  • Members of the Oakley Union Elementary School District Board of Trustees in California thought they were speaking privately during an online video meeting Wednesday but later found out the public could hear and see them making disparaging comments about parents. The candid discussion sparked outrage among parents, who started a petition calling for board members to step down. By Friday night, every member of the school board resigned. NBC’s Kathy Park reports for Weekend TODAY.

Yep. Here in Texas our politicians take us for granted since we always vote red no matter how bad the candidate is. Texas is run on 80% oil and natural gas. That 80% failed in basic winter weather. Frozen gas pipelines, frozen equipment. The reason? Texas Republicans deregulated their power grid (ERCOT) and disconnected it from the national power grids (eastern and western interconnect). The GOP failed to upgrade their grid for severe weather. This failure happened twice before in 1986 and 2011. BOTH times the GOP FAILED to FIX IT.

I did not see anything wrong with the zoom call. The problem is some of the parents DO use school as a form of daycare. Some parents have the thought process of from 7:30am to 5:30pm my kid is your problem not mine. I know there are students who go to school to be in a safe environment and some are at school for the breakfast and lunch meals. The district also needs to take in consideration how the teachers feel about going back to in person learning. The parents will ALWAYS want their kid out of the house and at school.

Because people are a bunch of sissies. A lot of parents did want kids back in school so they don’t have to watch their kids during the day and they didn’t like being called out like that. Everyone wants fakeness; fake Instagram photos, fake apologies, fake nice speeches....it’s wild. These teachers just voiced their opinions, clearly they didn’t feel safe having kids back and they thought it was a private convo. Those fruitcakes who said they were “appalled” at what was said must be SAINTS then who never said anything in private convos that they would be embarrassed if the entire world heard. Remember Senator Bill Frisk from TN. He did his 2 terms and was highly effective (Senate Majority Leader) and then went back to his private life. What a template for the way things were done when the Constitution was written. Now we have far too many professional politicians who work for the party and not the people. The political machine keeps them in office. Perhaps you like it that way.

That's the struggle with today. As someone who works at a school, I am always conflicted.
I have parents who Don't work who drop off their kids at 7am when we open, and pick up their kids right before 6pm when we close. Some parents just don't want to spend too much time at home with their kids because they don't know how to teach or handle their own kids. and if you don't think children will lick their hands and chase each other yelling "coronavirus!" then you have not worked with children. We opened our schools in august last year and let me tell you we had a large number of parents with those very energetic children who just couldn't take it anymore and were like "here just take my child!" . Even after 6 months of reopened i am STILL reminding kids TODAY to wash their hands and keep their distance because they still want to hangout with their friends!!! a large class is hard to manage and some parents are not aware of the struggle educators have to face everyday. while the parents go out and enjoy themselves, I know cause kids are very uncensored and they tell us almost everything that goes on at home!. Yes the educators here shouldn't have done that but also parents shouldn't assume the entire school district is like that. I have a coworker who was not too fond with reopening fast because of the pandemic and the risk with that is the Parents could get the virus and give to the kids, now here comes this infected kid and infecting the other classmates. We had at least 6 different cases in my school because some parents ended up infecting their children, and then dropping off their kids at school, thus infecting our other children and our teachers, Its seriously a hard issue going on right now, but I am sure some parents talk smack about schools behind closed doors as well, they just haven't been caught, I am sure these parents here are no pure angels themselves. its just a crazy world out here and as someone who works at a school and has two younger sisters that I teach at home I can definitely see both sides of the story. its just turning teachers against parents and vice versa. Bottom line. WE ARE ALL HUMANS LIVING IN A CRAZY WORLD RIGHT NOW. (I am turning off notifications to this post. Good day!)

But we are entitled to think of our own safety as well. As someone with an autoimmune condition I absolutely want to make sure I stay safe. Just because educators are concerned about that doesn’t mean we aren’t “doing our job.” And it can be frustrating dealing with people saying things like that or assuming that being online is a vacation for us. But these teachers have been at home doing half the amount of teaching for the same amount of money for almost a year now. And they HATE the parents. They want to be unchecked, unquestioned, and push whatever agenda they personally hold without consequence, and they HATE the average everyday citizen that pays their salary.

I don't understand why you say they want babysitters back. School has always been open, always. The teachers went to college to be teachers, they went to in class college now they are the ones that want to sit at home and teach. They don't have to go to work. Parents have to work to survive. What's wrong with people giving them a hard time when all they want to do is work to pay the bills and more importantly the kids need to go to school and be around friends. I couldn't imagine being on a computer my whole school life. Nobody thinks about the children.
