    Very happy to know the suspension issues got better. The new looks are simple beautifully! The covers are neatly design and refreshing. Simple systems, easy to read and clear dash, lightweight overall, and Yamaha reliability ! And it rides like a sports bike! Wow I'm buying!

  • @BBFazer

    Cager, what an excellent test. Very good comparison from the old tracer 700 to the new tracer 7! You test many things that are really interesting for buyers. Thanks for this test that made me buy this bike. In 2 days I wel get mine. Can't wait to drive it after years of big bikes like the fjr.
    Have you already tested the new 2023, with the improved dash. I like the new dash a lot. It is so much more modern and links to my phone. Now Yamaha has to upgrade it so googlemaps from my phone can show on the dash like with the new tracer9gt+. Still possibilities to perfect the bike even further.
    I have puig screen and Shad sh58x topbox. A super upgrade!
    The shad sh58x topbox is worth a review also!! What an innovative topbox. My dealer said, its the same system as bmw has. I told him that the bmw cases are made by Shad and is a Shad development. haha, he was surprised but send me a message that he looked it up, and I was right.😂
    By the way, were is your testtrack and the beautiful towns you are driving thru. Somewhere in Portugal I understand, but our next holiday could be in Portugal, so would be nice to have this beautiful scenery! Keep testing and enjoying!
    Update 20-10 23: I have my tracer 7 now for two weeks and have done 1853 km. on it. After my previous fjr1300AS this is a very good bike and I have not been missing power or comfort. I love it!
    B.t.w. a test of the 2023 tracer with upgraded dash, but especially the upgraded brakes would be wonderfull too. As you have the "old"tracer, you could compare it to the new brakes very good. To me it feels like the 2023 model brakes much much better then the previous model.

  • @aGentleUser
    @aGentleUser 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I still ride my NC, but sometimes think of sth more sporty. However more likely as addition not a replacement.
    I once rode the MT-07 and loved the engine. However the suspension and ergonomics was much much worse then on my NC.
    If I would think of replacing, well that might be a candidate now.
    The look is great! Better then the new Tracer 900 ... even much better the new MTs :D

    I agree with your review but i figured i would put up with the suspension and some less trimmings ,but its still a good bike .

    6:20 - the fairings on the new one are clearly smaller than the old one? I think the old forks can be hugely improved with an upgraded spring kit. I also prefer the looks of the old one, it looks like a classic bike.

  • @paulnorman8274

    The Suzuki 650 is a better engine. Just so you know...... :) Once you adjust to keeping its revs just slightly higher than on the MT, the v-twin is just an absolutely magical engine. Suzuki should fit it in something Goldilocks-sized, halfway between the SV and VStrom, though. Like Yamaha is doing.
    Also, not sure who sells Aprilia in your neck of the woods, and I have never seen you review one, but they need to get you on their new, more sport focused, 660........ You're the Internet's most enthusiastic and credible reviewer of all-round sporty middleweights. You'd probably love it. And leave no doubt about how much, either.... :)

    Hey Cager, you've been riding your tracer 700 for quite some time now. I am interested in one but I want to know what are your feelings about traveling on tracer 700 with passanger and side cases, basically going for few houndred kilometers trip with girlfriend and with baggage. I'm not talking about going 180kph on highways, more like 130-140 cruising. Do you think Tracer 700 is capable of that or should I go for Tracer 900?
    Cheers mate

      Forget long distance traveling with the Tracer 700 with a passenger and luggage. A friend of mine bought his Tracer in 2017 and in the first week he had it we rode to Austria. Was a 1000km trip and at that time I didn't have a motorcycle and was riding with him as passenger. It was the worst trip in my life. Never again. The Tracer 700 is a "rider's only" bike. For a short trip it's okay, I would say less than 100km with passenger. Even the 900 will not be good with passenger and long distance traveling.

    • @paulnorman8274
      @paulnorman8274 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They square off, as well as turn slick and greasy, if you ride where it's _really_ hot. Particularly on powerful bikes ridden hard. But Portugal isn't Palm Springs. And few people buy Tracers to do midsummer track days in the dessert. For a "do it all bike" (as per Cager), they are a fantastic choice. Doubly so on one as light in the front as the Tracer, as the only other issue with them, can be that all the siping can make for a soft and imprecise feel on front focused big bikes like the FJR et al. In general, in most parts pf the world (as in not SoCal...), nowadays most/all tires are perfectly fine when it's warm and dry. It's when it's wet and cold things can et iffy. So it makes all the sense in the world to focus on cold/wet performance on any bike which isn't a dedicated fairweather track bike or canyon carver.
      That being said, riding a zx6r in Socal, I prefer Contis and Bridgestones over any Michelin I've tried....... But if I'm renting somewhere, I make a bit of an effort to pick a bike with Pilot Roads on it, over virtually every other tire on rental bikes. PRs just work, and have seemingly garnered enough of a reputation among frequent renters, that rental shops who otherwise just fit the cheapest high mileage tires they can find, often do fit them. (Unless you rent a high spec Ducati.... Those always get the high spec, low mileage, Pirelli treatment. And cost 3 times what anything else cost....)
