I am simply amazed by those lawyers who, knowing their client is dangerous to society, defend him for money against all moral principles!
Because lawyer's are BOTTOM FEEDERS .....how the sleep at night is beyond me.....!!

This is a very great Lifetime movie. That was actually based on a true story. It is very sad though but she fight and she kept him behind bars where he belonged. People like this man is absolutely no good for society.
What's weird is the actual crime occurred in 1971 - not the 80's as depicted in the film.

The grandma freaking out was heartbreaking to watch i cant imagine what they went through.
I've had people come tapping on my car window in parking lots quite a few times over the years. There's no reason for a man to approach women for help when there's any kind of business open right there and he's standing in front of it.
I used to just crack the window enough to ask what they need. I don't even do that any more for many years now. Smile, wave, point to the nearest building they are standing right in front of, and drive away.
i've driven off with them still banging on the window and chasing the car.
That said - there are countless ways to be taken by surprise and someone just seems decent and needs help. It's a very scary world out there. Could happen to any of us.
Better safe than sorry. I wouldn’t open the window either. I’d probably yell through it that I’m calling the police to come help them. 🤣🤣

I woke up to hear him banging on the door and yelling help me, help me! And I had no clue what was going on, but figured it sounded bad either for him or for me.
I grabbed the phone so I'd be ready to call, and asked him what he needed. He told me to let him in.
What is someone like that even thinking? 😂
I told him I'm calling the police to come help him. He kept banging on the door and said, "Don't do that Ma'am. Let me in."
I told him the police are on their way to help him.

Then phone cops to check the area where they were approached.

I agree! This crime occurred in 1971 - not the 80's as depicted in the film - so they didn't do things like that back then. At least now, they can admit a victim under a different name, so they won't even show up in hospital records if someone looked them up.

This happened in my hometown when I was a little girl. He was a student at UAB, a blossoming serial killer caught just in time. The face he was paroled is disgusting.
NEVER EVER GET INTO THE CAR!! FIGHT LIKE CRAZY, ONCE YOU ARE IN THE CAR THERE IS LEST CHANCE OF SURVIVAL.
Unfortunately, they were already in the car. Granted, they got out and got back in with this case, but I agree... normally don't get in the car...even if they have a gun pointed at you. If they try to shoot you, it will bring attention to them. If they have a knife, you may get injured trying to get away, but that's better than anything else that could happen to you.
The thing that's weird is that neither of them tried to get away in this case to get help. I guess they were afraid to leave each other alone with the guy, but IMO, they should have. I think the one left alone would have understood.

Parole should never be given to anyone who has never exhibited a great amount of remorse or proof of such. This criminal's escaping was bad enough but when he was caught, he greatly resisted arrest. I'm also certain that correction officers and inmates who dealt with him could see he was still dangerous. Parole boards need to get back to the business of keeping criminals who continue to act as criminals behind bars. True justice calls for considering how victims/victim family members feel about the crime committed against them/their loved ones. Yes, laws properly made can be used to consider whether a person gets paroled, but let the crime victims/family members also have their say in the process.

I have been the victim of violent crimes and I only got compensation for one for loss of my personal property but not for him trying to kill me with a knife and another incident that happened to me was that I was raped by a guy that seduced me and the cops blamed me because I had invited him in to my apartment and they said I asked for it...who the hell asks to get raped??????? The most recent incident that happened to me was a well known drug dealer/pusher in this town beat the living shit out of me and the States Attorney to this day has not pursued my case! Fucking weak justice system here, where are MY RIGHTS?
I hope you filed a complaint again those officers too. I would have sued them. They ignored a crime. In fact I’m not going to lie, I’d be pretty upset if you didn’t because it allows them to treat another victim like that. They sound like potential rapist themselves with that attitude. I hope that rapist was punished for his crime. Of course no woman asks to be violently violated. And men wonder why women look at all of them as a potential rapist. the judicial system doesn't protect the victims. It has always protected the criminals. And Today more than ever in our country's history victims have no voice. Criminals run free to commit more atrocities. It is extremely sad. We need to pray every day that our family do not fall prey to these criminals because the law will not stand by you.

Man made laws are always fall short of justice in true sense. In Islam it's the victim who decides whether to forgive or not the death penalty.
I wouldn't want the weight of responsibility. I also think this approach doesn't rely on solid facts, and in some cases just mitigation, but on the personal outlook of the victim. This isn't an attitude of justice.

The part when he called the hospital to get info if Nancy was alive and the receptionist practically gave him an yes 🤬🤦🏽♂️ pissed me off and the justice system was totally trash letting him off when they knew he was gonna continue killing
I was shocked too about the hospital but remembered this was 1971 and things were more lax then. This is why we have Hipaa today, because of crap like that.
a brilliant actor who played a criminal. He more than managed to convey the character of his hero and all this horror on the screen. I have never seen anything more terrible before. Thank you for this film.

It's easy to judge from the couch
I know it's easy to sit back and say, " they should have done this or that." But I remember a police detective telling a group of women not to ever let yourself get moved to a second location. If you do, you've lost all the power you'll ever have. Maybe the driver should have started the car and taken off. The guy was outside the car. They could have gotten away. Just a tip from a detective
That detective can do all the talking he wants to act tough. Women don't have the power to overtake a guy. These two women were trying to protect the other one from being killed. So they obeyed.

Never, never put the car window down for a stranger. At most, crack it just enough to hear through. Better yet, just drive away. I've learned over the years to always lock up and start the car as soon as I get in.
At least have the key in the ignition if sitting in the car waiting for somebody.
Their best chance at escaping was when he drove back to town. When someone's driving with two people in the front seat, even armed with a knife, they could had caused him to wreck his car. The alternative, complying, was a fatal mistake anyways. You are extremely vulnerable when driving.

Always be aware of your surroundings. Don't ever walk through a parking lot or garage talking or texting on a cell phone. You make yourself an easy target! It doesn't matter who you're talking to they can't do a damn thing to help you
If the actress who played Charlotte, the cousin of Nancy really was acting like the real person acted in real life, I can't even take up for her. She had it coming and got what she deserved!!
I used to be naive and $+upid!! Growing in a country rural area all my life. Then I had to move to Columbus Ohio in 2013. A complete cultural shock. I met this guy who treated me like sh1t but saved my life at the same time. He showed me how to act, what to look for, how to look, how to act, how to talk, how not to talk
If I hadn't have met him. Somebody would have ki||Ed me. I always made sure to have my doors locked and windows up. Driving with windows down will get you in trouble too. I had more than I can count try to get me to roll down the window or open the door. I also had 2 different people, groups, whatever grab my back door at night and try to open it of a night after 11 pm. Once at a red light and once at stop sign. I took off. I'm pretty sure I drug the first one but I kept going

I think that laws against attempted murder need reworking. If a victim should have died in the hands of a person intent on killing them, they should be prosecuted for murder. If it was only a question of luck and/or health care that they lived, that shouldn't see the crime reduced.

The poor woman's cousin was murdered and the klller thought she also died.Miraculously she survived and was healing in the hospital. The killer was still on the run. How in the world did anyone think of leaving her alone in the hospital?She had four members of her family who could have taken turns keeping a watch on her.The stupid police also should have guessed that the deranged man would come looking for her once he knew she was still alive and should have placed a gaurd at the door. Also nurses could have kept a watch on her constantly. Then the sick SOB would not have made the murder attempt at the hospital.At that time this was just common sense.

I would just like to say... two women against one man... there where many opportunities they could have fought back. For instance, when sitting in the car while he was driving, why didn't Nancy elbow him in the head or throat. They could have fought harder and attacked him and gotten away. The could have screamed in the parking lot when he first accosted them. There was a guy right there. All a little bit pathetic. Fight back women!
There's a discrepancy somehow in the dates of the crime: the Justia US Law website says the attack occurred on September 4 1971.
Sometimes they change those things to protect victims or make it more modern with no date given at all.
