I knew the original members of Steelheart and the way the record company broke that band up were insidious. Story too long for a comment section but Mike really screwed the pooch with the original members because of some lies the record company told him about a solo deal, to get him to break contract with the members of the band and then once they filed suits against him for breaking contract, the record company reneged on the deal and refused to allow him access to their team of lawyers they promised him when he broke contract. Basically, they lied to him, got him to break contract with Steelheart and then left his cheese hanging in the breeze. Where ego, ambition and stupidity meet with a dishonest record company that wanted to get rid of their last Metal band in favor of Grunge. The record company didnt support the band and they went just under worldwide platinum on the first record with only MTV support. So then they tried running the band into debt and not supporting the second record at all and it still sold just under platinum. So they pulled that nasty trick and played on Mike's ambition and vanity and manipulated the breakup of the band.
You can always determine whether singer can really sing if they can hit that first "and we all die yooouuuunnnnggg". This dude couldn't do it. Lots of reverb too. Good attempt though.
