@@Maurice_Moss He doesn't need to drive one to come to that conclusion. He just needs to look at the dimensions and available space... Also other specs, like noise in cabin at certain speeds.
@@JohnyMcNeal harry Metcalf reviewed one, and he said it was brilliant. Loads of space as it has 2 boots, quiet, good ground clearance, and very comfortable.
It really isn’t though Mclaren rides better and has more comfortable seats and it gets 30mpg
I guess I’m predisposed to the widely accepted definition of a G.T. generally being a 2 door coupe derivative of a luxury saloon - front engined, rear drive, 2+2. But hey, happy to be steered by the majority.......even if that majority is wrong! 😁
considering the price points should be the W12 vs the McLaren

For a GT car, i would take the Bentley without a second thought even if the McLaren has got over 1000 bhp..
Aby Mathew: Yep I’m with you. With money brings “stuff”. The “accoutrements” of monied living.
The Bentley can carry the baggage of modern wealth and would be my choice. The McLaren is more of a frippery and as such is bought by a higher level of wealth than the Bentley. The McLaren is truly a garage queen and would be bought out when needed to impress or massage a slightly deflated ego.
Thus the Bentley is the chosen daily driver.
For my chauffeur of course!

@@harrington41 nothing to do with it. They choose to do only rwd. Makes the car lighter. But to get a less powerfull version of the bentley continental GT is just unfair.
someone from the Netherlands nothing to do with it? What you are saying would be valid in the dry but this video was shot in the wet.... where traction is limited and awd has a massive advantage. Take that away and the Bentley would of just been beaten more badly... the Bentley is bigger and heavier and won’t turn as well and is SLOWER. In the dry it wouldn’t of even been a race

Bentley is still the crowned King of the GT class, it literally defines what a GT car should be.
Everyone seems to be singing from the same hymn sheet. But everyone seems to be forgetting the McLaren just has a GT name. It's a supercar. A GT car is able to do nearly every day to day thing well or exceedingly. In the McLaren, can you have a massage while hooning down the autobarn, with minimal road noise. And I'm a fan of McLaren. Just give Bentley their title and give McLaren their participation trophy.

Most supercar companies have produced models that caught fire. I'm a Ferrari fan. And I remembered there were numerous cases where the 458 Italia caught fire. Ferrari had to make a recall to address the problem.

Amarjit Singh considering the price difference it should have been a w12 engine as the mclaren is about 165k and the Bentley with a w12 is about 160k I’m not sure

I'd take the Bentley any day (if I could afford). You just need to do a quick Google to know that all Mclarens are plagued with issues and spend more time in the garage than the owner's drive.

TriHard Cx lol no it wouldn’t dumbass. This continental only had 540hp v8 compared to the 610 in the mclaren and it was only 0.2 seconds apart with one another. The w12 continental has 635hp with way more torque and has 4wd. It would destroy the mclaren.
@@ssd3748 dude the v8 is around 630 kilos heavier than the mclaren.. the W12 would be even heavier.. the only reason you saw the bentley ahead off the line is bcz its wet and it has awd.. if it was dry and u have someone with a good reaction at the steering wheel.. the mclaren would get ahead all the way.. even with the W12 version

I do love that Bentley! Especially with a w12, however that wouldn't have been as evenly matched I guess...
McLaren really should have paid that few extra quid for the steering wheel to match... aside from that it's a pretty machine.
Rory Reid, Chris Harris and Mat Watson would have made an awesome trio on Top Gear. They would have revived the jocular chemistry and quick-witted journalism that is sorely missing from the current line-up.

I have both cars, but Bentley is w12, they are all amazing cars, all got their own very special parts.
I notice the Bentley has got winter tyres on it and it is obviously winter and the tarmac is wet also, so giving the four wheel drive car the edge again, you should really re-run that drag race in the summer on a dry track with both cars on summer tyres, it would be fairer.

For an old man who has owned a lotus esprit and a Ferrari Testarossa. Who now lives with an occasionally driven first gen Bent GT. The GT is the best overall comprise. Just so damn complex and expensive to repair.
Bentley is luxury and CONFORT (what you actually want in a grand tourer)
Mclaren GT doesn't even know what it is.. It's much more of a sports car than grand tourer.. The seats are super uncomfortable after an hour driving

The mark of a true GT car is that it is comfortable and gives effortless speed over a long journey. whether you are cruising on a motorway or stuck in town traffic a GT car should always be a pleasant car to drive. That us what you should be judging this on, not a drag race.
What about the rolling race and the brake test? Did you guys skip it?
I believe the aerodynamics of the Mclauren & power is what caused the sudden turn over
If you enjoy a more focused drive experience it’s the McLaren , it’s a different take on a GT car.
It’s aimed at a costumer who wants the feel feed back of a more focused driving experience, but doesn’t want the full on super experience, the Bentley is less driver focused experience, in terms of feed back etc it really depends what suits you more , there’s no wrong or write.
Driven owned both cars, currently on a McLaren , which has been trouble free , just incredible to drive 👍

The Mac was lined up on the slick tarmac join. In the real world bentley quicker off the lights in the wet however in the dry? What about a rolling start?
mclaren is just a race car with a GT suit on. The bentley is a proper GT. The way it shot off the line shows just how much torque that engine in the bentley makes, whereas the mclaren needs to rev like crazy (which for a GT car is not a strong point) to deliver.
Wow shows how that Big Bentley Coupe can surprise people from the start. But the McLaren finished hard in the end.
I would go for the Bentley alot more comfortable and ideal for everyday use.
Closer than I thought, due to the wet conditions.
Next, pair cars which are pretty close in power, weight, and purpose, such as Bentley vs Aston, or McLaren vs another supercar pretending to be a GT, like the MB AMG GT.

With dry conditions I don’t think it would be as close. The McLaren is just so much lighter. The weight of the Bentley I’d think actually help of the lie with its AWD.

Continental is more luxurious, better looking, more comfortable to be in and more than enough fast and agile for long road trips.
It is also made by WV so it will not brake every few days like the McLaren.
You should have used the w12 Continental gt. It has similar power to the McLaren and similar price

It should be the V12 in the Bentley but in reality, a V8 is enough to win each traffic light race against a not so luxurious stripped out GT. That`s impressive!

I believe the road was slippery 'n that's why McLaren shows modest start, while Bentley depends on the 4-wheel drive that shows the difference !

My experience from Carwow, McLaren probably has one of the worst lunches after BMW, but it has amazing acceleration
