TSMC boss did alot of thinking about this, and he made the right decision. In order to preserve TSMC's future, TSMC must not be allowed to fall into the hands of the communist regime no matter the cost.
Actually you are partially incorrect in your promise. Taiwan law is strict on immigration, but relatively relaxed with folks to Taiwan under 3 months. I personally have pulled in 10 engineers from the US for an equipment install at TSMC Taiwan; usually 1 or 2 at a time, different experts at different phases of the install.
They are investing "Here". This means they don't want to waste a bunch of money on building a plant that is already "behind schedule." Why not be thankful for the new jobs and the technology. We are fortunate they don't just pull the plug on the whole thing. When it is up and going they will probably wish they had. 1:47
If only they could get workers with the same talent, work ethic and intelligence in America maybe they wouldn’t bring in foreign labor. They’re a foreign company to begin with. If America is so great, then maybe the US should develop chips that could break the 5nm mark. Guess they can’t so stop blaming TSMC and blame America. This is the first time TSM is “behind” and the only change has been this one single thing: they moved to the US.
Sad the US is portrayed with laziness and ignorance. Everyone here wants more pay but less work time. If someone else is willing to put in the effort and get the job done faster, then let them. Quite pathetic if you ask me.
There is a reason that America's manufacturing isn't competitive on world market. To demand any wage level and sustain it, American workers need to prove that their value creation in the final products will be more than those "cheap" labor. If everyone can do everything you do for a better price, you just demand more because you are "American"? Just ask American consumers if they want to pay much more to support their American compatriots. Better still, ask these American workers if they go out shopping for much more expensive American made products for their own consumption. tsmc never wanted to build this fab in the US in the first place. tsmc was forced to come here by US politicians. Why not just let tsmc go back to manufacture in Taiwan, and we just by imported chips? American workers demand more because America's cost of living is higher. American workers need to work on products/services that are of much higher value creation, like design. Chip manufacturing isn't going to sustain.
to be fair, wages these Arizona labor got is already on the par if not more, or they wouldn't accept the offer in the first place. It's time to deliver not talk. It's either TSMC way or highway. Whatever they have learned from Intel or other US chip companies don't matter. Can't adapt to it? We should pull the plug and come back to Taiwan.

You should place the blame on the American governments. The US strategy was always outsourcing manufacturing outside of the US. So blaming TSMC is kinda stupid. If TSMC wasn’t forced by the US to keep the chip making going, they wouldn’t ever dreamed of setting up a chip making plant in Arizona. The only reason why the American government want TSMC in the US is to secure semiconductors away from China and to have supplies of chips for most of the high US tech firms.
"The US strategy was always outsourcing manufacturing" How US gov is to blame? In a scenario where USA build your own chip, you still lose with Taiwanese and Korean and Chinese chip company because with the way USA labor whine, they can't do the job! If by any chance they can do the job, it will cost 5-10x more than asian chip! Do you think most business are patriotic and buy the chip that does the same thing for 10x more ? Just think with your brain rather than being a beta always look for someone to blame! You American can't because you ask premium price! It is what it is!
How daft do you think Taiwanese company be? Do you think the Chinese won't know what you have once TSMC is in? TSMC may be Taiwan, but mostly for them it is only business!
US labour work attributes n labour unions r not in sync with chinese style management. Chinese workers tend to work harder n longer hours under extreme work conditions that US workers are not prepared to accept. A basic difference of Asian vs American students studying.

Love this I’ve been at TSMC over a year and the conditions there are trash compared to Intel you can tell they want to shit on US workers and we won’t have that … that’s where the real issue comes alive !!!!
Now I know why US can't make most advance chip. It's obvious.
Americans built Silicon Valley long before US-taxpayer-sucking Asian thieves ever set foot in America.
TSMC boss obviously did not do his due diligence before embarking on this multi billion dollar project
It's called criminal defamation.
The management philosophy and work culture of the Taiwanese and the US are totally different. One is company before self and the other is self before anything else. It is not going to end well!
They were told to build it or be sanctioned, literally
TSMC boss did alot of thinking about this, and he made the right decision. In order to preserve TSMC's future, TSMC must not be allowed to fall into the hands of the communist regime no matter the cost.
Biden threatened them to build a plant in the US. TSMC never wanted to build a plant there at the first place
You can’t bring foreign labor workers to USA for this project. That’s wrong and they would never let us bring workers to Taiwan, that I can promise.

Chinese building standards are much different than US standards. I had a feeling this would be a disaster
Yeah, Chinese building standard called for a computer chip plant, US standard classified it under potato chip production
Americans are more concerned about rights than working hard, how do you expect TSMC to stay.
Americans built Silicon Valley long before any other parasites moved in. Do you even know history?
TSMC can come to Southeast Asia. It's nearer and they have cheaper labor and qualified talent. TSMC can cancel all the factories in the US.
Bye. We don't need you.
No they can't .It's an order from the Boss either built it in America or sanctioned
Sad the US is portrayed with laziness and ignorance. Everyone here wants more pay but less work time. If someone else is willing to put in the effort and get the job done faster, then let them. Quite pathetic if you ask me.
Everything the world has came from America and American workers. 8 U.S. Code § 1182 - Inadmissible aliens
Senator Kelly is awful!!! awful
Half that plant will be workers from their country and they will hold the bigger jobs. The US gave them so much.
American workers invented Silicon Valley long before tech even existed in Asia. 25 years ago Asia was begging the USA for help.
@@tenminutetokyo2643 good old days are long gone. US wasted 2 trillions in two wars, outsourced millions of manufacturing jobs elsewhere, addicted to issues related to genitals/gender and endless quarrels. Other countries are not sleeping sitting this time.

@@tenminutetokyo2643 American workers need to focus on their strengths in innovation, their products have to be able to charge a premium in the world market to sustain the higher labor costs going into the products. Otherwise, the demand for higher wages will eventually bring down every American manufacturing. It is not about who invented what and when. It is about how American manufacturing can compete in the world market and sustain its higher costs.
1. Behind schedule
2. Not all the workers are union
3. We need the jobs that follow the initial construction.

Most US pols in US governments are paid off by foreign powers. "Bribing the world with Chinese characteristics". Google it.

US labour work attributes n labour unions r not in sync with chinese style management. Chinese workers tend to work harder n longer hours under extreme work conditions that US workers are not prepared to accept. A basic difference of Asian vs American students studying.
