Oh man! Nostalgia! This reminds me of my first Cyanogen ROM. It was an unofficial build of cm12 for the Samsung Galaxy Light. First ROM I ever flashed.
I have Cyanogenmod 13 on my Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 and 2012 Nexus 7. Both devices run better than the did with stock firmware and continue to get updates! Major props to the developers of Cyanogenmod 🤘
CM13 nightlies are just fine for everyday use. Some minor bugs are present, but quite stable on my moto g 1st gen (using since dec. 2015). Custom ROMs are the only way to have up to date software on old devices, and even more features.
Cyanogen Mod 13 android 6.0.1 on Samsung galaxy s3 is so good. Improved my performance to be like a brand new phone again. I'm very happy with their work.
Few wrong things mentioned: Custom ROMs may also be installed for better battery life, or better performance. The development channel may not be unstable, just has little bugs which probably go on unnoticed.
"Loads of extra features" CM removed a wide variety of useful features that came with stock Android, so you're just lying. Also you just admitted to rooting your device. One strike, you're out.

Thanks to Google dropping support and updates for my Nexus 4 I recently jumped to CyanogenMod 13 based upon Android 6.0.1. So far, it is sweet. I have been exploring the themes (only to land back on stock+Google Now) and some other features. There used to be a simpler way to install CM using an app... then again, it stopped working thanks to Google.

You forgot to mention. A lot of cellphone companies consider rooting or installing Cyanogen onto a device breaking the warranty. So be sure that you have owned the phone at least 1 year before rooting and installing Cyanogen. Asus on their website mentions that it will void the phone warranty if the root folder is accessed. I found this out the hard way, so just be aware. I have a brand spanking new Asus ZenFone I just recently purchased and its not voided from warranty because I rooted and installed Cyanogen into it. Now I have a slight hardware problem that was already there way before I rooted the phone, and ASUS will not carry the warranty because the phone was rooted. and they sent to phone back to me denying me the fix of such hardware that was faulty from manufacturer. - So just be aware........

The narrator is right that "custom firmware" is a more accurate term than custom rom, but another term he used is also very unclear, which is "stock android." The narrator is using the term to refer to the firmware that comes with the device from the manufacturer and carrier, but that is always modified from source code released by Google, and sometimes, such as in the case of the Touchwiz interface used by Samsung, Android is modified quite a bit. If there is any version of android that could be considered "stock" its the verison represented by the source code released by Google, and custom roms, such as Cyanogenmod are often truer to the source code even if they have a lot of modifications put in by the so called rom chef. One of the reasons I like using Cyanogenmod is because I like having a rom that is truly closer to stock then the version of Android installed by the phone's manufacturer.

Nightly builds are automated builds that are auto generated every few weeks but are sufficiently unstable. Full-On Releases are finished and Optimized Builds that are normally better in performance and battery standards than nightlies.
Cyanogenmod is awesome. Currently i hav cm13 marshmallow on my moto g 1st generation.. its nightly bt most of the times runs like a boss.. no issues at all!!
I tried cm12.1 on my Samsung Galaxy s4 i9500. It worked fine, for the most part. But, there were bugs in call screen. Whenever I recieved or made a phone call, the screen would turn off. It would simply not turn back on until the call was over, or, a headphone was connected. I had to use home button to recieve and power button to end call. And activate flash alert fall calls, which is there in cm, as my ring tone won't go off either. Everything else worked fine, for the most part. But I never could use it for a long time, due to that bug. It still remains, at least for the i9500 exynose variant to this day. However, my favorite rom was Resurrection Remix Rom. It's based on cm12 as well. But, two things. 1. Extensive customisation. Even cm dosent come close to Resurrection Remix when it comes to customisation. From New shortcuts, to new animations. Everything that you could possibly want was there 2. Battery life. Amazing. Standby as well as in screen. Just, amazing. I once had two full days of heavy usage with it on my 2013 samsung flagship. However, it also had the same problem. After using it for a few days, there would be some noises in the phone calls. It will gradually increase, until you couldn't hear anything but static on your earpiece. The call screen would turn forever off. And, in addition to that, when you entered the headphone Jack in the socket or removed it during music playing. And even unlocked or relocked screen, the music would pause for a second. None of these errors occurred instantaneously, but after a few days of use. If it weren't for these, I'd had stuck with this Rom forever. However, this won't be fixed, as they have already moved on from lollipop and making a new version of Resurrection Remix for marshmallow based on cm13
I had a Samsung Galaxy S III and let my friend switch to the CM OS. Best decision of my life. From there I had no problems (save a few but due to nightly(which came out daily)). Unfortunately, that phone is long gone (had a hard floor meeting). I now have Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and for some reason they do not really support it. But fear not as I downloaded a CM launcher.
Best Custom rom for nexus devices is Chroma..hands down best stability and performance..for non nexus devices cyanogen and pacman was my favourite..now pacrom isnt available anymore which is sad..then comes blisspop which is good..and stock based roms like dr.ketan rom for samsung flagships..

Fasboot flash individual IMG files along with each partition. The rush you got when you succeeded. lmao
Xiaomi refused to provide a better MIUI for my Mi Pad, which has a pretty good hardware. So I turned to use CM 11...
I too using mi pad it is far better after miui 7 update
Is there a reason why they removed the Gesture Unlock feature?
This video is not helpful. I tried it on my Feb of 2015 bought oneplus one, with cyanogenmod 12.1, and it screwed my device up! Plz help!!!!
What is the difference between a Nightly and a Release?
Nightly builds are automated builds that are auto generated every few weeks but are sufficiently unstable. Full-On Releases are finished and Optimized Builds that are normally better in performance and battery standards than nightlies.
I'm using cm13 official nightly since it released for my phone back in November. It is daily driver worth.
Firmware isn't the right word too as it's the "permanent software programmed into a read-only memory". We should just call it OS.
Everything that you could possibly want was there
Currenty using cm13 in my galaxy s3 and works like a charm
Best Custom rom for nexus devices is Chroma..hands down best stability and performance..for non nexus devices cyanogen and pacman was my favourite..now pacrom isnt available anymore which is sad..then comes blisspop which is good..and stock based roms like dr.ketan rom for samsung flagships..
I'm rockin CM12 on my S3 neo, considering updating to CM13 soon.
Hi, currently I am using a Samsun K zoom. If I install cyanogen mod would that affect the app that controls the camera, I mean would this be like when you reinstall windows where everything is removed and you have to reinstall everything?
I think you might be in the wrong side to ask....
go to reddit?:/
No I am not, comments need to be related to the topic discussed in the video and my comment fall into that category but thank you for your suggestion.
why did you use KitKat..? why not the Marshmallow builds?
FYI you don’t “custom” a phone you customize.
What tablets support CM, i mean what are popular choices to flash it on with constant support?
wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Devices
There you find all officially supported devices including tablets
EDIT: If there aren't any devices on the page, turn on all vendors at the filter
CyanogenMod 12S on Oneplus One is awesome! After a year of usage, all my friend's phones started lagging, and became unstable exept mine.
what do you think of CM 14 ,, on a GT-I9190. Mine was running without problems for more than 3 years , but am thinking of CM
if you're ready for a big change. I was using the stock ROM on my SM-j320p and I was getting poor battery life, so I switched to cm13 and my battery life is amazing compared to the old battery life.
Truth Be Told
Ohh , okay. However, if you saw the bad news,, CM is going to shut down. I think i am going to switch to OMNI or paranoid android . Have you hear about them ?
Yes, and I have used paranoid before its a great ROM. Ahmad K Mostafa
