    I was lucky enough to see Steelheart at The Rits in Roseville in 92. I was very eager to see if any human being could actually hit the notes off their album or it was studio magic. I think my jaw was just hung open most of the time. I'll never forget it.

      @@trickdude25 That’s killer man. Yeah that was my first time at the Ritz. If I remember right I think I was surprised that there was really no seating. It was like a concert hall where everyone stood around on the floor. Maybe some round tables in the back and on the sides, but it was like a massive dance floor that people stood out to watch the show.

      @@robinyumnam2646 They were called Red Alert before they were signed. I caught them in a club back in '89 in Connecticut soon after they formed. Some of the set were songs that would appear on the first Steelheart record - plus a few cover tunes. I know "We All Die Young" was released in '95, but their debut was released around 30 years ago.

      @ChrisElrodPastor 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cherylcarpenter8093 No, they formed in late '89 and gigged all over the New England area before they were signed. They were called Red Alert back in those days. They didn't become Steelheart until their first album was about to be released - not sure why the name change. Some of the songs they were doing in '89 ended up on the first Steelheart album.

    • @lilrustee

      The Elrods that’s true. They had to change their name when they got a contract as there was already a band named Red Alert (maybe the British punk band?). Mili wasn’t with them at the time. (He sent in a 4 track demo to the manager Stan Poses and got the job when Stan contacted him and confirmed Red Alert had just received an MCA contract.)

      They were late but they kicked ass so much and had a huge following, I think they still would have been big today if it wasn't for the accident he had, it changed everything. It took him a long time to come back but he did it.

    • @dalemarkwell1171
      @dalemarkwell1171 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @Bo Riddley He is a great singer. His newest album "Through Worlds of Stardust" showcases his talent, even as an older singer. Yeah, I've also caught the occasional flat note in live performances (including this one). But Miljenko Matijevic is in his mid 50s. The fact that he can still pull it together in the studio is a testament to his professionalism.
      His (early 90s) voice from before the accident, reached greatness that many wish they could possess for even 30 minutes. Getting old and hitting a flat note once in a while at a live performance doesn't take away from that greatness. IMHO.
      As far as the guitar being "SO MUCH BETTER" in the movie... well... of course it was! That was Zakk Wylde (2000) playing. Not only was the guitar better in the movie version, the whole style was better. That includes versus all other versions, both live and the original on the Wait album. But remember, Matijevic was the singer on all versions... including the movie version.
      Miljenko Matijevic will always be one of my top 5 favorite front men, no matter what happens to his voice from this point forward.

    • @allendean9807
      @allendean9807 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, he’s flat several times.... and the song is at least a half step down from the original. This is the mistake of many singers from this era. They have trained their voices in standard tuning. Their mind unconsciously knows where to put their voice. Then they transpose those notes, and their brains need to search for where to go. It creates a struggle vocally. Singing is as much mental as it is physical. A trained singer knows unconsciously where their voice needs to go before they even hit a note. How tight to tune their vocal folds, where that note is going to be in their head. This is why Iron Maiden still play in standard. Why anthrax play in standard. Why Loudness still play in standard. Their singers sing better in the key they wrote the vocal . I know it might sound weird, but it’s far better to transpose in the key your voice is trained in, than to transpose in a key their voice needs to look for....

    • @blazejecar
      @blazejecar 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      it's a delay effect. The sound guy fucked it up a bit. It happens sometimes. It's not lip sync

    • @burakyy4907
      @burakyy4907 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      i dont think that this is lip sync. too many people use studio recordings to full the sound. but to me, this is more like echo/reverb/freeze kind of live effect on his live voice. so that he can sound more sustained and rest his voice for a few seconds more, while mimicking. It's a long show... But your sound guy have to know song parts and have to watch you carefully :D then that guy panicked and everything looked unrealistic. Mili is a great great singer.

    • @RustyGotBanned
      @RustyGotBanned 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was delay that was used. Originally delay effect was invented for large outdoor concerts where you had one set of speakers on the stage and another set way out in the audience. They would delay the vocals on the stage and give the signal time to get to the speakers that were far away so the vocals would happen at the same time. Now it is mostly used as just an effect designed to thicken and sustain notes
