Miguel R Solans Anette can actually control and sustain raspy notes with a healthy technique.That's how she managed to sings these verses she knows how to add raspiness,without straining her voice.She even sustained a great raspy high note in her cover of "Play Dead" back in 2015!I really wish she used this technique more often its great!
One of the very few songs that no other singer can sing as good as Anette. It fits her voice and vocal range perfectly and I'm saying that as a Floor stun who thinks Floor is the ultimate icon who can slay all the songs from all 3 Nightwish eras. This one noone can do it as good as Anette.
Anette is awesome, so is Tarja, and so is Floor. They're all extremely good at what they do in my opinion (Although i think Floor is my favorite). Let's not forget that they created one of their most successful albums with Anette and it wouldn't have been the same without her. Some people are just overly dramatic.
Exactly. I won't hear a bad word said about Anette, purely because Imaginaerum remains one of my favourite albums of all time. I think if people saw Anette as Anette rather than "not Tarja", she'd be much more highly appreciated.
Sorry but I do not like Anette's voice in any song; She's very out of tune, she sounds like a karaoke singer. In the studio they were able to get a feel for her voice and obviously one of the best selling albums of Nightwish is thanks to the compositions of Tuomas, and not by the voice of Anette

Definitely. I love Floor and think NW's future is really bright with her, but both Anette and Tarja have their signature songs that no-one else should ever try to perform, and this is one of Anette's.

Out of all the songs Nightwish can perform live with Floor, this is the only one I want to hear Anette sing. She captured this song so well with vocals. Shame things didn't work out, but the train that is Nightwish must go on :P

Alisson Bryan I don't think so! Imaginearum was written for Annette's voice and that album would never had existed with floor in the band. Floors great but her interpretation of the songs are shocking. She hasn't the right voice for them. However, I like her version of tarijas songs.

Annette has a way of expressing Tuomas’ lyrics and giving them the meaning they have. She brings them to life in a way that very very few singers can. I don’t know what it is, but it’s a gift. She makes you live them as you listen to the songs she sings. Edit: Marko has this gift too

there's nothing especially good with Anette's vocals here, she just takes a witchy cartoony voice. Anette fans can keep this, I guess, and I'll take Floor's actual singing abilities blowing Anette (and even Tarja's sometimes) out of the water :)

THIS is my favorite song of the album. I can't count how many times this song has been on repeat on my ipod or how many time the first minute played and i was standing outside under the soft snow falling and for a minute it was peaceful and dreamy
You can clearly see that Jukka puts 100% of him into those drums. I wanna see him back in NW ASAP! Not that Kai Hato is bad, it is just way better and more enjoyable to see Jukka play.

I saw them twice within a week, in Oulu and in Tampere. I still can't put my feelings into words. Seeing them live after over 2 ½ years was such a blast. I love this band, this song, this album, their whole dicography, Anette... I'm in great debt to Nightwish and I think I can never pay it back.
As a lifelong NW fan, there's something that bothers me in the fandom's insanity. To be frank, I'm quite pissed off about these voice battles but, even if the first two are the ones that accompanied me throughout, respectively, childhood and adolescence, I am objective enough to recognize that Floor is the most skilled performer among the three, and surely the one with the most powerful voice. BUT this only applies generally speaking! What I mean is, if we make all the 3 sing the same, non-NW song (let's say "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica or "Heaven's a Lie" by Lacuna Coil, whatever), Floor is MOST LIKELY to provide the best act... But that doesn't fucking mean that she can sing every single NW song better then the other two. Her background allows her to be more than decent on Tarja's songs, at which she often excel and sometimes even outdoes her. But she cannot possibly be better than Anette at singing Imaginaerum, the one and only album explicitly designed for her by Tuomas, it is OBVIOUS. It's like fucking Serj Tankian trying to sing something by The Platters: although he's an absolute legend, he cannot just be perfect in everything. So is for Floor! Guys, all of you who claim that her versions of Imaginaerum songs are better, please look for Slow Love Slow... and let me know what you think about it. I find it rather mediocre. Floor is an incredibly talented singer and I absolutely love her (especially her amazing Ghost Love Score) but PLEASE, be rational.
+XavisioBluttemberg Anette just has a completely different style. I find her greatest asset to be versatility. Her voice has no particular tone to it, meaning she can sing literally anything. Plus, I like the fact that she feels like another instrument, rather than singing OVER them (which I think was Tarja's habit). Floor is trying to blend it but I believe she lacks the capacity to be in awe in front of music. Rather than owning her songs, I think she should think of herself as a mere instrument, just like Anette seems to.
Imaginaerum is and will definitely be Anette's album and this song particularly! It is really suited for her. Also my favourite album so far, but I also love some of Tarja's songs. Yeah, Anette couldn't do Tarja's songs, and that's why many Nightwish fans and listeners are so thrilled about Floor, but there are songs or entire albums where the style of the singer is all that matters, not just the vocal skills. I'm looking forward to listening to new (original) songs from Nightwish performed by Floor, to bring a new style.
The new material really suits Anette's voice. I really wish they'd refrain from singing the old stuff for which she doesn't have the range. It doesn't do her, or the band, any justice. Absolutely love this performance!! Can't wait for the movie!

I love how anette sings. she may not be the best choice for tarja's songs but she is fantastic on her own songs. and it's funny how people keep praising floor jansen like she's a godsent but up until now Tuomas haven't been able to release an album with songs that fit her voice and the only new song he made involves a completely different singer (which is A Lifetime Of Adventure.) =)
She OWNS the song. The only version I deeply love to the bone. But just at the peak, it stopped. At least I can name my favourite albums from nightwish in every era: oceanborn and once, imaginarium, and endless... I am glad I follow the band and not the singer, even if I am damn forced to adjust to the changes every (damn) time. In my opinion Anette's shows were the ones I enjoyed the most with the singer attitude, find her quite charismatic. On the other side, Floor's power and aggressive stage presence is delicious also...
I love all of the singers, and I think, as long as the rest of Nightwish stays together, it doesn't matter who sings. This is my opinion, please no negative responses! I just 3 Nightwish!

+XavisioBluttemberg Anette just has a completely different style. I find her greatest asset to be versatility. Her voice has no particular tone to it, meaning she can sing literally anything. Plus, I like the fact that she feels like another instrument, rather than singing OVER them (which I think was Tarja's habit). Floor is trying to blend it but I believe she lacks the capacity to be in awe in front of music. Rather than owning her songs, I think she should think of herself as a mere instrument, just like Anette seems to.

Storytime is the exception, it's better with Floor. But I get what you say, and agree with almost everything.

Imaginaerum is and will definitely be Anette's album and this song particularly! It is really suited for her. Also my favourite album so far, but I also love some of Tarja's songs. Yeah, Anette couldn't do Tarja's songs, and that's why many Nightwish fans and listeners are so thrilled about Floor, but there are songs or entire albums where the style of the singer is all that matters, not just the vocal skills. I'm looking forward to listening to new (original) songs from Nightwish performed by Floor, to bring a new style.

The new material really suits Anette's voice. I really wish they'd refrain from singing the old stuff for which she doesn't have the range. It doesn't do her, or the band, any justice. Absolutely love this performance!! Can't wait for the movie!

I love this song. I love how anette sings. she may not be the best choice for tarja's songs but she is fantastic on her own songs.
and it's funny how people keep praising floor jansen like she's a godsent but up until now Tuomas haven't been able to release an album with songs that fit her voice and the only new song he made involves a completely different singer (which is A Lifetime Of Adventure.) =)

I am glad I follow the band and not the singer, even if I am damn forced to adjust to the changes every (damn) time. In my opinion Anette's shows were the ones I enjoyed the most with the singer attitude, find her quite charismatic. On the other side, Floor's power and aggressive stage presence is delicious also...
I love all of the singers, and I think, as long as the rest of Nightwish stays together, it doesn't matter who sings. This is my opinion, please no negative responses! I just 3 Nightwish!
Anette owns this just as Tarja owns Wishmaster. I say that as a total Floor fan.
