@@Amarantine1 It will probably work but it takes some extra effort to beat Lanturn. Tue fish matchup is where the shadow does its best. I heard some had success using Ferro over Aslash as well if you want to try that.

Same here. I remember last year I had a lot of fun with this cup. This time though it’s been terrible. Stuck in 2200-2400 range. This has been one of the most RSP formats I’ve ever seen. I tried different teams and I get lucky with some and win 3-2 but then lose 1-4 😕

@@champusclipz2293 I was running my Legend team from last season's GL Remix (Shadow Gligar, Shadow Empoleon, Shadow Gatr). Figured it could put in work in OGL this season with less Whiscash and Lanturn. I got as high as 283 on the leaderboards before the pressure of having to play flawlessly every game got to me and I tanked back down to the 2800s :P I made a long post on reddit about the team so lmk if you want the link.
@@Zallen25 I'm finally having a good run leading Golisopod with Ferro/Lanturn in back, but it's so RPS I'm not even really enjoying myself when I'm winning. So many matches just come down to whether my Lanturn ends up aligned on a Mantine or a Ferrothorn. Golisopod has been pretty good as a corebreaker with neutral play into almost everything but the flyers and Regi, so that's helped.
Hey man, just wanted to check in and say thanks for posting this team. I was having an absolutely horrible time in this cup, couldn't get anything to work and dropped from 2600 to the 2300s.
Started using this team as soon as I saw it and three days later hit Expert, witu a 9-1 run to take me over the line! Super appreciate the content as ever 💪

I tried this team and you may laugh… I went from 2488 to 2147 in no time hahaha. Unfortunately this was not a team for me. But nice hitting legend and also catching a shiny zoink 🔥🔥

Haha Congrats. I ran the Sandslash and Mantine core last night and got 200 elo with a 20-5 night. I didn't run Jellicent as the third though. I copied itsAxn who ran quagsire as the third.

@@XehrFelrose I lost like 300 elo in the last 3 days of Fantasy Cup down from 2900s. It was a struggle. But I figured I'd push I Fossil cup for one week and if all else fails, try to hit Legend in Master League with my newly minted Shlundo Dawn Wings

21:15 pacing on SC to DR vs. Spark to Surf is identical *for the first 2 cycles* - then it’s 5 to DR while the Lanturn needs 6 for another Surf. A-slash is 6-6-5 and Lanturn is 6-6-6-5.
Ahhhh I always for some reason thought it was the third surf that was 5!
@@XehrFelrose yep! This is where my math background helps a ton. If they throw immediately they throw 40 energy out of 42 total so they have 2 residual. Since Spark grants 7 energy per fast move divide 7 / 2 = 3.5, so on the *4th* Surf (round the result up) they can throw one earlier. Likewise for Sandslash Drill Run is 45 cost out of 48, leaving 3 residual, and 8 / 3 is 2.67 so the *3rd* Drill Run is available one fast move earlier.

You want a hard check to the counter users. Lanturn can work, otherwise Pelipper or another water that resists Fighting

@@TLRhapsody You could probably make either of those work! I tried Lanturn but it felt very underwhelming. Pelipper might be a good alternative. You just want to make sure it is a hard answer to the fighters.
My old account went to veteran today with poli shadow/ fera shadow/tentacruel, my new account just keeps going hardcountered, not a single possible chance to get a positive set, -120 down today
Congrats on hitting Vet though! This cup has been pretty hit or miss. I find my best chances to get good sets in Fossil has been based on having a good anti Ferrothorn lead that can beat Lanturn, Jelli on safe swap, and a water sweeper as the third that does well once the opposing Ferro is gone.
Could a Sandslash with powder snow instead of Claw as fast attack work too? Or wont be the same?
You lose the Lanturn matchup pretty decisively with PS. If you have a good shadow Aslash it is very worth the Elite TM in my opinion. However if PS is your only option it can work outside of that and the other water types that resist Ice.

Why didn't you use pokemon with more IV in attack to gain a CMP mirror?
Thank you! Two reasons:
1. At the time all three of these mons were fairly uncommon so mirrors were not likely
2. I only have these ones built and did not find it to be worth powering up another set of them for that purpose.

I am a new PvP player, I would also like to reach legendary rank one day. For my sorting, should I keep the best possible rank or around 5/15/15 for the CMP?
@@JeromeLeclercq13 Happy to respond! I try to read and respond to every comment. I would definitely save at least one of anything you get with good IVs, you can use a rank checker like PokeGenie for checking these. Some things are worth saving higher attack spreads if you think they will be common. A good example of this is Annihilape.
I dont have elite fast tm for sandslash, is it very necessary
For this fossil cup, and for most of the time in Great League, Shadow Claw is better than Powder Snow for coverage. I would say it not *necessary* but will help you a lot more to have it.

For any Pokemon it's about just catching the ones you find until they have the good IVs you are looking for😊
@@XehrFelrose used to play while back, cut down now bsck and have got into 21, been able to get some decent iv ones but would my 13 14 15 Jellicent be able to cut it level 23 upwards? Also, thanks for replying
@@b27969 My advice here especially for Ultra and Master, since most of the builds are XL, just keep hunting and trading until you get a high rank one. Since they are so expensive you just want to build it once. My Jelli is similar to yours and should work fine, but I would wait to build things until you really really need them or want to power up a high ranked one.
