    John Carpenter is a legend of filmmaking. His movies and his legacy will be remembered for a long long time. I sometimes wonder if he realises how much fans like myself love his movies and his genius.

    Loved it! John Carpenter is clearly bored in a lot of interviews he does these days, but he seemed to be enjoying this one. And he even said he might direct again... loved hearing that from the man himself

    Carpenter is the last of a dying breed of old school horror greats. I wish he was still making movies but I am glad that he is enjoying his second career as a rock god of synth.

      Yup. George Romero is already RIP. It'll be a dark day when Carpenter checks out. Cronenberg sold out a long time ago. There's no one left.

      @curiositytax9360 Ah! A Cronenberg crony, eh?. Lost interest in Cronenberg after Naked Lunch. Especially when his next movie after that was M.Butterfly which sounded like the crying game minus the cool Boy George song. Got too artsy-fartsy for me...

    • @curiositytax9360
      @curiositytax9360 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@robzilla730 haha a Cronenberg crony. I don’t care about Cronenberg. I don’t really like his films. Doesn’t mean they aren’t good. You said he sold out but it’s the complete opposite. Carpenter sold out. He just directed some shit tv show from his couch. It was shot in Prague.
      And he sits around all day playing shit video games and watching sport. That’s the life of someone who has creatively given up. Carpenter never evolved. This is why during the 90’s his work starts to stick out like a sore thumb and is rather embarrassing. He now plays concerts with his kid of all his old music. Gimps turn up dressed as Michael Myers and dance around to the Halloween theme. He wants to direct but can’t because he’s completely out of touch with everything.
      Artsy fartsy? Your the reason we have all this marvel dog shit. He’s just made films and not rehashed. Did it in his own way. That’s not artsy. It takes balls, something your probably missing.
      They aren’t artsy fartsy haha. Your probably just abit dim. You should stick to sweaty embarrassing conventions full of gremlin people who eat pizza and talk about Halloween and the horror fandom. Of course your a gamer or proudly call yourself a gamer. Your addicted to an elaborate slot machine and use it to fill the void of your empty life.

    The Invisibles both have the same glasses. It's like in They Live. That's how they see each other.

  • @LindaNewmanAndersson
    @LindaNewmanAndersson 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Talking about being invisible, we write our destinies or are given us, his film Memoirs Of An Invisible Man comes to mind, there's so much of this director in his films, I can relate to that invisibility, and that's okay, what's better, being loved by everyone only later finding out how fake their love was or just finding those few right people around us who we know their love is real, we all are unique, and not everyone can see us for who are. Yea probably like most Carpenter's work, only few of us have the eyes to see what and who is there for us.

    They Live is a must see film. The film works on 2 levels. There's the space alien shoot 'em up side, but there's also the critique of 80s consumerism. The sunglasses (Albert Hoffmann lenses) are an allegory for LSD. 'Phew, it's like a drug, but you come down hard' says Roddy Piper's character when taking off the glasses. Watch the film again.

    I think Carpenter should come back and direct a sequel to Halloween, just to prove to those in doubt, that nobody can recreate a masterpiece like he could. Even though most of us already know how tops he really is.
    And also the 40+ years of those of us who always remembered how scared we were the first time we had heard about it, and maybe had come across the trailer on tv, while hiding under whatever was around. Spine chilling.
    If he would just immerse himself into the score, and write a innovative story, and bring in new tricks, it could be legendary.
