So the liklihood of someone seeking help for depression is lower. Many East Asian countries and South American countries fall victim to this. The idea that mental illness isn't real.

Every day, I get a hopeless feeling of depression that the world we live in is squeezing the middle and lower classes for everything they have and barely compensates them for the work they do, and yet they give free passes to the upper crust of society and don't even bother asking them for payment when they literally burn money as a hobby. And then I watch r/ABoringSociety and feel even more hopeless and drained, knowing my thoughts and fears are confirmed.
If it helps, just know that these situations can't last. By definition they are self destructing. Someone will surely arrive to fix this. Or there will be a riot and you'll fix it yourself. The world might be unjust, but that doesn't mean that nobody can do anything about it.
@@pietrob.9329 Well... The problem with waiting for an uprising is that uprisings only really happen as a last resort when the majority of people are literally unable to feed themselves anymore. We might be in a VERY terrible situation but food is still abundant enough that it's unlikely that vast portions of the population would ever reach the point of being unable to afford food unless some sort of major catastrophe happens to disrupt the supply chain (even more so than CoVID did) and cause food prices to spike hard. So as things currently stand, the chances of an uprising fixing the world is pretty low.
That Target photo at 3:25 is really depressing. Not only did no body show up, but now Target has been repainting their stores from happy red to depressing gray, making everyone more depressed.

This world needs to stop the bs, and hopefully she makes enough to finish the job as she sells selfies of cancer treatment progression and nothing degrading is required.
For the WIC thing, each check they disperse designates what can be bought with it with number of items for packaged food and size for liquids. Usually, from what I can remember of having to take them as a cashier. IE 1 gallon of milk or whatever, so the company shrinking the amount of milk does make it so WIC users can't buy it

And one of the first things she mentions to us during labs, is that if we ever need help with groceries and not being able to afford anything, to hit her up because she knows where all the food banks are and how to access them, because no one told her when she was a student. And they wonder why this country has a shortage of Vets...

When I was a young teen I spent hours staring at that little tintype of Billy the kid as I drew a life sized picture. I carefully transposed from left to right each feature, each wrinkle, each piece of equipment and clothing. That image was tiny, my picture was just over 5' tall. I did it as part of a report on Billy the Kid and I really looked forward to bringing home the picture. Without consulting me my teacher sent it off to an art show. I was furious and devastated. Thanks to that teacher I quit trying in school and in my art. Now 20 some years later I found an image of it online. My art is owned by Getty images. I can't afford to buy an image from them just to use it, I cant afford to buy the copyright back...to my own art.
An English teacher of mine did that with a poem I wrote in high school. Thankfully it was just to the school paper, but it was still without my permission. I didn't want it there in the first place - it was just for a homework assignment.
5:45 WIC has very strict rules on what size containers you can purchase. Because of the size being made smaller, the milk no longer applies. They’re so strict because allowing more leeway on one thing will result in people taking more leeway on other things. 7:56 Society is actively going backwards to before the French Revolution. 14:39 If they pull this crap, I’m gonna close the garage with the car in it every second I’m not using it! You will be held responsible, because you did close the garage door, this causing damage to car. Or they would just make it mandatory to give them remote access to your garage door, so it will be opened, when it happens.
To the first one, let's add that this is absolutely inhumane though. Like, oh no! What if poor people get a LITTLE bit more freedom with the fee resources they have available! This official reasoning is always super overblown, since the few projects where people have just been given stuff (like housing) without much limitation have historically worked out much better than these restrictions. I feel it's important to point this out to other readeds of these comments so it's clear that while these institutions may give reasonings like that, that doesn't mean their explanations are true or sensible.
In marketing the term conversions refers to when someone buys something, especially if there's a free trial and the person decides to upgrade from it. So yeah, tracking conversions most likely meant they were keeping track of how many people saw an ad and decided to actually buy the thing advertised.
0:34 That's certainly a way to put into perspective just how bad the housing situation is... Big yikes. I know I'm only just going to barely make it with my apartment, so wish me luck :x

All that and a standard house with 3 bed room, 1 hall , a kitchen and 2 bathrooms for around 122k USD , also the payment options here are great with big companies such as TATA and BAJAJ helping the poor to buy houses. Also the houses aren't made of cardboard Also if you don't mind living in a apartment , the same thing is gonna cost you only 70-80k USD

5:51 WIC is a government assistance program for mothers of young children. The reason why they don't allow small package sizes is to maximize the benefit. Buying small containers isn't cost effective. A line got drawn on a _proper_ half gallon (64oz) and frankly I'm amazed they shrank their container and still call it a half gallon.
WIC basically is just coupons that you exchange for very specific items like milk and baby formula. So even slight variations like that don't work for the coupons.

It is about time we started organizing with people who also see this in our local areas to start addressing these problems. We need to abolish landlords.
Yeah about that, I dealing with landlords with just a few to a few dozen properties will do jack all to the situation. I work in insurance and I can tell you for a fact that the number of random companies with the most unassuming names that have thousands of properties worth billions in total is way more than anyone expects. Dealing with the random landlord that owns maybe a dozen properties is like pouring a spoonful of water on the Amazon rainforest fire.
@@dis_joint_ed5167 They definitely don't but let's be real here, a local landlord is probably going to have a dozen properties or a few dozen properties at most. Going after them is basically wasting your efforts when you realize there are countless unknown companies out there with thousands or tens of thousands of properties sitting around. Those unknown companies are the people causing the main bulk of the housing crisis so fighting the random local landlords is setting your priorities wrong. Deal with the massive real estate conglomerates first and then use the remaining strength to deal with the local landlords.
Conversions in the context of adds is a term used to refer to the number of people who actually follow the link in the add and is used to determine how successful an add is.
7:55 No, no, no, Jack, you’re getting it wrong, with this information we know who to torture, burn to a crisp and much more when civilization collapses.
9:18 I believe “conversions” in this context is referring to the percentage of people who saw the ad that actually clicked on it or bought the product.
If I recall correctly, 'conversions' is synonymous with 'ad engagement' in the sense that seeing what people pursue or take notice of drives marketing.
"Absentee home owners" mainly means holding companies like Blackstone who are holding onto the properties to raise the rates they can charge for other properties, artificially inflating the price of housing.

The lights in hospitals are meant to help with anxiety. And because people stole lightbulbs. My mom worked as the Environmental services manager and they made this change so people couldn’t steal them, or harm themselves with the broken bulbs.
WIC gives participants vouchers (physical or digital) for very specific brands, sizes and flavors. Like you could get a bag of frozen peas but you couldn't get a bag of frozen peas that have a sauce even if by the same brand, same size, and same cost. They have a real hardon about everyone drinking milk and push it like there's no tomorrow. So when they say 1/2 gallon (64 ounces), they mean 1/2 gallon (64 ounces) and it won't allow the purchase of the new smaller 59 ounce cartons.
15:36 if you read the article. The manager not only saw and reported the “theft” she followed him to a nearby grocery store after reporting to the authorities to make sure he was arrested.
as for "conversions", yeah, that's a proper term in ad businesses, basically the amount of impressions (aka times that the ad has been seen in total) that *convert* to engagement e.g. clicks and redirects
"Conversion" in the meta post is an advertising term. Conversion rate is the rate at which people do what the ad wants, i.e. click on a sponsored link or buy something from an instagram ad.
"conversions" in marketing is the ratio of advertising/marketing to the amount of sales/profit. Reminds me of Ready Player One, soon 80% of our vision will be filled with ads before inducing seizures.
As someone who was a cashier and have family who've used it The WIC thing is because WIC is very particular about what you can buy,and the sizing was what threw it off. Like it's a useful program, but the specifics are very particular about what you have to buy. From the size to the brand.
The entire country is above the Arctic circle line, so it spends a significant portion of the year either in constant day or constant night, not the environment humanity evolved for and it fucks with our emotional regulation
When i die, someone in the heavens will say: "Good job, you survived the hell. Your karma is now cleaned. And by the way, you could have gone out, anytime you wanted."
The use of conversions is correct in that context. A conversion is someone who buys a product after seeing an ad for it. AR goggles can track conversions for non-online sales, but that's not what's alarming there. They want to reach a 100% conversion rate, which is impossible to achieve short of doing something like showing an ad shortly before someone purchases the item. Even then that's dubious because they were already in the process of purchasing it before the ad, meaning the ad had little if any effect on the sale. Normal conversion rates, even optimistically, are well below 50% for the average product.
That thing about the Ford repossessing itself reminds me of those old gen. Renault EV's (Fluence, Zoe, Twizy etc.) they had a service system where you bought the car, but the battery was still owned by Renault, and you had to rent it. It had a cellphone connection to a server somewhere, and if you missed payments it would disconnect the battery next time you turned off your ignition, so basically your car was bricked until you payed up.
ok crazy idea everyone pool all their money so that every one can get out of america and move to everywhere that isn't america and don't tell any of the people running the government.
9:20 A conversion is someone who looks at an advert and then buys the product depicted in the advert. Modern advertising platforms don't simply charge advertisers to display the adverts. Modern advertising platforms only charge for conversions, which is generally measured in how many people click on the advert but for TH-cam video ads, it also includes people who watch most of the advert. However, often, adverts can influence people to buy a certain product without the person clicking on the ad, which results in uncounted conversions. Facebook seems to be planning on tracking people's purchases and correlating them with the adverts the person was shown, so they can charge advertisers for more conversions.
9:24 - I'm pretty sure "ad conversions" refers to the number of purchases that result from a specific ad. So an ad with a 5% conversion rate would yield 5 sales for every 100 time the ad was viewed. This sort of information is then used by marketing departments to refine their ads by comparing the high-conversion ads with worse-performing ones.
"conversions" in advertisement means basically means successful ad show, because you clicked and bought something or generated positive brand awareness
The USA is really what Europeans would imagine for a fictional dystopian horror story. But sadly it's reality. First time I heard from an American how living in the US I was so shocked. It sounded like a 3rd world country to me 😢
And I think this is why they have the “greatest country in the world“ propaganda drilled into them from an early age. A lot of Americans really do believe it too.
WIC (women, infants and children program) has strict guidelines on milk and other products you can get in a month. A pregnant or breastfeeding woman can get up to 22 qt of milk in a month.
The "US Chips in Russian Military Equipment" isn't really dystopian, nor a matter of war profiteering. It's just that Russia has basically no computer industry worth talking about, so they have to import everything they need, including chips for weapons guidance systems and communications equipment. Quite a few other countries in Europe and Asia do the same, because they either import equipment from the United States, or produce it locally under license, using imported components. That was also part of the reason why Russian radio communications were breached and disrupted early during their war with Ukraine, as they used what was pretty much off-the-shelf equipment anyone can get from the open market. And it's also the reason why Russia, ever since the Soviet Union collapsed, never produced any new military hardware, like, at all, and instead update existing, Soviet-era stock, as their armament firms have no way to produce any new designs without being reliant on components they can only get from the outside, hence things like the T-14 Armata Tank and Su-75 Checkmate fighter jet being little more than show pieces that never saw a day of actual use. So, nothing dystopian, just common industry practice, and the news trying to make it sound like a bigger deal than it actually is. It would would be like saying "The Taliban are using Finnish Communications Equipment" because they found some old Nokia phones used by them.
Given the sanctions this is probably a good thing too, since it means that Russia is incapable of making more weapons without having to navigate around the trade block, so this would be the opposite of dystopian, being able to cripple a war effort without having to kill anyone in the process, all from a continent away

Hi
@@pietrob.9329 Well... The problem with waiting for an uprising is that uprisings only really happen as a last resort when the majority of people are literally unable to feed themselves anymore. We might be in a VERY terrible situation but food is still abundant enough that it's unlikely that vast portions of the population would ever reach the point of being unable to afford food unless some sort of major catastrophe happens to disrupt the supply chain (even more so than CoVID did) and cause food prices to spike hard. So as things currently stand, the chances of an uprising fixing the world is pretty low.

For the WIC thing, each check they disperse designates what can be bought with it with number of items for packaged food and size for liquids. Ngl, this subreddit is pretty depressing when it sinks in this is real life now
"Conversion" in the meta post is an advertising term.

Im not sure how many people got your “agent orange” joke, but i for one appreciated it!
"Drag queens have only been around since the 80s."
SHAKESPEARE WOULD LIKE A WORD WITH YOU-
That thing about the Ford repossessing itself reminds me of those old gen.
9:25 in the context of ads, conversion refers to the rate of people who actually make a purchase after seeing/clicking on the ad.
Conversions are when ads result in sales. People look at ads all day, but only conversions make the advertisers any money.
ok crazy idea everyone pool all their money so that every one can get out of america and move to everywhere that isn't america and don't tell any of the people running the government.
2:20 shout out to my friend chair for keeping me off the floor and my friend trashcan for helping me clean up my life.

This one is for my one and only true love
Princess Peach
[Verse 1]
Peach, you're so cool
And with my star, we're gonna rule
Peach, understand
I'm gonna love you 'til the very end

Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches
Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches
I love you, oh
Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches
Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches
I love you, oh

Mario, Luigi, and a Donkey Kong, too
A thousand troops of Koopas couldn't keep me from you
Princess Peach, at the end of the line
I'll make you mine, oh
[Chorus]
Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches
Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches, Peaches
I love you, oh
[Outro]
Peaches, Peaches
Peach, Peach

My local homeless camp is behind my local Walmart. Its located there because it started when homeless Walmart employees a camp back there. Which is a common enough occurrence to lead to build a camp big enough that some might classify it as a village. Not everyone there is a Walmart employee. But that's how the camp started
I didn't have a "Food Pantry" when I worked at Walmart
