Thank you for taking the time to upload a very good review of our "Shift Your Rifts" Event. 😍 Yes, the safety briefing... having been in the Sport for many years (1994 my first Game) I have played many Sites and witnessed many things over the years... 😳 Regardless of player numbers my main focus is Player SAFETY. It is my duty to ensure that everyone is not only having a good time, they are also in a Safe (or as Safe as can be!) environment. One thing I always wanted to do was to give everyone as much information as I can to ensure that players are on the same page and have the best experience possible. For the most part, it works well, however, that can also come at a cost for some who lose interest and (as you said) fall asleep! 🤔 Like everything in life - there is a balance - I will address that for next Year. Our SYR Briefing was extra long as we had other things to mention as there was a fair bit going on and I know people do NOT read the double sided rule sheet I had printed... I just wanted to verballing explain to help the day flow, etc. The trade off was "all day airsoft" with a break to reset props and reset spawns (so you get to play the other side of the land) Regarding the repeat briefing on Sunday; 2 reasons we call everyone forward is that our Insurance asks us to Brief Players for each day they play AND I can address any issues or changes from the Saturday... Everyone was handed a Menu that had Food Prices and Catering Times printed on it, however, the A4 double sided print didn't list Briefing start time (apologies) TL;DR The Briefing will be cut back to essential Safety and Game Rules for next Year; A time chart will be included on the info sheet & any info removed from the Morning Briefing. I will push more info the the Booking Page with the "hope" everyone reads it 🤨😆 so I don't have to explain as much in the morning. As for the second Sunday Brief; I will look into that to see if there is a workaround (as long as I am covered by my Insurance Company) With SO many moving parts, there was a LOT that could have gone wrong but we had a fantastic bunch of players and Marshals that made it a really good weekend! Everyone returned home with all thier vital parts remaining! 😅Glad you were a part of this Event and I hope you had a good time. Maybe see you next Year? (or sooner as we Skirmish there every 2 weeks!) Best wishes, and a HUGE thanks to EVERYONE who plays at Rift 🧡 Tony ~ R.I.F.T. Airsoft 😎
Damn Camman I’ve only just seen your extra channel and this is awesome! Really helps people with that “airsoft anxiety” of what to expect. Amazing content dude!
Definitely good to hear about the events you go to, the good the bad and the ugly of them, it's always good to know for people who may not know about the event or who are looking at going
The Scorpion is an Armoured reconnaissance Vehicle. Here’s an absolute side story for you… I remember being about 10 years old and on a shopping trip with my mum and aunt to a local town. The army had a demo on with two scorpions and a bunch of lads standing around. I was about 4 foot tall dressed head to toe in DPM with a little kids beret on. They loved it when I turned up. My mum left me there with them while she went shopping and I had the best day ever playing in a “tank” all day.
good event, long... lovely and warm. even some reds were annoyed at the lack of red. made action a lot more difficult. mostly top gunner in the red convoys. luckily missed the day two brief due to temporary weapon malfunction.
I went to WZs' event earlier this year at WZ Apocolypse and it was pretty close to this. The playin field was abit dodgy cuz one of the spawns was at the bottom of a hill, but it was still really fun. Only big event Ive been to
Great review - YEP Sadly I have had to encounter Milton Keynes several times (once to buy my car tralelled up on train). It known as 'roundabut city' and is truly confusing. I was based in Oxfordshire for 7 years AND bought a house near Abingdon years ago when I was married - but never knew of this airsoft site. That briefing sounds extreme and I think (like others) I would have been off with the leprachauns zonked out thats like a military ops briefing, it did seem excessive.😮 The organisation sounds quite good but like you say PUBLISHED times for actions would be better.👍
Hey Camman! Could you do a loadout video? Especially for how you would run HPA gear with a ghillie suit, and how you craft your goggles and face protection. If you could do that, that would be awesome. Cheers
Good review of the event mate. I agree with your observations, especially about how the players who were there for the whole weekend should not have to go through another 50 min briefing on the second day. A schedule of timing is an easy one and would make a big difference. Nicely done! I see I also made an appearance falling down in that field! Could have been an ankle snapper that one! 🤙🏽
I had a great time but I agree was a bit rushed to figure everything out timing wise. It was written on their website I think? But not given on the day. We were there all weekend (got a pic with you and Silly) but even though we had the first briefing on Saturday we were about 5 mins late to the second briefing on Sunday and they refused us entry and said we can’t play. Despite paying full weekend price. We argued and went to another Marshall who said we could just join the rest of the briefing and got them to unlock the game area and let us in. Still had about 45 min briefing lol that was my only gripe
Hi if your going to the national airsoft festival this year could you do a video of things you'd need to take and know about if it's your first time there please
Liking Tony’s response to the feedback - really professional. I’ve always wanted to do a Weekender-type event but I’m put off by how the NAF seems to have developed over the years. Personally I’d want something which is more airsoft-focused, so I’m going to make an effort to get to SYR next year!
I’ve been 4 times to NAF first was 2011 and that was when it was in its prime. Enough players to make it fun but not to the point where there’s hundreds of players stacked on a corner. Sometimes you could go hours without seeing a player. Now it’s 3500 players and like you say not made it as airsoft oriented
have seen a few of these patches being worn during my many visits to redcon and comms 3, but i am yet to find where to get one of my own. were they made by anyone as a batch, or are they all individual custom orders? would love to have one myself, as i have definately survived a few of tonys briefings XD
Hi Gary, love the videos. Very genuine question and absolutely no criticism at all, just interested to know. You have a lot of drone footage in this video, I also film my airsoft but have avoided the rone at Abingdon because my understanding is that the airfield is still active, therefore drones are not permitted. Did you have any issues or have to seek special permissions for the airspace. I would like to use my drone there as it's such a big site.
There is a small amount of footage that belongs to me flying outside of the FRZ boundary of Dalton Barracks. The rest of the footage is by @dnawemedia, who I understand had permission to fly in boundary.
The Rift Briefings are broken down into 3 segments: Welcome and Agenda for the day; Safety and Safe Zone Rules; Game Rules (inc Medic rule is used) followed by Game Scenario Rules. If you think they are REDICULOUS when you hear them, imagine being the one who has to stand there and SAY it! 😛 Trust me, I wish we didn't have to BUT it is so imprtant for Saftey and Gameplay. I've played Sites that have had a short Briefing and then witnessed SO MANY issues regarding Safety and Gameplay... ruins the day because nothing was mentioned in the Morning Briefing! There is a balance - we will work harder to cut it back where we can without impacting Safety, etc... 👍😊
50 min briefing 😮. That's definitely to much. Most of the players probably remember only some small percentage of all this information passed specially new to the site. Long brief doesn't mean safe, good play etc. at all, it does opposite factor.
I'm the guy that was helping the marshal with the revolvers 😅 you didn't get my good side did you 😂 Honestly didn't know it was you and silly ghillie, you're both great guys and loved chatting 👍

Thank you
One thing you could do is have people sign something acknowledging that they have heard the breifing and don't need to hear it again.
The regulars actually had some patches made that say “I survived Tony’s briefing”
😂 Excellent
last i saw, there is some sold in the site shop, not sure if the webstore does too, tony is thorough.
1:46 ah the classic Tactical Maid.

Well done man. Great honest insight
I was thinking Anzio when you said about a long briefing I think when we went it was 45 minutes .

Love your videos. I'm in the UK for the summer, where can I play airsoft game?
Nice presentation Cam!!

Looks like it was a pretty fun event. The field is a good size.

Nice review and a fair representation of the event 👌🏼!

"ive never had a briefing like this" cuts to advert, yeah me neither buddy me neither
Hey Camman, looks like you use a 13cl bottle with your rifle. Would you say it lasts you the full day in general? Cheers
Lasts with my SSG10 all day easy.
7 seconds in and you got me hahaha

Oh hello saw myself at 7:56😂
10:00 ahahah
Mk definitely enjoys a roundabout 😂😂😂😂
note to self Milton Keynes = lots of roundabouts AVOID!
50 minute briefing! Christ on a bike
does this guy have a second channel becouse it seems that he should have more subs?
Pre drinks for NAF
Honestly the rift briefings are RIDICULOUS. They go on forever! They just bore the life out of everyone and nobody listens.

Nothing wrong with MK! We like drifting cars so you need roundabouts. Hey could have been worse if it was Luton you would need real guns...
And Americans say we have no culture
