    You are a very impressive person, not only are you good in electronics but I am sure a good pilot, I am a pilot as well but am now grounded due to a stroke, I love electronics and also build and design kits, I live in a nursing home, however, in a pvt room where I have my electronics set up, This nursing home alows me do do this and very thankful for people like you that share your knowledge with the world.. Go luck and stay in electronics....):

    Just finished building one of these kits. Definitely recommended for beginners. I love radio so this was a fun build. Your tip about taping the contacts for the buttons is the way to go. I tried the hot glue method first but not great so went for your option! Having said that the glue was fine to retain the speaker!

      +gartmorn I'm glad you enjoyed the kit. I did too. I just wish they explained how to align the receiver in the instructions.

    Excellent - it works-! That one looks like a real hair puller in some areas. I still have an old radio shack strobe light kit I built
    in the 70's, still works to this day - guaranteed to trigger epileptic fits, at least thats the warning in the manual-really-!

    This is my 4th time watching this video, you are so impressive at what you do, I have built the Tecsun 2P3 radio kit and it works well.
    Have a good day....):

    Probly the best radio you ever had. I have many ten tec kits and to add kanga , with some knight kits. The labour makes the difference. In pride.

    Thank you so much for the video, it was a great help and gave me the confidence to try it myself, the high quality video was very useful. Great job

    I bought this months ago. It lay there gathering dust. A few days ago I was really stuck writing some software. I thought phuck-it, let's have some fun building that radio. Every problem you had, guess what, so did I. The buttons? I thought they are having a laugh. I bodged it with tape. The battery connectors were a tad tight , same for you. I came here wondering how you got on and nearly pissed myself laughing when I saw you having the same problems. I thoroughly enjoyed the break it gave me. I have a couple of kits from Banggood still to build. The hardest part of building them is the horrible transparent cases. I would definitely recommend this kit, it really was fun. Thanks for the upload. 😁

    For the speaker I take a hot iorn /or cut thin double sticky tape /and push plastic up to speaker

  • @stephenwilliams5201
    @stephenwilliams5201 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    For tight fitting I take a needle file and shave the studs thinner. Pops right in the first time.

    Thanks for your video. I'll be building mine either tonight or tomorrow.
    I dont think I would of been able to do it with the Chinese instructions alone. So thanks for that.

    Its amazing how universal the PITA level is with this thing. I used kapton tape for the :"clickers" but it didn't work because the board was damaged from the 22 times I tried to solder them

  • @DollarbillDollarbill

    When reading small things on boards wallwarts and parts there are several free apps for magnification you can install on your phone. Some of them work very well .I have an old phone I use to solder on small parts that's fixed to my workbench. Yes the proper way is better if you have a microscope...Ty for the video's

    notice your soldering iron tip is blunted you favor that over a pointed tip?

    I built the type 2 version of this radio and while the radio works, it doesn't display the tuning frequency. I have another sat waiting to build, so maybe I'll have better luck next time.

    Just curious. What is your Celsius temperature setting for your Soldering station?

    • @learnelectronics

      350

    • @KRAFTWERK2K6
      @KRAFTWERK2K6 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@learnelectronics thank you :] Was wondering why your solder flows so easily. I have mine usually between 200-250°C. Is that really too low for leadfree solder?

    • @learnelectronics
      @learnelectronics  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't have any experience with lead-free. But I will tell you components will handle higher temps for short periods, whereas lower temps over long periods with burn them up.

    • @KRAFTWERK2K6
      @KRAFTWERK2K6 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@learnelectronics Yeah that's why i was wondering what your soldering temp was Since i try my best to keep the solder times as short as possible. Especially when i solder diodes who have a lot smaller tolerance to high temperatures than other components. I don't even solder batteries onto anything since i'm constantly in fear it would explode.

    Aren't those buttons fun! I bought one of those from EBay about a year ago. Good soldering practice! ;-)

      Robert Gibbons ugh, the buttons... But the kit was good fun. I'm not an RF guy so I enjoyed learning how to adjust the LC circuit.

  • @gartmorn

    I love radios but haven't seen this one. Do I really need another? Maybe! I have a few different radio kits already I need to build! One is the banggood air band radio which sounds interesting but I'm not sure about the best antenna. I built the dso oscilloscope the other day and it seems good and works a treat so hopefully it'll prove useful to get me started. Must build your recent wave generatingcircuit to fire some waveforms at it and check it out. Any advice on grounds and oscilloscopes as I know there can be an issue in some circuits?

    • @learnelectronics
      @learnelectronics  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      gartmorn You will be A-ok with DSO 138. The grounding problems comes from having your device under test referenced to mains and your scope referenced to mains.
      With the 138 you are on battery power, so no worries.
      I can't help you with an antenna for your air band radio...RF stuff is foreign to me.

    I have bad experiences with this kit radio poor quality parts, don't waste your time and money, the sound isn't as a line radio, I have similar radios with a perfect a clear sound.

  • @William51115

    Thanks for the video but I think this is stupid. This kit is so simple a small child could do it. It's the same price as a built one.

    • @klafong1
      @klafong1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The era in which kits were cheaper than fully-assembled products ended around the early 1960s, when the industry went to printed circuit boards.

      Well, that's exactly what we did with the two HX-6B kits that I bought. Steph (9 years old) built hers last night, and Jonny's (7 years old) is on deck to do his today. It's perfect for kids.
