  • Tom teaches how to store Lord of the Rings: Journeys in Middle Earth. This includes a video about how to create a box that will hold and organize all of the cards that come with this game.

    I made two of these nifty little boxes to hold the base game with its two expansions - and to have room for a good number of additional cards. Super easy to make! Thank you so much for sharing your projects with us!

    Just made mine tonight. Printed it out this morning, sprayed gloss clear coat on the sheets. Let them dry outside. Cut them out tonight. Used white glue to assemble. Turned out great. Thanks buddy.

      Yes!!!!!! I'm so glad it turned out! You're more than welcome :D Hopefully I have (or eventually have) more projects that are also useful for ya :D

    Love the box! I have my cards sleeved so I just increased the size a bit to accommodate the sleeves and made two boxes to fit the all! Thank you for all this work!

      That’s so freaking awesome! I’m way glad someone likes it! It was a total life-saver for me.... I just hate having to set up 100 decks of cards.... thanks for taking the time to comment! That’s way cool of you.

      Hey Stephen, how did you increase the size?

    • @magicmonkeyman159753
      @magicmonkeyman159753 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@RBCally After I downloaded the file, I just opened it in adobe and hit print, there is a custom scale in the print settings. I could only increase it to 103% since any higher went off the page. This just about fits the sleeved cards with only a little bit of squeezing. If you could find some legal card stock paper I'm sure you could go a few more percent to make the fit perfect.

    great solution Tom. I used photopaper in my printer. Have a nice glossy box now. Thanks.

      Oh nice! How do you like that? I keep almost doing glossy -- but the though of finger prints on my boxes gives me all of the anxiety....

    Very nice, can you make a box that can include the cards from the expansion also (sleeved pls)?! plus the dividers? Also a 3d print file for this box would be much appreciated!!!

    This is great! Thank you so much! I currently don't have tape at hand but I do have this Pritt glue stick. Im wondering if you have tried that, or do you find that taping is better/sturdier?

    • @TomTeachesGames
      @TomTeachesGames  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think a glue stick would be fine. The reasons I don’t use a glue stick are that it is messy, and occasionally goes “outside of the lines” (and therefore could stick to cards), and as time goes on, the glue would eventually harden to the point of not holding the paper anymore. So I prefer tape, but glue is certainly possible.

      Very much so! Is there any chance of a card storage solution for Eldritch Horror? :)

      Unfortunately I don’t own Eldritch Horror.... so for now, it’s a “no.” Sorry!

    Does this need to be printed in A4 or A3 ?

      Hmmm, I’m not familiar with either of those. I use 8.5 x 11 inch paper

      I'm not sure that I'm getting this expansion, but someone did email me a list of new tabs.... I'm hoping to make those sometime this week....

    This is a fantastic (and cheap) solution - thank you for sharing! How necessary is it to raise the FFG insert using the punch out boards? (Asking for a friend who tossed theirs...)

    • @TomTeachesGames
      @TomTeachesGames  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think it's super necessary. Sorry for the delay, it's been quite the year...... But for me, that's just a way to keep things nice and snug and to help prevent stuff from getting tossed around so easily... But you can probably combat that as you lay stuff back in the box just so it fits together as much like a puzzle as possible. Hope that helps!

    Thanks for the video, I took a tea box for the cards 🙈 yours is much nicer. Are you planning such a great series for Lord of the Rings as for Gloomhaven? I really hope so 🍻

    • @TomTeachesGames
      @TomTeachesGames  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m seriously considering it! But... here’s the thing.... getting the app into the video in a good way takes a LOT of work... I did it for Clank! and it took forever.... so I’m really really thinking about it, but haven’t decided for sure that I am committed to making 10 videos with full app-integration... ya know? But maybe!

      @@TomTeachesGames Oh, I understand that, of course.
      Unfortunately, I have no idea what and how much time in a video at work. I thank you for your videos and stay hopeful 😉

    your dividers are awesome (not to mention the box ;)) - thanks !!! Any chance you're planning to do similar dividers (double sided) for Marvel Champions ? there are many at BGG but none are double - sided :(

      Thank you!
      I still haven't jumped into the Marvel Champions pool yet.... so sadly I don't have any current plans for those. Sorry!
