Hopefully the devs plan on fixing the truck system now that the game’s actual progression is finished. Like Kibz said, the worst part is having to re-drive the whole route if you mess up anywhere along the way or want to even slightly change the path itself
@@alexsiemers7898 You don't necessarily have to re-record if you mess up. You can keep recording, get back to the last good node, continue the route and then when its done go back and delete the nodes where you made the mistake. Though if the mistake is big enough re-recording the whole thing can be the quicker and easier option. Changing the path though, yeah you gotta do the whole thing again regardless
I learned that, if you ever make a mistake while recording a vehicle route, you can just complete the route and then go back and delete the nodes where you crashed and then the truck will just connect to the next node in the chain. So for example lets say you have nodes 1, 2, and 3, and you had a crash or stopped or something undesirable happened on node 2 that messes with your speed. You can just walk up to node 2, delete it, and then the truck will now just drive from node 1 to node 3. I don't know the limits of this feature, but it is something you can do. Makes me wish that you could just place the nodes yourself and the vehicles would simply drive on them instead of having to drive it yourself at all.
I also found out that it rarely matters if routes have mistakes. Even If there is some mess up they will enter ghost mode and return to track after same time. I try to fix it, but there are moments where i go whatever, fix it letter and everything still works. At the end even basic Tractors have such huge transport capacity that efficiency of their road don't have much impact. You don't even have to think about buffer storage since truck station is exactly that.
. It's a collision thing, truck already at full speed or accelerating makes u ragdoll. And where he starfished into the void, we'll he was ragdolled, the body slid into the wheels.
23:04 To be fair, creatures can also spawn on your roads depending on how and where you build. In my current playthrough, I built The Slabᵀᴹ over a pretty large area of the rocky desert, and it just so happens that a Bean has its respawn point in the middle of my belt-bus. I've had to put him down 3 or 4 times over the course of messing with things because he just kept respawning there and couldn't move at all. As an added note, I don't personally like Trucks. But, I have set up a route or 2 in my run to cart the SAM and Quartz out of the spider cave, and while setting up the route, no paved roads at all, I hitched a ride back to base by just standing ontop of the truck. It didn't like that, went into ghost-mode, begun hovering about 30m off the ground and did the entire trip back that way. Who needs roads if you have flying Trucks.
Fantastic example of why I'm stunned that the devs don't let you place, rotate, and nudge driving nodes by hand instead of forcing you to drive it yourself...
The trucks are so glitchy sometimes I find them in the strangest of places like they have a mind of their own. Somehow the tractors don't have this issue though.
Tractors are smaller and have a better hitbox. Btw, I tried to make some decorative routes for factory carts around my factory and they are doing routs perfectly, even on catwalks!
True, tractors are very capable and viable even in the late game when you have to deal with several nearby smaller factories you need to pick up the produce from to deliver to the central mega factory. Also at least in the past the tractors were just simply more powerful. They could climb 4 meter ramp while trucks couldn't. Not sure if it's still the case.
Its really not that bad and setting up the truckroute is pretty fun too. You can also drive alot on natural roads just make sure you have a 2 way road otherwise a deadlock will happen
Love the road network. After watching you play and getting the game I had set up an overworld road network with offroad paths for tractors to get stuff. Really Really fun networks.
Liquid biofuel lasts so long i only had to buy like 4 stacks of it from the awesome shop before i got the hoverpack and made it mostly obsolete for factory building. Still great for hypertube travel, but ion and rocket fuel is king for exploring - its so speedy
While on the point of adding movement, knowing they struggle with inclines, how about adding trains on viaducts and helixes for movement and other bridge infrastructure? Y‘know, some pretty stuffs between facilities? :3
Jeez, so bro build this entire massive factory with nearly full alien-technology research, tons of hard-drives, sommersloops, and mercer spheres. Doing all that exploring and all that building and did all of that without even chain sawing a single mushroom and having no gas mask and no chute. Not grabbing that low hanging fruit would just urk me the whole build process.
I had a Idea once to make a Inventory sorter where it sorts out for exampel biomass, makes fuel out of it, gives you the bio fuel and some spare Turbo fuel so you can still have a backup. And consumables in general and shreds junk
I use all transport methods. For my city area, which is a new thing I'm trying in 1.0, it has a sublevel where I can belt stuff shorter distances between buildings (hide the spaghetti!). At city ground level I have roads, and I love using trucks on the roads for mid-distance and earlier-game transport -- it really brings the city alive -- but the downside is they tend to deadlock when crossing paths. I also really love the trains, but the amount of space it consumes for the stations and to build the tracks does limit their use a bit; I use them for longer distance transport. And finally, drones which are great when you have some challenging route that none of the other options are good for.
@Skotty64081 You can build 2 story truck route, and when crossing is needed. Make tunnel, so they don't cross paths ever, no deadlock that way. Since vertical space is large, you can always make free space couple stories for trucks, and train stations.
@@juriscervenaks8953 That would mess with my aesthetic, but I get what you are saying. Interestingly, vehicles rarely deadlock when paths cross going in the same direction. I also have a common gas station where my trucks refuel (set station to load, but never route anything to it other than fuel, and it will simply refuel your trucks), and they never seem to deadlock there, presumably because it's a one way entrance and exit.
I've noticed that if vehicles get stuck, they respawn. Its been pretty consistent for me, to the point I haven't needed to fix them manually. Idk when that was added but it solves the biggest issue I had with them. I still think tight turns are their biggest weakness. I've watched a tractor do 11 k turns before continuing on the node.
If you just screw up turns a little bit you can usually get back on track, finish out the route and then go to where you crashed and delete all the extra nodes. I think if you stop the truck back before the turn and get out it won't make new nodes while you aren't in the truck, so you can also just delete all the screwed up nodes and then delete the pause node from stopping.
Have you considered changing the barriers separating your truck stops from the roads to painted beams, with a power pole to mark the turnoffs? You could drive over painted beams in a pinch.

A tip - you can set the pause at a station to 1 second. As long as there is a pause node it will wait for as long as the loading/unloading takes, even if it's longer than 1 second
Someone already mentioned the thing where you can interact with the blue truck route nodes to delete them but it’s worth noting that if you ever set up a route that might run an accident or get stuck, the trucks will try to correct and if they don’t in decent time they will teleport to their next node.
Assuming those 92 coal generators are not overclocked, then you've got something like 660 compacted coal per minute. If you were to feed all those compacted coal into a turbofuel system, you could be making enough turbofuel to feed 107 generators (106 at 100% clocked and one at 66.67%) totaling over 26000MWh. 1.5 foundations never feels enough road for the extra sluggish Trucks post-UE5, especially on autopilot where they have no sense of when to brake. At least the blueprint designers can go bigger now.
Trucks are good for a challenge as well. If you cant transport items more thana 1-2 conveyor lengths, use trucks. If the length is more than a map sqaure, you can use trains or something like that
The fact alone your build areas and travel ways just float magicly in the air anoy's me so much haha. No way all that weight can just float like that, it needs support pillars.
Then going throu trees top and other object also a big "no no" for my brain. Building near the water fall because its pretty you said, and then instantly cover entire area in concreate so you cant see anything pretty anymore haha.
Sometimes I forget kibz is Canadian, then he says sorry and my mind goes DING DING DING DING DING! CANADIAN ALERT!
love the content,
keep going my favourite pioneer!
obviously belts are the more efficient solution but building a truck station setup is much more enjoyable and that's the goal!
Kibitz getting Truck-kun service is hilarious
I dont know if you have thought of this but in my playthough i use Sommersloops in the process of Biofuel so i get like 500 Packaged Fuel out of one alien remain
I CANT BELIEVE KIBZ POSTS SO RAPIDLY LIFE COULDNT BE BETTER!!
11:13- You missed out on saying "Nothing CONCRETE quite yet" for the pun ;-;
