I love to see this game getting more recognition. It was one of the first games I ever played back on the Xbox 360 and it holds a very special place in my heart. Fantastic game, love the story and sandbox mode. Thank you for making this video!
A lot of people's childhoods died with Six. Following the Chief and his story of clowning on the covies, we had grown use to the knight slaying the monsters, so for some, Halo Reach was a slap of reality of why monsters are feared. Halo Wars, Reach, and ODST had grown to be my favorites of the series, not just because they lack the Chief (who's story in universe of ass whooping is not the reality for most UNSC forces) but because they tell a different, painfully human tale: how much suffering can we as a people push back against in an uncaring universe for the opportunity of a brighter future and a loving world. Whether underserved or not, no 343 game, no matter how "emotionally impactful," is ever going to be as personal as the fall of Reach, at least for me.
I still play Reach largely due to the incredible armor customization / ranking system. Unfortunately the servers were shut down and now there’s a credit limit of a mere 1000 credits per day but even still, playing the campaign and firefight and getting to see my own Spartan creation in the in game cutscenes is unbeatable.
There's something that you touched on that, thankfully, more people are seemingly finally starting to realize: this whole time, 343 has been a MS puppet due to MS filling 343 leadership with corporate yes men who would tow the company line and not argue or push back like Bungie regularly did, and that most of the blame for the state of Halo since 2012, be some of the criticisms fair or otherwise, can largely be traced back to MS moreso than 343.
@@ATG3192 yeah, i think that’s definitely become the more general view over time. How true it is we’ll have to wait and see if ex 343 people come out and say. I think the fact that the studio was built purely to create halo games does raise questions about the creative ambitions of the studio and its leadership.
You’re right up until you say moreso 343 is just as corporate as Microsoft. They are the same. It isn’t just the man agent that is Microsoft, but all the employees are handpicked by Microsoft management. Meaning that the employees they have are the same kinds of employees you’d see at any corporate office and they themselves replicate the corporate work environment. It’s why 343 devs get on twitter and yell at fans instead writing in their journal about their corporate bosses. They’re cut from the same cloth as their bosses
This isn’t entirely true. 343 made the decision to dramatically change the art style for Halo for example. Microsoft wanted the more classic/Bungie looking art style. They didn’t think it was a good idea to change Chief’s look. 343 insisted on it and MS let them. Microsoft gave 343 a lot more room to breathe than you think. Many of 343’s creative decisions were their own and theirs alone.
Halo Reach was the last good Multiplayer and it collapsed pretty fast. Probably my most played by total hours. Forge was so good. I remember I made an octagon style map so large and compatible with all standard game types. Race spawned a whole track. Ctf spawned an entirely different interior similar to Asylum. From the outside the structure looked like a perfection Medal. Good times
One of my personal great gaming moments... is from Reach. You are on your personal chopper, in the city mission. A covenant cruiser explodes onto the scene, and drifts basically into position. Its in the horizon. you are getting your orders and BOOM... My jaw hit the core of earth... that scene has stuck with me as one of the coolest moments in a video game. SO GOOD
I’m not sure if it’s cause we have better game play now but going back playing reach is such an eye opener to how far we’ve come to gaming. Love the video and great breakdown in bungie/343 era of gaming with halo. Reach will always be a game people will talk about for years from the back story in lore, the last game bungie made for halo. This game will live the test of time.
@@BreakingSigns thanks! Whilst I played Halo 2 and 3 much more/longer due to being a fiend on Xbox Live - Reach always left a big impression on me. Replaying it I was glad it didn’t disappoint
Nah man reach broke me. What a solid game. When the team started to die throughout the story it was like my heart was chipping away bit by bit. The last mission especially just made me not play it but I had to finish it in hopes atlest some survive. Only Jun did but was it enough?
reach was pretty good for campaign and customs but the multiplayer was ass imo. armor abiltiies were such a misstep that get in the way of the halo gameplay loop
Funnily enough the halo franchise is very similar to the starwars franchise, everyone loves the originals, people like the prequels and everyone hates the sequels, both halo 5 and the last jedi are god awful and nobody likes them.
I got the Xbox 360 game disk and also the game manual, have been since I got it around early 2017 :) I was around 9 back then Sometimes I make new accounts to hear the achievements, gives me satisfaction when hearing the 360 sound Amazing:)
The multiplayer was not fun imo. But the campaign and everythinf else was and is ontop everything thst comes out today. Imo halo reach is my favortie halo game and of all time cause of how beautiful the campaign was. In addition it was my very first halo game and game into the industry
I enjoyed it but I definitely played more multiplayer in 2/3 - and the general consensus seemed to be that it wasn’t as good. Campaign wise though it’s definitely one of the strongest halo games. What a great first halo game to play
I bought the Xbox for Halo, the 360 for Halo and later the one for Halo because I was coping that after 4 they’d make a good game. I was there at the start and they lost me completely, you can only drop so many stinkers while shitting on established lore and the fanbase
I think infinite really hurt me because I dared to dream I’d get the halo game I’d been wanting haha. The multiplayer beta felt so good and then well… we know what happened
I didn’t hate the campaign. Pacing was an issue but I think there were far bigger issues with the game. Super frustrating really because it felt so close in many ways
It was pretty bad it could’ve been great if they made didact an actual boss fight and not some bs quick time event it needed more vehicle sandbox and the ordinance and loadouts needed to be nerfed for mp if they did these things h4 would’ve still went down as just a decent game no one ever wanted the wasted storyline of the forerunners and the prometheans the forerunners should’ve been left a mystery like in original trilogy 343 just can’t stick to source material for the life of them

Forge and even custom game types in the older halo games just added so much life to the games and the community
Halo reach is peak nostalgia for me, first shooter game I had ever played, it is still my favourite.

@@theknightjester thanks man that means a lot

aye, captain, I'll replay this masterpiece for the 3677 time
Bungies worst game craps on any of 343s non remasters

I think there’s a lot of people out there with trauma after playing Reach and watching Noble die haha
Keep up the good work. Your voice reminds me of a chiller Ahoy and content is good.
@@masterofrockets thanks man, definitely hoping to get back in the flow.
I’ll take the voice comment as a compliment? Haha
Anyone with their head screwed on straight knows that.

Halo Reach is basically Star Wars Rogue one before Star Wars Rogue one done better❤
I’m convinced rogue one just stole the plot from reach.
This is a great summary haha
Funnily enough the halo franchise is very similar to the starwars franchise, everyone loves the originals, people like the prequels and everyone hates the sequels, both halo 5 and the last jedi are god awful and nobody likes them.
I agree lol by far so comparable!
Halo3 to me was peak Halo multiplayer
I got the Xbox 360 game disk and also the game manual, have been since I got it around early 2017 :) I was around 9 back then

Haha that Xbox 360 achievement sound is definitely a hard wired dopamine hit for the brains of a generation

Pretty similar to me mate. I went from not taking the huge Xbox seriously to deciding I needed halo
I really like ODST and Reach.
I might have to ho back and play odst, I do remember enjoying it but it’s been a long long time
I think Halo 4 is good, but yeah, certainly not as great as Halo Reach (which has always been my favourite), 5 onwards is a travesty, W take.
I think infinite really hurt me because I dared to dream I’d get the halo game I’d been wanting haha. The multiplayer beta felt so good and then well… we know what happened
halo infinites biggest problem is the campaign with bad set pieces pasceing and story
I didn’t hate the campaign. Pacing was an issue but I think there were far bigger issues with the game. Super frustrating really because it felt so close in many ways
Halo 4 was the only good halo game 343 industries ever made
That game is trash
That game is why I’m no longer interested in future Halo games
