. amazingly it was ok. It is indeed as durable as a heavy piece of glass.
