As a dude, when people ask if I like Romance movies, I say sure. When people ask what's my favourite, I say, nothing comes to mind. But it's this. It's Stardust. Watched it as a kid, and have probably watched it 30 odd times over the years. I know that it's an adventure, comedy, fantasy, romance. But this is my type of romance. :p
Robert DeNiro was originally up for the role of Captain Jack Sparrow but he turned it down not expecting Pirates of the Caribbean to go anywhere, and Johnny Depp got the role. It became a hit, and so later when Stardust came along he took the role. It didn't become as huge of a hit as Pirates of the Caribbean sadly, but I love him in this movie.
TBH Considering how much of Captain Jack was improvised or introduced by Johnny Depp, if DeNiro would've been Captain Jack I think his prediction would've been true. Both were cast perfectly as they were.

@XpVersusVista I watched Star Wars in theater when I was 4 ½ years old, in the summer of 1977. I will always love the original Star Wars films. 21:37 "Tristan, when I'm done, your own mother won't recognize you." I actually enjoyed the irony of that line because later, Una, even while she was a bird knew instantly that Tristan was her son all grown up. ❤ Also, Captain Shakespeare's first officer is played by actor, Dexter Fletcher. If you remember Cassie, he played Sergeant Martin from the Band of Brothers series.
I have been scanning the titles of movies (and series') for YEARS but nothing makes me want to watch (or re-watch) them. I am old and have seen so many movies. Lately, I have only been enjoying watching reactors react to my favorite movies. Stardust has been one of my favorites and I have been wanting to re-watch it for a while, now. Well, when I saw that Cassie was going to watch this, I INSTANTLY clicked on it to watch her reaction. Needless, to say, I was not disappointed!
@@nonid5627 Yeah Count of Monte Cristo is a better representation of how he looked when he was young. Like Cassie, I didn't recognize him as the son from Count of Monte Cristo when I first saw this film either. The blond wig and fake moustache really did make a very good looking guy somehow look bad. Which wasn't necessary. The handsome, but sleezy, guy is a well established trope.
Shortly before this, Peter O'Toole was in a movie called Venus where he played an elderly actor who only got hired to play deathbed scenes. The fact that he spends this entire movie on his deathbed has to be an in-joke about that earlier movie.
Fun movie. A very unique/heartwarming love story. Cassie incase you didn't recognize the voice of the narrator. That is actor lan McKellen aka Gandalf and Magneto
My favourite thing about this film is when they’re hiding by the side of the road and Yvaine asks “Aren’t you tempted?” and glows brighter. That is an amazingly sexy moment in film as a whole.
@@brucemaximus3797 Uhh...we have different definitions of subtle I guess. The words may not have been overt, but that tone of voice was about as subtle as a sledgehammer to head.

Stardust is my favorite movie and my mom’s too, so much so my dad got her a necklace with a meteorite in it and told her he’s her Tristan because she’s his star
I figure Tristan was thinking something like, "well darn, gotta kill him now. That'll delay me by a few seconds." Humphrey saw the complete difference plus what looked liked a very experienced blade handling and realized that Tristan would win, with a sword that was designed to kill rather than score points.
Such a great underrated film, I honestly think it may be one of my all-time favourites. The cast are just so good - De Niro playing against type is an obvious highlight, but pretty much everyone else is also really bringing their A-game to this. Action, romance, comedy, gorgeous fantastical visuals, even a little bit of classic fairytale horror, the film has everything you could want and more. And the music is just so good too - the ending song by Take That is just a beautiful work of art
All of the princes names are numbers. The numbers corresponding to their names are embroidered into their clothes. A lot of the outdoor scenes for Stormhold were filmed on the incredible Isle of Skye and North West Highlands in Scotland.
I love this film! One of the most underrated movies. It's an adventure from start to finish. Henry Cavill is in this too but very minor role haha. Cassie is gonna love it 😸✨
I had the misfortune to be taking a sip of a screwdriver when I heard, "I don't WANT her to be the girl of this movie! Where's Claire Danes???" And I choked so hard that I've spent the last 5 minutes blowing my nose to clear it of orange juice and vodka. Never change, Cassie. Never change.
I saw this in theaters with some friends out of sheer curiosity & when it was over I literally said to them "Wow! Where the hell did *that* come from!?! That was so charming!" This is one I love revisiting & I'm glad you had a good time with it as well!
The Production company MARV films is named that way because those are the full initials of the director: Matthew Allen Robert Vaughn. He's the director of X-men: First Class, Kick-Ass, and the 1st Kingsman. I saw this in theatres. I had zero awareness of this film until a friend dragged me to it. I went in with no expectations and by the time I exited the theater it became one of my favorite films.
He also produced Lock, Stock and two Smoking Barrels of which at least two stars from that film were in Stardust, one as one of the ghost brothers (Jason Flemyng) and one as one of Shakespeare's crew (Dexter Fletcher).
This movie is totally a guilty pleasure of mine. As soon as I saw it on the Patreon list, I knew that it was going to hit all the notes for Cassie. I mean, if there ever was a "Cassie movie" it would be Stardust.

Finally! I’ve been asking for her to watch this for years. Even gave her a copy she opened on a live stream. Knew she’d love this one, so glad she was finally able to watch it!
I love this movie. The story by Gaiman. The cast - not just Cox, Danes (radiant), Pfeiffer, DeNiro, etc. but Mark Strong as Septimus, Jason Flemyng as Primus, Sienna Miller as Victoria, & so many other great Brits in smaller roles. The mix of magic, adventure, comedy… Even the song in the end credits, Rule the World, was a huge hit for Take That. And nobody loves a montage like Cassie. (“Mon-tage! Mon-tage!” 23:27)
This whole movie is just a who's who of British celebrities, like I can name almost everyone here from them being in movies and tv shows from my childhood. The movie itself is just so sweet and silly it's a true joy to watch. P.S. Take that were an obsession of mine as a teen and the credit song always makes me want to listen to them again.
OMG, YES! I love this film, and knowing what your tastes are... wow! I'm going to watch this reaction right now. I have a VERY strong suspicion I know whether you're going to like this film.
This is a perfect movie. Every charachter has a purpose, every storythread is finished, every question is answered. The obviously put a lot of effort in the script.
Like a lot of people who didn't know the book, I sat down to watch this with no expectations and just got sucked in. It's got everything I love, dark humour, fantasy elements and the kind of romance that feels real. Even the initial meeting between Tristan's soon to be parents crackles and we don't even know who they are at that point. Side note, as a brit, the accents from the non british actors just sound right and never break the illusion. It's near perfect as a movie for me.
Also, when the ghosts of the princes fade, I don't know if you noticed, but they all turned to bright, white lights except for Septimius. He turned red and while all the others went up (presumably to Heaven), the red light went down!
The movie is based on a Graphic Novel (comic book) by Neil Gaiman. The original comic was later expanded into a novel and then later into this movie. Gaiman started off writing comics then later moved to writing novels. Several of his works in both fields have been adapted into movies or TV shows, most of which were well received. His novel "Neverwhere" was made into a movie but it's kind of hard to find. I think it was on TUBI at some point His children's book Coraline was made into a claymation movie. His novel "America Gods" was made into a TV series for Starz but it went off the rails in later seasons. The comics that he wrote while working for DC Comics (home of Superman and Batman) have been adapted into two recent Netflix show "Sandman" (season 2 in the works) and "The Dead Boy Detectives" ( a Sandman spin-off) One of his early novels which he co-wrote "Good Omens" is a TV series on Amazon Prime.

Also, Captain Shakespeare's first officer is played by actor, Dexter Fletcher. If you remember Cassie, he played Sergeant Martin from the Band of Brothers series.
OMG how did I not notice that's SOAP!
That's where I know the first officer from! All these years I thought it was Faramir. 😅
The flower might have been a subtle hint, especially when Sal mentioned that she had lost it 18 years ago.
Stardust is like the child of Princess Bride.
An absolute delight of a movie.
"How's the witch going to eat her.... OHHh!" got me 9:53
This movie always touches a special place in my heart. It's just a great movie. Great casting, plot, performances, score, costuming, everything.
Seeing Michelle Pfeiffer's photo brought to mind Ladyhawke. Cassie would like I think, love story with a happy ending.
+1
Ladyhawke is peak 80s fantasy. It's gloriously 80s
Ladyhawke is one of my favorite movies, 80's synth music and all. 😊
I named my old dog after her character
LOVE Ladyhawk
I have been scanning the titles of movies (and series') for YEARS but nothing makes me want to watch (or re-watch) them. I am old and have seen so many movies. Lately, I have only been enjoying watching reactors react to my favorite movies. Stardust has been one of my favorites and I have been wanting to re-watch it for a while, now. Well, when I saw that Cassie was going to watch this, I INSTANTLY clicked on it to watch her reaction. Needless, to say, I was not disappointed!
"This guy looks 40!" she says of a very young (and blonde, and somehow skinny) Henry Cavill... (4:26)
That hair and makeup did him no favors.
Poor guy was 24.
Reminded me of Carly Elwes... from Hot Shots, however.
The handsome, but sleezy, guy is a well established trope.
she's definitely going to love this one
Cassie is never not the sweetest, purest thing
A fantastic movie. I took my daughter and we didn’t know what to expect. We were both blown away. Fun watching you enjoy it too.
But in the _best_ way. Subtle, not overt.
@@brucemaximus3797 Uhh...we have different definitions of subtle I guess. The words may not have been overt, but that tone of voice was about as subtle as a sledgehammer to head.
@@sandpiperr Compared to modern day? I present "WAP" for contrast.
So glad you are watching this! I remember watching it with my dad when I was home for the weekend during college and it's been one of our favorite movies ever since!
I love the second life and appreciation reactors have given this movie, i've always adored it. great reaction!
Stardust is my favorite movie and my mom’s too, so much so my dad got her a necklace with a meteorite in it and told her he’s her Tristan because she’s his star
Tristan showing off his sword skills is one of my favorite moments.
And Primus rides alone while Septimus rides with 6 other soldiers or aides (with Bernard replacing the soothsayer).
Also the princess: Una.
I’d forgotten Charlie Cox was in this movie. I’m so used to him as Matt Murdock/Daredevil now!
He gets to say one of the "most NEEDED lines" ... when it comes to dealing with women: *_"You want to grow up."_*
Btw. ... "want" as in "need to"
I love this film! One of the most underrated movies. It's an adventure from start to finish. Henry Cavill is in this too but very minor role haha. Cassie is gonna love it 😸✨
One of my all-time favorites, everyone is so on point!
I so needed a feel-good film today too! Gorgeous reaction thanks Cassie. xxx
I've been recommending this for quite a while now. Thanks for pulling the trigger.
Superman versus Daredevil. Gotta love the comic book crossovers.
This is a criminally underrated movie. Good to have people like you introducing more viewers to check it out
I had the misfortune to be taking a sip of a screwdriver when I heard, "I don't WANT her to be the girl of this movie! Where's Claire Danes???" And I choked so hard that I've spent the last 5 minutes blowing my nose to clear it of orange juice and vodka.
Never change, Cassie. Never change.
This movie was the current generation's Princess Bride IMHO. Fencing, fighting, chases, escapes, witches....true love. Perfect movie.
It kind of fits next to A Princess Bride.
I saw this in theaters with some friends out of sheer curiosity & when it was over I literally said to them "Wow! Where the hell did *that* come from!?! That was so charming!" This is one I love revisiting & I'm glad you had a good time with it as well!
Haven't started watching this yet, but when I saw the title I was like, "Ooooo, she is going to love this one!"
This lovely, fun, inventive film is criminally underrated. There's so much packed into it that it rewards multiple viewings.
And he´s also married to Claudia Schiffer. Not that bad I´d say 🙂
He also produced Lock, Stock and two Smoking Barrels of which at least two stars from that film were in Stardust, one as one of the ghost brothers (Jason Flemyng) and one as one of Shakespeare's crew (Dexter Fletcher).
It took me a while to realize that the place I knew the "final" prince from was as Merlin in Kingsman,
Wait? He didn't direct kingsman 2 and prequel???
This movie is totally a guilty pleasure of mine. As soon as I saw it on the Patreon list, I knew that it was going to hit all the notes for Cassie. I mean, if there ever was a "Cassie movie" it would be Stardust.
Never feel guilty for loving this movie.
It's so nice to get to see Cassie watching something she can really enjoy and that doesn't make her a wreck.
The fact there’s so little reactions to this movie is actually upsetting it’s such an great movie
I am so happy that you finally watched this movie! Captain Shakespeare has to be my very favorite character!
this movie is basically perfection
I rewatched it every year at least once
it just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside ❤
This is one of my favourite movies, adapted from one of my favourite books! I wish I’d caught the premiere. 😍😍 one of the few adaptations to stay close to the source material. I have a list of movies I put on when I need a mood boost and this is one of them. I’m so glad you loved it!
The beautiful countryside is the Isle of Skye in the west highlands of Scotland. Truly a magical place.
I think you might enjoy Ladyhawke (1985)
Good suggestion.
I am so glad you enjoyed this. Stardust is one of the many movies I feel didn't get the big box office success that it deserved but which has hung around and endured because its just so charming.
This is my favorite movie of all time. It brings me such joy.
And don't forget Peter O'Toole as the old King!
It’s Mr. Weasley 🥰 (goat turned human)
...my third time watching this reaction...Spread the love for STARDUST!!
No one I tell about this movie has heard of it. But it's so good!
Man, this is such a fun movie. I watched it a bunch of times when it came out and then sort of forgot about it.
I think it was on TUBI at some point
His children's book Coraline was made into a claymation movie.
His novel "America Gods" was made into a TV series for Starz but it went off the rails in later seasons.
The comics that he wrote while working for DC Comics (home of Superman and Batman) have been adapted into two recent Netflix show "Sandman" (season 2 in the works) and "The Dead Boy Detectives" ( a Sandman spin-off)
One of his early novels which he co-wrote "Good Omens" is a TV series on Amazon Prime.
Wasn't Neverwhere a TV series, back in the 90s? Also, it seems it was a TV series before it became a novel...
Ahem, co-wrote Good Omens. Co-wrote. With the great Terry Pratchett.
@@abeartheycallFozzy i said co-wrote.
@@Flamebeard0815 you are correct. I read the novel long before I was aware of the TV series. And it was years later before I saw the show so I got the order wrong.
This is right up there with Princess Bride for me. Absolutely amazing movie. Everything about it is perfect
I love this movie! One of my favorites (Ever After is also on my favorites list). So glad you got to experience it.
This is one of those films that when it's on I'll watch it every time . Great great film
I loved this one, I am glad you liked it, I would also recommend "Lady Hawk".
This is one of my favourite movies! Glad you got to watch it! I highly recommend getting the illustrated book as well - a great way to share this incredible story with your kids!
