Just wanted to say great job Dad! Letting the little ones be involved and answer their questions instead of treating them like a PIA is so awesome! She will remember it later.
Thanks bro, I am changing mine on my dakota and when I looked at it I thought surely I don't have to take my whole dash apart to install 😂 but this gave me all the guidance I needed
I have a question. I have a Dakota 2002 4x4 and I have no power to the T-case moter. All fuses are brand new. Has a brand new switch ( AWD - to a 2wd ) and still nothing. Replaced the T-case wiring. Nothing. I don’t want to replace the blue box of doom yet. Just want to know if it is just the blue box….
Hey. I've been trying to figure out what i need to and came across this video of the TCCM replacement. I just bought a 2001 durango 4wd.. has the 2wd then 4hi then 4low on the switch. My switch when the car is on doesn't light up the green light under the 2wd on the switch. Regardless i tried using the switch and nothing happened. Im thinking its the TCCM. Just curious of your opinion. Thanks. I've had like 5 or 6 Dakotas all 2wd and this is my first 4wd so im kind of just learning as i go with this 4wd. Also, I have no service 4wd light on the dash.
Hi Eli. First thing you should check is your 4wd fuse. I’m not sure if it’s called “4wd fuse”, but look for a blown fuse. After that, it could either be your TCCM or the actual electric shifting module on the T case, and I’m. It sure which it could be, but the TCCM is cheapest and easiest to replace if you get one from the junk yard.
@@aireddown813 Okay thank you!! I forgot to mention I checked the fuse already and it was good. Im probably going to do the TCCM first . we will see. Thank you!!..Ill let you know what happens after the TCCM
Hello. If your truck has a rough ride with nothing in it, you may have a shock that is sticky or freezing up. You may also have a broken leaf spring. Check those things first.
Mine just came on. I have an 07 and it was heavy rain so I put on 4wd lock and after getting thru the standing water and trying to disengage the lock my svc light came on. Do you think the water from a puddle may have dislodged something?
Dude, totally enjoyable video to watch, your daughter makes for a fun addition ! Did you try a switch replacement before the TCCM ? Thanks, Angier, NC.
So I have a 2006 Durango with the 4.7. It has a single speed transfer case (NV144) so AWD and 4LOCK(4HI) only. I'm trying to figure out a way to get 4LO, 2wd would be great too but might be expecting too much. Do you think I can swap a NV244(the one you swapped out) with a tccm from the same vehicle and it would work? The NV244 typically came on the 5.7 Hemi Durangos of the same era (2004-2009). I have no idea if the PCM or something else would freak out because its not the same engine?
@@shawnsmith7026 if you have an AWD Durango, it can happen if your tires aren’t all the same size. Like if you have less air in one of them or mismatched tires.
@@aireddown813 ok I changed mine and it didn't work so I thought maybe it needed to be relearned but it could just be be that I have something else wrong too. But at least the service 4x4 light is off I still don't have control of my 4x4
@@aireddown813 I can't seem to find mine I don't know if it is incorporated with other things but I'd had the battery disconnected multiple times and what not im almost wondering if my shift motor isn't bad. I just had to replace the tcase again for the third second time because of a driveshaft failure that literally shattered the tcase lol
Haha. Thanks! I’m not always so patient, but she’s a good kid. I think the Durango/Dakota completely changed after 2004, so I doubt this will apply 100%. It may be partially the same if you’re lucky. Good luck!
Yup. The actuators are the “same” for both AWD and part time, and the switches are interchangeable, so regardless of the tcase, actuator and switch, that 2wd/awd position is the same.
@@aireddown813 so thanks to you, it inspired me to do it, i bought a 233-d for my 2003 durango, my last problem is i don’t know which tccm to get, the one in my truck with awd is 242ag and the one that i got from a buddy is 242ai, but i’m not sure if it works with mine or not, how do i find that out?

@@aireddown813 so we’ve done everything, not sure if i’ll get a response or not. but does the TCCM need flashed to the vin? mine isn’t switching anything
@@jdoggamers1008 No, the TCCM is plug and play. Do you get any 4WD lights on the dash? Do the little LEDs on the 4WD switch light up? It’s possible you have a blown 4WD fuse or maybe your actuator is bad.

You literally did the exact same thing I did. I had an AWD and out a 4WD t case in and now my light just came on. This video helped so mich

Think that plug is the anti theft device. If you pull the white part out it disables the ignition signal.

It’s difficult or course to say for sure. Since you replaced everything else, it’s a lot more likely to be the blue box of doom.

It’s possible. Crawl under there and see if it’s all together. Unplug and replug maybe to see if there’s junk in the connection.

Thank you! I didn’t try a switch replacement before hand. I don’t remember why, but I was convinced the TCCM was the culprit.
