That cake plate was my first ever uranium glass in the wild discovery 😮. I just bought it today. Played fallout after watching the show. Somehow ended up getting into the uranium glass rabbit hole. lol. So I’m happily admitting I’m a rookie. But thank you for all the great helpful information! Very addicting hobby. Scouting my local town garage and estate sales for the summer lol. 😂 what a time to be alive.
Thank you for this. Very clear explaination. I went on my 1st hunt yesterday & stopped in my local thrift store with uv flashlight in hand & 'viola!' I spotted 2 small uranium glass bowls & the total price wss $5.00!
Thank you for the easy to digest knowledge on the difference of the 3! I can now say that I just purchased my first "glowing" piece. It is a Vaseline Daisy Button tray! I just ordered a black light to go huntin' at the thrift!
I boxed up my mom's collection that was passed down from my father's family. I am trying to get rid of it as I don't collect glassware. It needs to go to someone who will enjoy it, I think. I guess I better get a black light first. Lol. Good info on this video.
This could also be confused with radium... Westclox historical factory from the 1800's is only twelve miles from my house. Check into the "Radium girls". Radium produces the more green tinge and true uranium is more yellow than green, closer to the Vaseline glass in looks without the black light, but hey, I'm no antique specialist, just a history buff that's been trained to handle uranium in all of its forms, even the "cloudy" form. This video just caught my eye for some reason.
I found 2 vases. One clear maybe slightly smokey, and one light purple or Amethyst.. both glow. So follows same rule, maybe Vaseline if more to the yellow vs green?
I have been collecting for a while and I have come up to something I could not figure out. I got a very hot piece but for some reason it will not glow under UV. It has a reddish yellow color to it. I have searched the internet like crazy and still cannot find an answer.
Whats the difference between uranium glass & vasoline glass. I have a large collection. But just wondering the difference. Plus I've heard about reproduction pieces. What's the difference?
My questions are: does depression glass ever have uranium in it so that it glows? How do I tell the difference between pieces that glow if they are depression, uranium or vaseline glass?
Harbor freight carries a UV spectrum blacklight for 7 bucks that works great. Its smaller than the one in the video. Runs on 3 AAA batteries and is bright. It fits in the pocket really easy. Its small enough people don't really notice it in your hand so at flea markets. I turn it on and wave it over people don't notice I have it. I grabbed 3 pieces yesterday with it found multi items that weren't marked so they didnt have a clue what it was. They never noticed I scanned them. Couple pieces in jewelry too I have to go back and check out
1:32 The calming music and the nuke is just too funny😂
I like finding tumbled uranium glass on the beach at Lake Michigan it’s fun to collect
Lucky! Wish I had some.
Sounds super fun searching for them at night
The soft music leading into the mushroom cloud lol, interesting dichotomy. Getting myself a little UV light off amazon!
Uranium glass is so cool! I actually have a pink piece that glows slightly!
Just got my flashlight in the mail! Cannot wait to go hunting!

There is also early clear glass that has Uranium in it. It also lights up green.

That is awesome!
Grew up in Rochester, small world! I have two champagne and a sugar glass. Very cool and glad it’s safe haha

I don't find much of it "in the wild" but found two pieces today. The juicer and a syrup jar $2.00 each. Always have a flashlight with me
Yes, bring your UV flashlight as it is neat to find some "in the wild". though every piece I have seen is rather expensive.
What a great haul, thanks for sharing your great finds!!

You still looking for an enjoyer?
I have around 200 pieces of those types of glass from a hoarders property I bought 2 years ago. All different colors.
This was a real thrill watching this video! Thank you so much.
Thanks for the information
I was playing with a black light and i discovered that I have glass jars that glow green! I had no idea uranium glass was so common!
Manganese glass also flouresces under "black light", you need a 395nm blacklight to identify uranium glass.
I think my mom has that yellow depression glass bowl!
Ty for helping me understand this better
Also blue glass that lights up green. Found one that is the vasaline color and lights up the vasaline color too.
love this glow stuff I have a 100 piece collection just now realizing they glow thanks u rock
This was a delight!! thank you!
I have a murano vase that lights up like s christmas tree green
It's really about the pattern that's on the glass
Thanks for the link!
I have a center piece for the flower frog but can't find any info on it. It's about 7" tall and has a kookaburra bird on top. Glows beautifully
What is the clear glass that glows yellow under a black light? Not yellowish green but yellow?
The yellow stuff is called Vaseline glass/ because it kind of resembles Vaseline.
@TwinCitiesAdventures Vaseline glass glows a yellowish green and isn't clear under normal lighting I thought

You were the guy in the shop with the Geiger counter. Quite overkill
Also radium was normally painted on. The radium girls were clock painters
Excellent video, thanks!
Nice video. Would be nice if you would share the prices 😊
Thank you!
Fascinating, great info. Do you know if they made uranium glass insulators?
I’ve never seen one
I live in Indiana and have never really seen any glass like these colors. Should i look harder or is this a regional thing?
It can be found all over the country

Or could it be radium like another person commented 🙄

And no this isn’t fiesta ware it is glass
It might be cadmium glass.

I’m starting to want uranium glass for some reason

Use a black light like I didn’t video
I bought two jars they glowed with a black light but then I noticed the green was peeling off I don't think they're real
What's the name of this antique shop?
Thanks for watching, I added a link below the video so you can find all of the information about the antique store that we are in.
Did they have black lights in the 50's? To see them glow like this?
🤷🏻
Will a UV light work ?
No, you need to use a black light.
